Ordered a pizza, in which basil was included as a featured ingredient, when it came to the table they said, "sorry, we're out of basil". We did curb-side pickup from Joe's. The pizza was strangely cold. The salad was strangely small and the leaves strangely large (need a knife to eat) but tasted good. The cannoli was strangely bland and way over priced for what it was ($8 ea). The pasta portion was strangely large. I get that pasta is a cheap filling ingredient but come on, at these prices, can I get a couple more salad leaves? My husband was displeased and said "never again." read more

We dropped by for happy hour at 1 PM. We had the Prosciutto flatbread, polenta "fries", Caesar salad, and two beers outside on the deck. Our server (Adam) lit the outdoor fire pit - though the sun was out, it was a bit cold out and the fire kept us warm. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the setting romantic. It is rare that 4 out of 4 dishes taste bad, however Joe's manages to do it. Poor food, and the lack of service and knowledge about the restaurant by the workers demand I give this place a big 0. The bolognese was watery and bitter,carbonara had hard pieces of pasta, the roasted carrots were hard as rocks-severely undercooked and the pizza, while the crust and pepperoni had a nice flavor, piling 4 times the pepperoni on only leaves you with a crust dripping grease. This place is run by a very inexperienced crew. The answer to ever question was answered by , "I'm not really sure, or I don't think so". It is a shame, nice space.. oh yes, while seating people outside the tables are right next to each other.. missing the covid guidelines. A huge miss. read more

Not pretty enough to be this salty. It's located in a gorgeous spot, but the food was really like an old people's home. The staff were brusque about an allergy in a way that made me think that the kitchen is very angry about any substitution requests and the staff were not comfortable asking the chef about the menu. The menu is not really representative of what came out of the kitchen and what does come out is super salty. It's trying to be something that it can't deliver on and charging an arm and a leg for it. It is a shame as it does have a lovely outside space but I won't be back unless I want to wake up the next morning still feeling like my mouth is an ocean of salt. read more

My wife and I have eaten at Joe's about 10 times in the last year and everything the food and service are top notch. The pasta is fresh and the sauces are always delicious. I especially love their pesto. The wine list is solid and affordable, with generally glass pours. Also, the pizza portions are huge and the sauce is tart and the toppings fresh. My wife and I just got a kale salad and bolognese pasta take away. The kale salad had about 25% of the leaves wilted and yellow. It was drenched in oil, was over tart with a sharp almost metallic flavor to it. There seemed to be ingredients missing - yuk. Opened the pasta, immediately it didn't look good, it was dry, stodgy and pretty tasteless. $58 later my wife and I came to the conclusion that it will be another long while before we eat there again. Pasta portions are small and lack flavor. Prices are high for the quality of the food. Atmosphere is okay and staff is pleasant. Our server was apologetic about them being out of mushrooms, bread, and the majority of the red wines. It's just a bummer to expect a nice (and somewhat expensive meal) only to be told most of the menu is unavailable. The salads were good but not included with the entrees. We chose the restaurant because there was a vegan pasta with cashew cheese and vegan parmesan advertised. It is no longer available. If you are planning to check out this place for the enticing vegan pasta featured on quite a few listings for the location, just know you will be offered a bland and dry eggplant pasta (lacking actual eggplant, veggies, or sauce) instead. read more

Ordered takeout for the first time and sad to say was very disappointed. The margherita pizza was bad. At least 2" of crust all the way around the edges, very little sauce and tasted like catsup, the mozzarella was negligible and in fact I'm not sure there was any cheese at all. First time to order for a curbside due to COVID. My experience is that pizza was good Tutti de carne (burnt on the crust) but ignore that then you get to the good part. Sprite can is $2. Bolognese pasta was bland, need some salt and more sauce or something but it was bland, mostly pasta hardly any meat which is surprising for the $.Parmesan "chicken wings" are not all wings, it was mix with other chicken parts so i gave my son the wings and had the rest. I had a chance to try their Cesar Salad and added organic King Salmon and i just wanted to say their salmon was AMAZING!! It was so moist and nicely seasoned! I felt so healthy that I felt that I deserved to try their tiramisu. Wonderful way to finish the meal. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu!! read more

While the view is nice and the staff was very sweet and friendly, I was very disappointed in the food. My butternut squash pasta was so salty it was barely edible. My partner got the butternut squash pizza which tasted very much the same. Good crust on the pizza and I'd be willing to try another, and perhaps our fault for having butternut squash out of season, but now seeing others complain about the saltiness of the food, I think this might be a recurring issue. Please lighten up on the salt! This place has so much potential. I did have a great cocktail and the "truffle" polenta fries were good but I did not detect a hint of truffle. read more

