Call first thing in the morning to ask if they could do a safety check for us on a vehicle that my son's girlfriend was wanting to buy, Vilbert fit us in and had a look and found some issues that would have been costly to repair to pass a safety. True to all the positive reviews I read about Eagle Automotive and Vilbert and his staff were very happy to have a look and didn't charge us for the inspection, I would bring my repairs to them as I liked the honesty and we were just a walk-in. There a very few instances whereby I walk away from a repair shop genuinely wishing that they had charged me. Vilbert operates in what seems to be an altruistic way, whereby there's a moral/ethical court operating in his head to decide whether it's fair to charge for labour or not. I went there with what I thought to be brake problems. He was swamped and booked out for days, but his curiosity seemed to get the best of him and he shoehorned time in the garage's schedule to put my car on a hoist, and he diagnosed a leaking A/C line. He showed me the evidence and his mechanic made a recommendation on how to get it repaired. (Another garage had serviced my A/C earlier in the day) (Vilbert's garage isn't equipped to do A/C repairs - I don't blame him. Finicky stuff). He didn't charge me a thing. He is a rare gem, and I wish him so much business that he needs open franchises across Canada to meet demand and charge more for his services because they are more than fair value. This is just the tale of a recent experience. He's serviced my VW Golf many times before and each time the repair was performed well, and at a very reasonable price. My Jeep is getting older and needed a good maintenance inspection, headlight aligned, fluid exchanges and both rear and front brakes installed. Vilbert was very helpful, explained the work he recommended to ensure my Jeep was operating at optimum levels after a bit of 4x4'ing over the summer. The prices were fair, the service was top notch, and he communicated with me throughout so there was no surprises. I have been using Eagle Automotive for the past few years and feel the need to post how impressed I have been with their service. They are quick to figure out the issues and have always been able to get the car fixed on time (and often for less than I expected). At my last visit, when I had noticed that the exhaust had a leak, and I had a wheel bearing that needed replacing. They both priced out the replacement costs quickly and contacted me to discuss. When I expressed that my car was just to get me around town, I was offered more cost effective solutions (e.g. patch the leak instead of replacing the part). It was great that they could squeeze me in the same day and the final result was perfect for our family. I have no hesitation recommending them to anyone. read more

Forgot to reconnect my hand brake (noticed months later). Didn't notice the caliper was seized, did not properly clean so the pads did not rest properly leading to premature wear, was very dirty with their lubrication. It was not a very well executed brake job. Go somewhere else, brakes aren't rocket science. I was the only one in the shop that day. If they can't do a good job with brakes, it leads me to believe a more complex job would be atrocious. read more

Have been going to Eagle Automotive for years. Prior to that I went to Japan Auto which no longer exists. Vilbert worked at Japan Auto and was well-trained by Mr. Goto who retired years ago. Vilbert opened his own shop (Eagle Automotive) and it's a busy place! I have found Vilbert to be nothing but honest, hard-working and pleasant at all times. His work is A-1. He also does preventive maintenance and will let you know if something else will need to be looked after down the road. He lets you know the percentage of wear and tear on all parts of your vehicle. He also shows you what's been done and what may need to be done and the reasons why. He is transparent in his dealings. I had a great experience with this auto shop and would highly recommend it. It had been recommended to me by friends of my brother. I went to them in the used car buying process. I picked out the car I thought I wanted to buy and brought it to them to get it checked out before making my final decision. They did the safety inspection, but really looked at the whole car, not just the safety issues like the brakes and windshield. They brought me into the mechanic's bay and walked me around and under the car showing me all the relevant things to look for and evaluated the condition of each. The car turned out to need a fair bit of work. This information gave me the option to renegotiate the price given the work needed or in this case, reject the car because it was not in great shape and was poor value for the money. Definitely the best $80 plus tax that I ever spent. The owner, Vilbert Enviye, is an outgoing, positive person. He obviously enjoys his job and is willing to go above and beyond to help out his clients. He and his mechanics are competent and smart. In the end, I picked out another vehicle to buy; he checked it out and told me honestly what it needed now to get the safety certificate and what to expect (i.e. new front bearing and water pump replacement) if I were to buy the car. It felt great to know what I was walking into if I decided to buy the car. I used this information to negotiate the selling price and got a deal I felt good about. Long story short -- I bought the car and drove it 500kms that same day with confidence. The icing on the cake? Vilbert called to see if I got home ok and to see if I was happy with the car and that everything was alright. Even if a seller (private or dealer) says that the car is safetied, I would recommend getting it checked out yourself by a mechanic you trust. I am sad that I do not live in Ottawa now (I moved to Hamilton). I would bring my car to him for sure. read more

Vilbert (The owner), as was said in a previous review, goes above and beyond. Had a bout $2500.00 in suspension and steering work done and the quality of work is outstanding. Told me he would need the vehicle overnight but got it done in one day. Professional, courteous and honest. I don't even go anywhere else to get estimates done any more. Who says $ is everything?
