If there's a 0 star, I will give this a shop a 0 star. I went to this shop for a safety inspection. While I still talking to the owner trying to ask questions about the inspection, I noticed his coworker is trying to lift my vehicle, I repeatedly asked him to stop lifting before I finished asking questions. He continued lifted the vehicle on the hoist. Then the owner says the brakes are not passing safety before he even checked the actual brake themselves. I asked what is the thickness of the brake is remaining made it failed. He did not answer. I asked again, he did not answer. I insisted multiple times, then he said it is not the brake. it is the rotors has rust on the side. Then he offered me a package to replaced all the brake pads and rotors. And told me it is only one hour left for getting the parts. I asked what is the quality and warranty of the parts he offered. He said it is good quality, initially stated it is lifetime warranty, I asked him to clarify what condition of the warranty, he then changed and said only 2 years of warranty. I asked if I can bring the parts for him to install, he said no. I ask if I can come back again with a new set of brake and rotor is installed to completed the inspection. He tried to dodge the question. At this time, he kept pushing me to order a new brake and rotor from him. I refused. He then said I need to pay him the full inspection cost before release the vehicle. All these happen within 5 minutes of the vehicle got inside the shop. Basically, he is taking my vehicle as a hostage at that moment with the vehicle hoisted. I asked he for a full inspection report. He said he will but provided nothing. I kept asking for a full report for his work, at the end, he wrote a six-words as an inspection, see the pictures. The whole time I was there were being pushed to install a new brake and rotor on the spot without knowing any details of the condition of the brake and rotor. Again, if there's a 0 star, I will give this a shop a 0 star. read more

I had a minor Electrical issue with my Honda Crv where the blinkers would blink fast.. and these guys at the car Clinic spent 3 hours trying to figure it out and could not solve the issue , they ended up charging over 150$ and not solving my issue read more

I've been going to this place on and off over the past ten years or so. I used to recommend it to friends and coworkers, but my latest visit left me bitter. I went in to have my wheels checked as my car was rumbling and making noise. They assessed and replaced two wheel bearings. I had gotten an oil change recently and the auto shop mentioned there was a slight crack in the oil pan, but not a major concern. The car clinic mentioned the same and I agreed to replace it. I mentioned on the phone that I got an oil change 2 weeks ago, yet they ended up doing that too (which I did not ask for). They removed that from my bill, but they ended up charging me for 4.5 hours of labour. ~$800 later and my car still rumbled and made noise. I was going to go back to get my wheels aligned, but decided this place was just out to fleece the customer. Their website also mentioned they closed at 5:00 pm, but I didn't hear from them at 4:45 pm. I attempted to call them 3 times and no answer, so I quickly walked over to the shop (I work close by) and they said there was another hour left of work. I returned to the office and went back an hour later. Additionally, when I went to pay, THE MACHINE PROMPTED FOR A TIP with suggestions of 10%/ 15%/ 18% or 20%. I kept looking at my bill and was like WTF?!?! I declined to tip them. I will not return to this shop. read more

Not sure why Yelp suppresses my review of 3 years back. Notice that most of the "unrecommended" reviews are all positive. (Except for one.) I was positive before and I'm positive now. It's now 6 years that we've been taking our cars to the Car Clinic. They take good care of us, we never feel like we're being taken advantage of, they show you the wear and tear on the parts that need to be replaced. Same guys every time. They replaced our Subaru's head gasket a couple years back which is a common issue with our model of Subaru and a huge repair that often leads to future problems. They did a perfect job and always reviewed the work when we took it in for regular maintenance. And they never found any issues. Owner has changed but quality of service remains high and the head mechanic is still there. read more

My car wouldn't start and jumping it didn't work. Luckily the friendly owner nearby at The Clinic came over to troubleshoot. My car needed to be taken to the dealership. I am very pleased that he took the time to give me advice and saved me money as I was about to order a new battery which ended up not being the issue. Highly recommend read more

I agree with the other reviews! I went to this place, on the recommendation of my dad, to get my winter tires put on. I dropped off my car at 9 and he said I could come pick it up in an hour! He found things that other point inspections have missed, but I definitely didn't feel like he made them up. No more trips to Canadian Tire with my car - even though I live out of town I will continue to bring my car here for seasonal check-ups. read more

