I usually stop by Jofen after the gym to pick up some hot Filipino food, which is adjacent to the grocery portion of the store. They have a lot of different varieties, where I'll usually stick to lumpia, chicken/pork bbq skewers, and some of the desserts. I have always had a positive experience with the food and the staff is very pleasant every time I come in. This is a small market with a lot of Filipino snacks, there's a portion of the grocery store where they sell hot Filipino food and desserts. It gets super disorganized when its busy and my husband and I witnessed a customer who placed an order for eggrolls prior and when she got there, they didn't have anything for her so she waited and looked extremely upset. The only bit of criticism I have is to tend to your customers more carefully because I'm sure the lady needed that order for a special occasion and the fact it wasn't ready would make anyone upset. read more

Rice, noodles, vegetables, butcher shop with fish and meat, eggs, sauces, snacks, can goods, frozen section with wonton or eggroll wrappers, potstickers, etc. They also have a hot food counter. Rice and 2 side or noodles and 2 sides combos about $10 to $12. They have empanadas for $2.50 each and a variety of asian appetizers. There was so much to choose from. This is the place where we go to for our groceries They have most or all that you will need to cook filipino food. Selections are awesome! So that is a 5 star right there but this review is for the take out section. The restaurant side of it is below par compare to other filipino restaurants nearby but the price is a lot cheaper. We ordered a small menudo to go for $6.99 and as we start eating, mostly carrots and potatoes. Not sure what the ratio is with the ingredients and meat with their dishes but definitely this one was not an even one. It is a hit or miss with this place, like we love their lumpiang shanghai and pinakbet but fail on the others. There are other three restaurants in the area, FM Asian food mart and Unimart are by Woodridge, and South Sea in Bolingbrook. Try each one and see which one meets your taste buds. I asked for lumpia and pancit, she paused each time and responded that they were sold out. Huh? Everyone knows lumpia are made ahead of time and reheated, how are they sold out 3 hours before close? I usually go here like 6-8 times a year for Filipino food. The food is decent. May 15, 2021, I shop here with a friend. The owner (based on what she's saying) is lambasting one worker about his not doing his assignment in an aisle. There's some 15 - 17 customers in the store and we all can hear it. It was so bad i was tempted to approach her to stop it. This lasts for ~10 minutes. Then probably after 5 minutes that the lady was done, a guy (the lady's husband i think?) also did the same to the same worker. On and on he goes. I was so uncomfortable. He followed the worker and kept on saying stuff to him in a degrading way. The worker might be new or might be even new to the US...and he's a Filipino. My point is, whatever the issue was, talk to your worker in the office. Not in front of the customers. Your worker is a person too, like you. Would i come back here? Nope. I went in to see if they had lumpia. They did. Not only that a regular customer by the name of Ben - was so nice and helped me out. Told me I could also find them in the frozen section. Today I went and got ginataan and karioka, flavor of the ginataan was bland and the bilo bilo seemed as if it were sitting for days. They were hard and stale on the inside. Bilo bilo should be soft and chewy. The karioka seemed like they refried old ones and added them to the new batch. There was one that was hard on the inside. This review is for the restaurant, not the grocery store. The grocery is ok. We started coming here a year ago. Food quality is below average, similar to Seafood City. Ukoy and lumpia - so-so at best. I've had streamed crabs and found a few that had gone bad. To their credit, they refunded. Portions are small. For example, if you order lechon kawali, say you have 6 to 7 pieces, sauce provided is only enough for 1 or 2 pieces. Price is not bad but, for the quality, should be lower. I recommend South Sea Asian Cuisine, 5 minutes away - better food, better price and better, friendlier service. read more

I was there today around 1 pm March 8,2021 and heard a man which I believed the owner of the store yelling hard to one of the employees. I was so shocked and disturbed of what I heard and witnessed of how this employer treating his worker as if he is yelling to a little kid. I cannot even focus looking on what to buy because I was so afraid of the loud voice of this man. I felt so bad with the worker because I know he felt very embarrassed infront of the customers. I would suggest to the employer that next time if he has issues or complaints to his workers to talk to them in private regardless of the situation, Whatever the reason why he got mad at that employee he doesn't have the right to talk to him that way In public I've been a customer at this store for a long time and witnessing this incident today I was very disappointed. read more

This is the place to go if you're looking for hot Filipino food in/near Bolingbrook. FM Asian mart and Unimart are extremely expensive compared to this place and the food quality is better. This place has plenty of choices for snacks, groceries and hot food, compared to the other two close by Asian stores. The prices are not bad they are far cheaper than the two closer stores. Not a fan. I'm Vietnamese and from Dallas, this place has minimal inventory of what I expected.

Ordered two trays of Pancit and Palabok. Each have a few small pieces of meat. It's all noodles. Not worth it! Never ordering there again.

I don't know about the rest but I love their tapa!! Right marination and cooking style.

I'm Filipino and this is the grocery store I go to when I need pancit noodles, fish sauce, soy sauce, lumpia wrappers, etc. This place is like every other small Filipino grocery store that I've ever been in -- small, dark, kind of smells weird, but it has everything you need if you're Filipino. I've gotten the lumpia here and it's OK -- does the trick when you're craving lumpia but homemade is always better. They have Filipino baked goods here, like mocha cakes and hopia. I stocked up on bottles of Sriracha here once and I think one of them was already open when I got home, which was kind of gross, but that won't keep me from coming back. read more

I like how close asian store is from my house and have what we need. But, don't ever buy their hot foods. Their food is dirty and looks like it has been reused for several times. Went here with my wife (filipina) they have lots of good things. BUT my 1 star rating is because the way the employee treated us, putting cardboard over the coolers, telling us they closed at 8. I mean we did not plan to keep them open , but i thought it was VERY RUDE.
