The owner seems to be well versed with custom orders and explaining timelines and delivery delays if there are still questions and from my experience, he is collaborative with his staff. We have also bought display accessories that were less than pristine (though already at clearance prices) and staff seemed empowered to give further discounts. The actual selection, prices and value seem comparable to other brick and mortar retailers in Victoria, though most stores tend to have sales staff that come across as a little too eager at times. I have found that Ashley HomeStore salesman and saleswomen have been nicely relaxed and friendly over the years. My only complaint would be the Guardsman warranty they sell on behalf of that particular insurance provider: the exclusions in the policy are very long, the online forms that need to be filled out denote arbitrary categories for a claim that don't appear to comport with possible damages, and the whole process seems like the usual extended warranty scam - with the store retailer possibly getting some type of compensation for selling you the warranty. Don't do it. Just don't. Unless you like throwing your money out on often useless warranties!

The furniture itself is fantastic. Real, sustainably harvested hardwood construction with great design aesthetics, and all reasonably priced for the quality of furniture you're getting. Sure, they're more expensive then Ikea, but would you rather spend more for a quality piece of furniture that's going to last you a long time, or would rather spend less for a semi-disposable, particle board, piece of sh!t that every frat boy has?

It is VERY well made, heavy, and of excellent quality. The price is very reasonable and the quality is exceptional, significantly better than other offerings we found in the same price range at other stores. You have to wait for the furniture as it is built to order and comes from abroad, but Tony the owner is very communicative and attentive, and it's a pleasure doing business with Monarch. I would highly recommend Monarch, and will gladly go to them again for any future furniture needs.

Warning! If you purchase furniture from scan designs and there was a problem outside of the…read moremanufacturer's warranty no matter what it is, they will not stand behind it. We purchased an outdoor set four years ago, and although it has had very little exposure to the elements, and in fact so little that the cushions are in perfect shape, the set has completely disintegrated. see the attached picture. The set has been kept under a tarp in the summer except for when it is in use. This is about 30 days per year. It has been stored under cover for 6 months of every year. Scan designs company line on this is that we have "unreasonable expectations" and they are unwilling to do anything about it. We asked for 1/2 our money back so that they could still cover their original costs. In return they have offered us absolutely nothing. Their attitude has been to blame us for our negligence with the furniture and to take zero responsibility for selling poor furniture. So if you buy anything from these people, you better hope to hell that nothing goes wrong with it. We are in our sixties and we have bought a lot of furniture over the years, and have never had a problem with any one piece of it, and have never had customer service quite this poor before.

Recently I noticed the lamp shades were discolouring and starting to fall apart. I think this may have been my own fault by using the wrong watt of light bulb. I contacted Urban Barn and they promptly ordered me new lamp shades to replace the old ones and my lamp is now as good as new. I am very happy with Urban Barns exceptional customer service and resolving the issue for me without me having to invest a new lamp. In just under 30 years, I've only had one bad experience, yet it didn't stop me from buying three more beds since. I definitely recommend going into the store Instead of online as it's about 40 to 50% less money in store and you get to try the bed and meet the great sales staff who are always more than happy to assist you. If you cannot find a bed at sleep country, then I suggest you buy a hammock, because if they don't have it, obviously you don't know what comfort is. Going forward in life, hopefully I should only have to buy one or two more beds and they'll definitely be from sleep country.
