I am not writing this review out of retaliation for what John Garza has done to me, or how he has treated me. I am writing this review to hopefully warn other people of what they could be getting into, and who they would be getting into it with. Prior to meeting Garza I had suffered from some pretty odd symtoms, of which Garza claimed he had seen numerous times and fixed. I decided to go forward. For about 3 weeks I was seeing the benefits of what he claimed, but after that time period my symtoms reverted back to the original state and actually a bit worse when I factor in some issues I never had before. This is not even the cause for the warning I am issuing here. As I attempted to work through these issues with Garza, he became hostial, abusive, threatening and a bully. Garza devised a treatment plan that would take me out of braces due to the nature of my job, but when I showed up for that appointment he had no recolection of devising that treatment plan. It was like I had stepped into the "Twilight zone". When I informed Garza that his own plan was to remove the braces this is when the abuse began. He told me I was "Abandoning treatment" and I would not be getting back the $6K I had prepaid if he takes them off. In the room with him I had to stop him and ask him to gather his own compsure because he was getting verbally volient and threatening all the while stammering his words and making up lies about what needed to be acomplished for the duration of my treatment. He then started accusing me of seeing other dentists (I was not at the time) & attempting to make it a legal issue (I had never mentioned that, and do not believe in suing for personal gain so this is something I would not do anyway). He also was raising his voice and trying to condesend my questions while making numerous additional threats as it pertains to finance and treatment. Someone who is not confident, or has not dealt with bullies in the past should not be alone with this man, he is on the wrong side of the Dr / patient equasion. It did not stop here, as we were walking back to the chair; so he could remove the braces (After I had to demand they come off in the hostile room), he was speaking loudly about me to his staff claiming "This guy is making this legal, document everything". Another attempt at intimadation and humilation. As evidence to my claims above, about 3 hours after this incident I get a call from John Garza "Humbly appologizing" that "His staff really screwed up the treatment plan" & that he wanted me to stay. I have multiple witnesses and documentation of this appology call so if there is an attempt to refute any of this it is a lie. The call was way to little to late, this man is a bully and he attempts to use intimadation on patients. If his office attempts to refute any of this review, I will simply post a lenghtier review outlining some of the worst parts about my engagement with him. (There is more to this story but I am holding back, again this is not retaliation as much as it is a warning to others).. read more

Recently I started a plan to replace very disparaged teeth. Three hours were set aside for me with no other patients scheduled. I was attended to 100% of this time without any disruptions or conflict. Dr. Garza and his assistants were with me every moment. The absolute goal was that I leave as comfortable as absolutely possible. Patients should understand temporary crowns are not exactly the same as the permanent ones that will be put in place in a week or so. Every effort was made that I leave with the best possible comfort and bite. I did. I have had no discomfort and my smile is already substantially improved. My confidence in offering a smile is already showing. I am very excited to get my permanent crowns! When you are confident and comfortable with your smile it opens up a whole new world! I went to this office about 6 months ago only to be told every negative aspect of my face and teeth including how crooked my jaw was and off center my bite is. All I was there for was a cleaning, not a cosmetic bashing. Instead of building rapport with a new client, I was greeted with a list of "problems" no other dentist has ever brought to my attention. I was recommended multiple extensive and expensive treatments that dr. Garza insisted were vital to have done. I will not be back. read more

Broke a tooth over the weekend. My history with dentists yield much fear and trepidation. My sis recommend Dr Garza so I called. Appointment went very well. The approach they used was reassuring and helped me feel comfortable. I normally need gas and a pill for a root canal or etc. I did not with Dr. Garza. His staff were very helpful and they made sure I was comfortable at all times. They did have nitrous ready but I ended up not needing it. Yes that was a first Got my crown done the same day and it was good experience. Dr Garza's office is a family run office and from the moment you walk in the door you are treated like a member of the family! There is minimal wait time and the entire team is knowledgeable and attentive to their patients care and needs. Dr G has an extensive education in physiological and neuromuscular dentistry as well as sleep studies and resolutions. If you suffer from TMJ, head aches, ringing in the ears.... don't suffer another day, call and go see this guy! I have personally seen what he can do. Snore? Money hungry and doesn't care about the patients like he tries to ' pretend ' he does. He will lie to you and tell you things that just aren't true , to get your money. I really thought at first I had found a great place with caring people , but after a month or two I realized like most in the industry , he was just really about the money too. Dr Garza really cares about all of his patients. It's very important to him to be the best at what he does and this translates into every patient getting the best possible dental work they can get. I highly recommend Dr. Garza to anyone. He's kind, caring and gentle. Having grown up in a dental family, (my dad was a dentist) I can easily spot good dentists to mediocre ones, and Dr. Garza is one of the best I've seen. And to top it off, his prices are very reasonable. Dr. Garza performed a root canal on my back molar. I was in and out in 45 minutes with no pain. I went for the first time to get a checkup and found out that i needed to get one root canal and once crown. When i went to get those done, i suddenly "needed" two root canals. My mom was not there due to work and we could not get a hold of her and they forced my sister to sign the papers for me to get a second root canal. My sister and i did not know what to do and she signed the paper... Now after going to a different dentist, i found out that the second root canal was incomplete and is now infected. Since it was incomplete, we have to get the root canal redone which costs more than the root canal itself. read more

I went to see Dr. Garza as I had some pain in one of my teeth. He immediately diagnosed it and showed me my films. He also noticed some other issues that I had been having but had not mentioned. I had a very thorough cleaning and they offered to do the needed work on the spot to get me out of pain. I typically have a lot of anxiety over anesthesia/shots but Dr. Garza & his staff made it completely painless. I needed a root canal & a few cavities filled. Everyone in the office was very friendly. Most importantly, I am now out of pain. In addition, insurance won't pay 100%, so we were able to make financial arrangements. I went to see Dr. Garza after seeing his ad in the Gilbert magazine. As mentioned below by another person, he spotted issues that my other dentist had not, but I am not sure how much of a priority they were. Upon retrospect, it seemed as though Dr. Garza was looking to find as many things as possible regardless of need/importance. In any event, I agreed to the service and was presented with a summary of charges that were due at the time of service. When I returned the following week, I paid the total given to me by his wife(front office billing) on the summary statement. A week or two later, I received my insurance statement and noticed the amount of the charges, as well as my responsibility, were less than the summary I was given by the office. In fact, the total charges were 20% less and my portion was almost 45% less than what I was told on the summary sheet. I called and asked about these charges and was told that I had a credit. When were they going to tell me? Wouldn't this be standard business practice for a business highly dependent upon customer service? I asked for a check and was told that the check could be written that day but it would have to be postdated for the following week. Scary. I also have some sensitivity with a filling he filled which I went back to address, and was subsequently told to give it a month or two since he was out of possible solutions to the problem. It would appear unless you want to pay in advance(probably overpay) for dental service(s) and then have to call up for a refund, you should find a different dentist that does business differently.
