Been going to Don's for many years; wouldn't go anywhere else. The guy with the problem kid's wife…read morehad a Mohawk?....Yikes!!!

Oh, Gentleman's Flair...how deeply you disappoint…read more I have been to this barber shop a handful of times over the past few years. I've always come home raving about the straight razor shave and great service I received. That said, I decided to take our six year old son for a haircut awhile back and then swore this location off for good (yeah, it went *that* well). It started with my six year old's simple request: could he please have his hair cut into a faux hawk? The woman who was about to cut his hair abruptly told him: nope, no mohawks. Ooooookay, but he didn't want a full on mohawk. But no matter! He was told, repeatedly, that they "didn't do that kind of thing here". Um, what? (Pause to note that at the time, my beautiful wife had "that kind of thing" as her very own style. And for the record, she had a full on mohawk, not one of the "faux" variety. ANYWAY.) So, back to the story, yeah...they don't "do that kind of thing", what-the-eff-ever that even means. I was profusely irritated and ready to take my son elsewhere, was about to leave until the woman approached our SIX YEAR OLD and basically persuaded him to get a different haircut. Oh no she didn't! Oh, yes. Yes, yes, she did. Our son then asked me if he could try a different haircut even though he was the one who had asked for a faux hawk on his own accord. (My personal thought? He wanted a post-haircut sucker more than anything.) Since we don't select his style (not how we roll, yo), I said yes, our son snagged his sucker, and they came home. Our son took one look in the mirror at home and burst into tears. If you're guessing if I took him back out to Supercuts to have his hair "fixed" that same day, you'd be right on. Ugh. Again, I ask you this...who on earth goes above the parent's head and persuades the child to stay for a sub-par haircut? The lady who works here, apparently. Very classy operation, no? Avoid this place like the plague. There are much better barber shops--even in the almighty OFo--who will do, say, "that kind of thing" and not attempt to garner business from a kid because it's a slow day on the floor. And for the record, Supercuts asked us if we gave him a home haircut. Doesn't that sum up the quality right there? PASS.