A fair mechanic! Very resonable prices too Midas told me that my car's struts needed to be replaced ASAP. They convinced me it was a huge safety issue and I got a quote for $500+. When I took the car to Car Clinic for a 2nd opinion, I was told the struts were fine and did not need replacing at all! All that required replacing was a small part that cost around $60 including labour. read more

In a nutshell: Overpriced and Poor Quality job The two positive reviews on this place must be shills... I went into this place looking for a replacement bolt to be placed on my tire. The guy said it would take a day to place the order so I came back later on in the day. The part that he "ordered" was the wrong size and it looked like a 14 year old had performed the job. When he gave me the invoice I was thinking "you got to be kidding me." I told him my concerns and he showed me his lovely "dealer" book and referred the standard market pricing for particular jobs. He poorly convinced me that he was well below the "market" price and that he's giving me a deal. I basically paid him for a part that wasn't even installed correctly and on top of that, he stripped another one of my bolts. I left this place worse off than I was when I entered it. Brought my car for repairs. I do not know what my car problem was. The person was nice and friendly. Plus he was patient with me. He made suggestions. I agreed to the checking the tire rod. He showed me the difference between a damage rotation and a proper rotation. Only when I agreed then he did the repair and I was able to pick up my car. Very satisfied. read more

Caution - this garage is a scam. Dropped off 2 cars for safety certificates, and within minutes, they tried to charge me for work needed before they could safety them (same "problem" on both cars). When I refused, they tried to charge me for 3 hours of work (the cars had been there for 17 minutes). Took both cars elsewhere for the safety certificates, and both passed with no issues at all. My new job required me to buy a car so I searched kijiji in December and found a Honda Civic that was offered for private sale. Car looked good, drove well and was priced fairly for a fully functioning car of its age and kms. So I bought it from the owner of The Car Clinic on Holland Dr. near Tunney's Pasture Stn. He said it was a customer's car who couldn't afford the repair costs (new clutch and brakes) so he fixed it and acted as an intermediary and sold it to me. During the test drive, there was an unusual sound when I went into 2nd and 3rd gear - he said it was just the belts warming up and the car is fine. The sound appeared to go away after a bit of a drive, so I accepted his theory. He is a mechanic after all. Unfortunately, after buying the car (cash, private sale), the sound got really bad, it sounded like I was driving an old tractor. After a day or two of extensive Googling and YouTubing car sounds, I diagnosed it as the input shaft bearing inside the transmission. Not an expensive part, but a MAJOR repair due to the labour costs involved- estimates from transmission shops were $900.00+. I felt like I had completely screwed myself and really regretted the purchase. I didn't have the extra money for the repair and I need the car for my new job - I was stressing out. At this point, Mike at The Car Clinic was not legally obliged to help me in the least, I paid cash, it was a private sale, game over. I nervously called him and told him about the situation. I expected him to tell me that I was out of luck - buyer beware etc., which was the case in my mind. I was bracing myself to haggle and negotiate a half-price deal on the repair at best. However, he didn't even flinch. He simply told me to bring him the car right away and he would 'take care of it'. I brought it to him on Tuesday and his shop replaced the clutch (again) thinking they had installed a bad part, but the sound was still there. So they then went ahead and replaced the input shaft bearing (the $900+ job) which fixed the problem. I picked it up on Thursday. Altogether, they probably spent 8+ hours fixing the car. For free. After such a stressful lead-up, Mike turned out to be a seriously stand-up guy and made it right without any resistance whatsoever. The car drives and sounds like a brand new car now, I couldn't be happier with it. My faith in humanity is at an all-time high after this experience. This is the first review I've ever put on Yelp. And yes, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" with these guys. We've had a few experiences over the years, where they've saved up hundreds. My friend initially recommended them, because of a part that was going to cost $300, according to another mechanic. CC ended up replacing a different part FOR FREE, to solve the problem. Recently brought in my FJ cruiser for certification and e-test. An oil change place had told me to top up the differential fluid. CC confirmed my suspicion that the oil change place was lying (a very very common practice in that industry). These guys are honest, reliable, and I'd even dare to say "caring". read more
