I visited Salon Rocks for the first time Sept 1st. I followed my colorist Sobedia previously from Iluminda Studios. Sobedia is an amazing colorist that is worth the 1 hour travel time every six weeks for me to make it to see her. I've been going to her for about 5 years now and my hair always looks amazing. My hairdresser Shannon (who is also very good) also moved to the new location. The two of them make an excellent team and I always get compliments. I have actually been stopped on the street in Englewood after leaving the salon and at the Atlanta airport. I've been going to Salon Rocks for a few months now since my long time stylist, Billy, moved here when Jungle Red abruptly (and rudely) randomly closed and then reopened a few towns away. So weird...but that's for another review, I guess. Everyone at the salon has been super friendly and accommodating. I'm always taken on time and offered water or other refreshments. BIlly is fantastic as always. The new keratin treatment I just tied has changed my life. The prices are right on par with the other salons in the area. I'm a very happy customer. read more

Jamie has been my hair stylist and colorist for many, many years and I followed him to Salon Rocks when it opened. Before I met Jamie, I tried several salons in NJ and in NYC and was never really satisfied. My luck changed when I met him. He has a terrific eye and I have learned to listen to his advice about color and style. He's always right! In addition, he runs on time, which matters to me. I feel lucky to have met Jamie; his work is meticulous and he is an utterly decent man. I would follow him anywhere! That being said, I am so glad that he is at Salon Rocks. It is a professionally run establishment, and is comfortable, attractive and clean. I would definitely have to say my all time favorite salon is salon rocks! The name fits perfectly because they truly do rock! I've been going there for about a year and a half now. Updated my review. I will never give this place my business again. I've been coming here since around 2009 and moved out of the area so I rarely came back, although I would have liked to. Anyway last year I had an appointment and my stepfather passed away suddenly that morning, so I forgot to cancel my appointment. I got the nastiest, most hostile, vulgar voicemail message from the male hairstylist I had the appointment with. He called me a vulgar name for missing my appointment and told me never to show my face in Salon Rocks again. I don't remember his name but wish I did, and after being a paying customer for years I'll never return. If I can somehow figure out his name I'll update this review. read more

My review is for my hair stylist, Jamie. I have very difficult hair, curly, coarse and thick. My old stylist died, and it took me 3 years to find Jamie. He is superb with my curly hair. I tried the curly hair specialists in NYC, to no avail. I wanted a haircut that i could use curly, and also wear straight when blown, after a straightening. He is really an artist. I recently moved to California, have not found a replacement, but when i was in NY for a business trip, the first thing i booked was an appointment with him. My hair always looks great with his cut. And he respects you when you say you want a cut that lasts so you don't have to return every 4 weeks for a fix. He is a gem. I just wish i could afford to fly back every 3 months for a cut. read more

I went here on New years eve and had one of the best experiences I've ever had in a salon. Everyone from the receptionist, to the woman who washed my hair(forgot her name) were accommodating and very friendly...My stylist was Christine, I went in for a haircut , and not only did she listen thoroughly to exactly what i wanted but she gave her opinion and voiced her expertise which made me completely trust her and comfortable with her styling my hair. Her technique is professional and amazing almost like edward scissorhands lol my hair feels light and healthy and looks amazing, she knew to cut my layers to frame my face as well as giving my hair body during the blowdry...I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing a brand new look or for just to simply freshen up their current style. I have been to salon rocks about 3 times now to get my hair done and have never had an issue. I go in wanting a new change or touch up and walk out with exactly what I asked for. Claire has done my hair all three times and I absolutely love it. Everyone who works there are super nice and respectable. The ladies who wash your hair make sure you are super comfortable and don't get any water on you like other places. Even the receptionist is full of joy and always on point with the reminders and making the process of checking in and out so easy. Have always had good experience there with my hair with Eureka - cut, color, keratin. Unfortunately she is only there on Fridays now and it's too hard for me to get there on Fridays. So that's the only reason I am giving only 4 stars. Otherwise, get there on a Friday and ask for Eureka, she's fantastic with everything, especially the keratin and blow outs. read more

LITERALLY had the exact same experience as the woman below me. Decided to treat myself to a cut and color, had saved money for weeeeeeeeeeeeeeks...maybe months (Single mother, cant afford this exorbitant cost). Called to book with Ingrid, who used to do my moms hair, the only stylist I could vouch for. Was urged to see Carol instead as Ingrid was busy... told she was "a master stylist and colorist" blah blah. I brought a picture, spent about 20 mins with Carol being very specific with what I wanted. Ended up nowhere near....asked for a ombre, got a full head of 1990's thin foil highlights in ash blonde (my hair is dark brown). Asked for a shorter cut, with some light layering at bottom layer, and NOT to touch my shortest layers *my bangs, which were past chin. WALKED OUT WITH FRIZZY, OVER PROCESSED, HAIR LOOKS LIKE MY DOG CHEWED IT OFF. I had to literally at one point tel her STOP CUTTING! JUST STOP! I was crying in the changing room as I left. Was visibly upset, tears in eyes, and owner still charged me full cost, over $300!!!!!! I couldnt leave my house, I had to run to beauty supply to buy color to fix it myself, colored it right back to brown to cover the mess. The cut is another story, it cannot be salvaged...bangs were chopped to cheek, jagged mismatched layers, it's DESTROYED. I want a refund. Three calls into owner, still havent been able to speak with her. They already have my money, why should the care? As soon as charge processes, will be filing a dispute through my cc company. I was up all night crying...it was that traumatizing NEVER, EVER AGAIN...WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER. read more