Seems like the staff is inexperienced and seem to have very little or no direction of a supervisor to help with the ethos of customer service or hospitality. Lots of I don't know without any type of supervisor or quality insurance not to be found. The food was undeniable, some pasta dishes were not cooked or too mushy. The sauce tasted bitter but at the same time water down. The pizza was pepperoni overboard and was incredibly soggy with grease, it brought back memories of chuck e cheese; Very juvenile taste. No patio heaters nor umbrellas. It started to mist and signs of rain and the waiter told guest if it starts raining they will move them in a patio 20 feet away, probably should have some type of covering or patio umbrellas on standby. There was 20 mins of eating in the dark because no one knew how to turn on the outside lights. I looked around and saw other people having lots of left overs and majority of the pizza untouched. If the staff has absolutely no direction I added additional star because they tried. It's a beautiful property but it's strange to see some design aspects were well thought out but skipped out of hiring a manager with indepth experience but not sure who's managing or the head cook giving out guidance to the staff and the cooks. read more

We visited at 4:15 on a Wed, in June. First time dining in here since covid or here at all since it changed names. Yes dining-in is open and the patio is nice. There is an enclosed yet open area that is shaded, and a completely open area without umbrellas. It is sunny in the afternoon. We sat in the enclosed covered area. It was 80 degrees and sunny. The enclosed area could have benefited from a ceiling fan. It was a bit hot. The chairs are short for the tables. Makes you feel a bit like a little kid, especially if your friends are sitting on the bench which is tall/normal for the tables. They have 2 prices next to each entrée. They are for a regular size or huge family size, I was happy to learn. I feel like prices were reasonable. Since hubby and I wanted the same, Chicken with Fennel(special), we ordered the family size, and had enough for another meal to take home (could have fed 4). It was super flavorful and very very good, and filling. Maybe a bit salty. The pasta is homemade! I wish it had some veggies in it (fennel was more like a spice/flavor than a veggie). I don't understand why restaurants serve entrees without any green veggie- my pet peeve. How am I supposed to get my 5-7 servings!? I guess order a salad to share. Good service. We are at Joe's (or ordering food from there while listening to music downstairs) every Friday evening. We have two suggestions for improvements of the food: 1) The wings are always undercooked regardless of sauce type ordered. Not to the point of being dangerous, but definitely not crispy. Wings should be crispy. 2) The pizzas are astonishingly small for the price...or the price is astonishingly high for the size of the pizza. They are also kind of skimpy with the pizza toppings, only covering the very center of the pizza and leaving a really wide crust. Note: the polenta sticks, meatballs and crispy broccoli are great. We also liked the chicken fennel pasta. read more

We have ordered from Joe's at least three times since Covid restrictions started and always had great food. Tonight we ordered a salad and 2 pasta entrees - we paid extra for each main dish to add chicken. The Chop Salad was EXCELLENT! Good thing. Because both of our entrees were inedible. We ordered the Trene and the Fusilli with extra chicken. In both cases the pasta was tasteless - think "sticking your tongue out the window" bland. And the chicken was so doused in salt we literally spit it out after the first bite. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! But we love these guys. We are sad that they don't have a website where we could have aired these issues privately. Also, please know, we ordered 2 main dishes and one salad and paid $100 for delivery. If it had been great, we'd be totally happy. What we ended up with was a travesty. I truly hope this was a fluke. And I really hope Joe's provides an email address on their website for comments and concerns to be submitted privately. I live on the island and will always want to support local business but our dinner here was just bad. We ordered cocktails (were great), the twisted fried sourdough appetizer (so dry! Found it it's leftover pizza dough) and the crab pasta....one word: SALTY. My husband and I love salty foods, to a fault, but the thin, watery salty sauce was terrible. By my second bite, I had to drink half my water. Crab was sparse and mixed within the pasta, and the curly pasta was not homemade. I've made homemade pasta for years, so was excited to have house made pasta here. It was dry pasta and it came out too al dente. We kept getting crunchy little bites of undercooked pasta. Most of the desserts were out of stock, and no Osso Buco (we weren't told until it was time to order) due to a 'meat shortage'?? We were so excited to try this place but the food insults the patrons. Folks are pretty cuisine-savvy on the island so it's insulting to serve bad food and charge expensive prices. We would pay anything if the food was good, but other than cute interior (exact interior of Pleasant Beach cafe), the food, odd service, and really cold dining room was such a turn off. Whoever is calling the shots with this restaurant keeps making things worse and worse. The original menu 5+ years ago was AMAZING. Then they did away with the pizza. Later they got rid of that chef and eliminated most of the best items on the menu. Then they brought back pizza, but not as good. There were a few bright spots that kept me coming back. Now this? Really? There was one dish that appealed to me and it was pretty bland. Why do you keep making this restaurant suck more??? If you can't tell, I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this location over the years. I keep coming in longing for food that no longer is served. With this, I think I'm about done. Bummer. read more

