OVERCHARGING FOR INADEQUATE WORK!
Got overcharged for "cheap" spark plugs. I had my car towed to this shop as it was having issues the previous night. The next day I had it diagnosed by the mechanic and was told it was a bad o2 sensor and faulty spark plugs. I was given an estimate of around $500.00 and was advised by a friend that it was pretty steep for this type of work, regardless I agreed to pay as I was in dire need of a functioning vehicle due to a family emergency. (I should've listened to my friend and I can take accountability for that as a new car owner).
After the car was "fixed" I walked into the shop and was charged almost $800.00. I drove the car for about a day or two just to have the engine light come back on and the car starting to burn fuel with some misfires. Now more recently I took the car to a family friend who pointed out that the shop put in cheap spark plugs that didn't burn the fuel properly and we replaced them. I wanna preface this is my first car and watching our family friend work out the issue made me realize this type of work was extremely simple and I could've done it for way cheaper. If you're a new car owner, a woman or honestly anybody, please let this be your last resort. Save your money, DIY or shop around.
For context this is a 22 year-old car. read more