I've never experienced such bad service at a salon that thinks so highly of itself. For $180, I got the worst haircut of my adult life (including an "OK" color) and no response when I complained about it. Since I walked in with my hair tied back and the curls very relaxed, I showed the stylist a picture of my hair on a "good day" and explained that was how I usually wore it. She cut such short layers on top and left the back so long, I walked out of there looking like I had a bad '70's wig on my head! Aside from the style looking bad, the cut itself was terrible. The stylist claimed to "specialize in curly hair." She used a razor on my hair- which is a big no-no for curls (as I learned too late). When I went to another salon 3 weeks later, the stylist took one look at my hair and could see the obvious problems w/the cut. Despite calling the salon to complain, I never got a response. Other times I was put on interminable hold and the manager never picked up the phone. Had my bad experience been made right, I'd probably still be a customer (although with a different stylist). But it was obvious that the owner and manager couldn't care less about the satisfaction of their customers. And that is the main reason I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone- or their dog. read more

What a nightmare to deal with. Started coming here two years ago to their stylist Franco. Initially it was fine, the receptionists are ditzy, often make scheduling errors so I was always VERY clear, and the prices were crazy but I dealt with it because I had just started coloring my hair and Franco was doing a good job. A year into my relationship with them Franco started cancelling my appointments at the last minute and it was very difficult to reschedule. He comes in one day a week so if he cancelled a day before then I was expected me to wait an additional week to see him IF he had time the following week. It was then up to me to switch my schedule around to whatever time he had available that day. I have young children, I work, I need to be presentable in client meetings and my schedule is crazy so I am organized about making my appointments ahead of time so I don't have to deal with any more hassle than necessary. They did this last minute cancelling 6 times in 12 MONTHS. At the end they did it three months straight. In a service industry they should be accommodating the client not the other way around (I was tipping the man 35% every time I thought the least he could do was be a little considerate!) My life does not revolve around chasing after my hair stylist. The receptionists are useless, they never got back to me when they said they would. When they called with another last minute cancellation reception told me he couldn't see me for three weeks. I was so fed up and angry at this point I insisted that he make time for me the following week and the receptionist said she would get back to me. She never did, I went to another place, and she called me asking me why I didn't show up to my appointment. She had rescheduled but not bothered being in touch with me about it. Again, just incompetent staff and inconsiderate hairdresser. I have taken my business elsewhere!!!! read more

Did not look like there was a difference when I had my hair highlighted at this place. It was a waste of time and money.

I recently bought the Amazon deal for the keratin treatment. Knowing that my hair is long I called the salon to make sure that my length of hair would be covered with the amazon deal before I purchased. The person that answered the phone took my questions and said she would speak to the owner. After about 20-25 minutes she called me back and said it would be no more than an additional $20 for my hair. With that I went ahead and bought the amazon deal and booked my appointment . I arrived at the salon and much to my surprise the person that was supposed to do my hair Reem was snotty along with the receptionist they evaluated my hair and told me it was going to be $400. I was prepared to pay $20 extra not $400. They didn't even try to find out whom I spoke to that told me my hair would only be an additional $20 on top of my 139 instead they tried to get $400 out of me. With that being said I would not recommend the salon and I would advise that you call before u buy the amazon local deal. read more

This is the worst salon ever. They are rude, and overcharge you and do not do a good job. They quote a price but charge you a much higher price at the register. Went to this salon and found the staff to be very friendly....thus, the one star. When I made the appt, I told the receptionist that I wanted the Keratin Express ($150) instead of the Brazilian Keratin Curl Relaxer ($350) and repeated myself 3 times to make sure. Note, the only word that is the same between these two treatments is Keratin. I even asked the woman who shampooed my hair to make sure she washed my hair with the right products to prep me for the treatment (she shampooed my hair with 3 products). She assured me that I was getting the Keratin Express and even verified the difference in the time it takes to do the Express vs. the Curl Relaxer. When the stylist started putting on the products, I questioned him and he told me that there was a misunderstanding because the website was outdated and the receptionist didn't know the difference...ummm, how about educating your staff. Also, the entire time I was getting my hair done, one of the other stylists was coming over every 15 minutes to ask how to do the same treatment on another woman. Quite scary to think the staff is supposedly trained and certified and doesn't know what to do. Forget about this place being called Salon Rocks...more like Salon Sucks. read more

I've been to this salon twice. The first time for a simple hair cut and I got one of the new stylists (I know they have different levels of stylist, this one was lower in the hierarchy). It was just a simple cut and she was fine. My problem was with the second visit. They assigned me to one of the "higher level" stylists. I wanted my dark brown hair red, like Sharon Osbourne red. I got light brown instead, mediocre blow out and charged over $100. I kept asking through out the process if the red will be brighter and she kept saying "don't worry, it'll be really red once washed out." It wasn't. And it wasn't a few days later either, as she tried to say it would be. When I told her and the other stylists how disappointed I was their only response was to tell me I can come back again for another session (which I did not want to do to my hair). And of course it wasn't a free session. They said cost would depend on who I get the day I come in. Lastly I tried to use a gift card THEY gave me as part of a promotion after the first visit. They said it wouldn't go through and there was nothing they could do about it. It was literally like 3 months later and the card had no expiration date on it. Only reason I went was to use the gift card THEY gave me and it was useless. I guess if you go for a dye job make sure your stylist isn't color blind and if you use a Gift Card make sure you get the expiration date read more