Our experience started well, then crashed and burned. We went here for dinner, arriving an hour before closing. The waiter was delightful. The appetizers (polenta sticks) and vegetable sides (roasted broccoli, and balsamic carrots) were delicious. When we ordered our entrees, the waiter said they were out of Cheese Sauce, so the person who wanted it ordered the fettucine Alfredo instead. We waited a looooooong time for the food...until we were the only customers left. It was only when the waiter finally arrived with three of our four dishes that he announced they were out of Alfredo sauce too! That member of our group had to order again, a different pasta. All of our dishes were way too salty; I'm a salt-lover and even I thought it was too salty. One member of our party has hypertension and too much salt is a health threat, so that was disturbing. Secondly, there didn't seem to be any butternut squash in my "Butternut Squash" with pasta dish. Ditto on the crab pasta; there were two tiny bits. The waiter finally brought the fourth dish and we basically ended up with three out of our four plates filled with the same curly pasta and the same kind of sauce---that was way too salty. And these were expensive dishes! What a ripoff. I was very surprised the restaurant didn't give us a substantial discount. In fact they didn't offer any sort of discount at all. The former restaurant in this spot (The Beach House) was our favorite special occasion spot due to the view and ambience. We haven't been dining in any restaurants in several months due to the current situation, but we have ordered take out 4+ times from Joe's. Each time the food has been fantastic! The pick up process is safe and easy (you drive right up and pick up from the valet at the curb). The pizza (both the regular menu and the create-your-own options) have been consistently great - the crust and mozzarella are both especially tasty. The ingredients are always fresh, the portions are large, and Joe's seems to be one of the few places on the island able to execute a fresh and yummy to-go salad. read more

The service by Madeline and Rachael was great- they were super friendly and helpful throughout the whole service offering great recommendations, which we appreciated. I'm so incredibly disappointed. After arriving at the restaurant with my family for my father's 70th birthday, our table was given away when I walked to the car to get my cell phone. When I returned several minutes later, I was told that it would now be another 40-60 minutes to get a table. So, needless to say, we were forced to instead spend his birthday at the pizza restaurant across the street. The customer service at this restaurant was absolutely shocking. We are at the Earth and Vine / Marketplace Café every Friday since the music restarted after COVID. We usually order food from Joe's. We like most of it, just a few suggestions for improvement: 1) the wings are never cooked well enough regardless of sauce type. They should be pretty much well done and crispy. 2) the pizzas are WAY too small for the price. They either need to change the size or the price. Also more topping on them, out closer to the edges. I hate to admit it but the Treehouse cafe pizza is significantly better. Compare the Treehouse Point White pesto to the chicken pesto pizza at Joe's. Really no comparison. 3) In the E&V/Marketplace it is great that you added beer and cocktails. But the youngins' doing the bar tending are not experienced so when cocktails are ordered they disappear a hind the bar for 15 minutes or more making one or two drinks. I love them, they are super friendly, but you either need more of them or a more experienced bartender that can crank out cocktails quickly. So I will still be there every Friday night, but would love to see these improvements. read more

This was our first time here (ordering to go) and we were simply amazed we haven't heard about it before since we live in such a small community. We ordered the osso bucco ragu for a family and it was delicious. We make ragu on a regular basis, but not osso bucco so that was such a treat. The ragu coated the pasta perfectly. My daughter wanted to try the special today which was their Hawaiian pizza and she loved everything about it- the charred pineapple, the sauce, the ham and of course the crust. We also got the meat pizza for our teenage son and he said it was as good as the pizza we had in Tuscany. The portions were generous. We ended up sharing everything because everyone wanted to try it all- we can't wait to order out again soon! read more

My family ordered takeout from Joe's Restaurant for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. We all agreed that it's the best pizza we've had on Bainbridge (we had the Tutti di Carne). The pastas (Fusilli and Cresto de Gallo) were cooked al dente and had really delicious, light sauces. We also had the Coconut Dream Cake for dessert which was really yummy and not too sweet. I'd definitely recommend ordering takeout from here. We're really looking forward to dining on their patio in the future. read more

I spent a Saturday evening at Joe's a few weeks ago and was impressed with the food and beverage. You can sit outside on the sidewalk and order from the main restaurant. I sat outside and had a few aperitifs to start the evening. The aperol spritz was perfect for this sunny day. Service was efficient and I loved the outdoor sidewalk seating. The menu focuses on pizzas, homemade pastas and main course meat dishes. I ordered a pepperoni pizza, a side of arancini and I got to taste my friend's pasta. All were really on point. Everything is said to be made in-house. Pizza crust was wonderful and I LOVE that they use ezzo pepperoni. Arancini was nice as well. Pasta dish that my friend had was a wild boar regu and was really good. Great price points as well. Recommend. read more
