The guy who was in the skate shop was really rude and made me want to go home. Probably won't go back because of him.

It is $10 for public skating and $7 for skate rentals. Skate rentals are in very good condition, my pair was nearly new. They are also all hockey skates, which I love. They do public skating on Saturdays and I also read they do weekly pickup hockey for adults which is neat. The rink itself is spacious and the ice sheet is in amazing condition, it was like gliding on a frozen pond. Absolutely lovely. I will absolutely be coming back here!

The rink itself is very well laid out and maintained very well. Nick, one of the people running the place is very friendly and was helpful in helping me network with some of the guys playing so I could eventually join them for a pickup game. All four locker rooms are as clean as they could ever be and are heated as well which isn't always the case. But more importantly the ice sheet is fantastic and makes playing hockey there a very enjoyable experience. This rink sets a high standard for other rinks in the Boston area for sure and I doubt that you'd be able to easily find a better one that this. Hockey aside, they have a ton of stuff happening there so check out their site for various hours. They have pickup games, high school games, stick and pucks, public skates and loads more.

While the rink itself is very clean, modern and actually fairly nice compared to other rinks I've been to, my only complaint being the fact that the parking spots are at the street and not adjacent to the rink, which makes for a short but annoying walk, especially when it's raining or carrying heavy hockey gear. That aside, the interior of the place isn't too cold which is nice for spectators who don't want to freeze their butts off and the ice is of pretty good quality, although it does tend to take a while to freeze over once the zamboni runs. That aside, the locker rooms are numerous, I counted four, are kept clean and warm as well. Sometimes too warm but that's not a bad thing, especially in winter. I have yet to go there for a public ice skating session but would go there in a heartbeat as I find it quite nice.

What a perfect time for ice skating!…read more I was driving home from the Fresh Pond Mall yesterday and decided to take the long route home via my old town, Belmont. As I drove past Belmont High and wondered what the mobile home looking things were in the school's parking lot I remembered a very important thing. I can go ice skating for free at the school's rink! So, here's yet another free and fun activity. Pick up a calendar with the times of public and family skating, it is advised that Belmont residents are the only ones who can use the rink. Don't feel like being indoors? NO problem. Right across the street, next to the pool is a little self made rink where some kids were playing ice hockey. I hope you are enjoying the winter sports!!!

*** 2019-2020 ***…read more The Reilly Memorial Rink at Cleveland Circle is a short walk from both the final stop on the C Line, and the Reservoir Station on the D Line. During my first visit this season, I noticed that the ladies room had been moved to the corner, and enlarged with a separate changing room space that isn't padded to protect any ice skates on your feet. I also noticed that they didn't zamboni the ice that public skate time. Public skating begins 11/29/19, ends 3/1/20 Public skating hours Saturday & Sunday: 2pm - 3:50pm Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 12pm - 1:50pm Wednesday: public stick time 12pm - 1:50pm

Aside from that, there really isn't anything special. The second I got onto the ice, I was bombarded by about 25 little kids who consistently kept falling right in front of my skates. Keep in mind, this wasn't as hazardous as it could've been because I was only able to go about 2 mph on my skates as each square-foot was covered by an ice skater. I felt like I was playing dodgeball. By no means was this the fault of the kids, because everyone learns to skate at some point and it was actually quite cute seeing them learn. However, the public skating hours are very limited (2 hours per weekend day) + (the fact that it's free). Everybody is gonna sprint there! This isn't ideal, practice, or physically safe. There was absolutely no room to skate freely. Also, the rental hockey skates I got were very weird, the blade was not centered correctly and it seemed like it needed some sharpening.

It's a great visual experience on top of having nice ice. A plus is that aside the rink is a flat patch of rectangular ice for beginners to practice on. One thing I don't like about skating at the Reilly Rink in Cleveland Circle is that beginners flop all over the ice. You can sit at the side of Reilly and time it on your watch and not go more than five seconds without seeing someone fall on the ice and possibly cause a pile-up. Kirrane has a nice solution for it. Reilly is free and Kirrane does charge $8 for Brookline residents (as of early 2026, fees may change with inflation!!!) and $10 for non-residents. They also rent nice quality skates, both figure and hockey style, if you don't have your own. The absolute best is to come in December to early January for the afternoon public skate and watch the sun set and the sky change colors off to the west before they shut down at 4:30pm. If you're lucky there will also be some snow in the surrounding trees adding to the experience. The only negative experience I has was that the staff didn't confront some pain in the butt kids. Some kids around ages 10-12 went on the beginner ice and were skating really fast and then diving and sliding on the ice as far as they could and knocking into beginner skaters, including young children. Neither their parents nor the staff said a word to them. I was close to going hockey player and roughing some of them up to teach them a lesson. They really should crack down on this before someone really gets hurt.

I asked one staff the other day if my daughter can be given a make up class for the lesson she missed, the staff gave me a simple NO without even looking at me. That was very rude. The other staff, when I asked if my daughter can be given a replacement of the practice card, she gave me a very obvious suspicious look and then NO. The director is a guy that thinks he is better than everyone else. There are enough kids in Lexington interested in skating lessons and using the facility. I guess they are never concerned about where to get customers. It is just such a shame that we have to deal with these people.

I enrolled my younger child for beginners class this year. He was COMPLETELY ignored by the instructor because he was skating slower than the other kids. For one class he was completely on his own for over 20 minutes. The instructor could not handle more than 2 kids. Then he was shoved to another instructor without telling us the parents. My child complained that he is not in the right class and had since lost interest in the sport. Great job in destroying a once motivated child, Hayden.
