A few years after buying the car, we had a serious problem and the engine needed to be replaced. They advocated for us with the warranty company and were able to get our engine replaced free of charge. With the several other minor repairs that we have had since on this car and our others, they have communicated well, got the job done quickly and even did one for free! Just your average used car dealership willing to cover up issues to get cars off the lot. Bought a 2018 f150 from them and within days the issues are piling up. First look at the truck was disappointing because they do the corny rubberized undercoating in literally just the wheel wells, as if your not going to get on your knees and see the rust spots on the frame, so that's a sign. What we did notice when buying on the lot is dry rotted bald tires, a broken reverse camera, a broken taillight along with burned out brake lights, a hillbilly paint repair job with drips and obvious bondo repair across the entire bed, and get this, a hole broken in the intake pipe for the motor patched with gorilla tape. In the 5 minutes it took me to find these issues you would think their mechanics giving this truck a "passed inspection" would notice it too right? Apparently not. All of this was overlooked and negotiated because it's going to be a company work truck but now that it's all adding up it's evident that this dealership could care less about taking care of their customers. Test drive was in cold weather so we did not discover that the a/c didn't work, so we found that two days after buying in warmer weather. The starter went bad the day after purchase, and the passenger mirror control doesn't work, and when we put the truck on a lift to change the starter we discovered a hack job exhaust repair close to the manifold's, and there are frame crossmember supports literally TORCH CUT off the frame, and bare metal and slag from cutting left everywhere, all of which we couldn't see when buying and the truck was sitting on the ground. Funny thing is this truck was "inspected and certified" by their mechanic shop, so you can expect zero truth from them. Ultimately, they will LIE to you about major flaws and use their false inspections to get your money. I would advise take your money elsewhere. So far we will be paying around 3k after purchase for issues that we ultimately wouldn't have found without putting the truck on a lift and driving it in warm weather. I was reluctant to buy a car from them from the beginning. The salesman, Anthony, was extremely disorganized, never had the answer to my questions and frequently had to call me back for what I thought were pretty simple ones, gave me the wrong price when I went to the bank for the loan and also failed to fax the paperwork while we were in the bank waiting. We had to drive down to the dealership and back to the bank leaving everything very rushed and past business hours. Despite this, we purchased a 2012 Equinox from them because it had low miles and according to Kelley Blue book fell in the fair price range. We also needed another vehicle with decent gas mileage asap to get to work. I should also mention that my dad works for GM and agreed it sounded good because it only had around 41000 miles on it. Three days after purchase the check engine light came on. Took it in to Joelz Cars get it checked. Was the catalytic converter. They said they would fix it. After a lot of run around and them not having the part and then having it, I asked for the part number after being told it was a GM part. It wasn't. Then it suddenly disappeared again. I asked for the State of Michigan certification number of the mechanic that diagnosed it, was told I would get all that on the invoice when it was fixed. During this time, Anthony, even though he's a salesman not a mechanic, assured me that it was ok to drive. After this, I started to research this vehicle extensively. I found an emissions extended warranty and an oil consumption extended warranty. All covered by GM, with guaranteed GM parts. I called my salesman and asked him if Joelz Cars checks on any recalls and extended warranties before they sell a vehicle. He assured me they do. I asked him why I found 2 on my own when I'm not in any kind of automobile industry. He had no answer. I called Chevy customer service, they immediately set me up with a certified Chevy dealership that got me in right away, got me in a loaner every time I had to bring in my Equinox, and have been extremely professional and helpful. In total this vehicle I bought from Joelz Cars has been in the shop 3 times now, for three weeks and currently counting. I haven't even had it in my possession for four months yet. Also want to mention that they were wrong about how much my license plate would cost, so they still owe me about $40. And I had mentioned my friend, who referred us, by name on more than one occasion during the whole test driving and buying process. (They told me there was a $200 referral bonus.) When I asked about it after all was said and done they claimed I never told them. All around bad experience. I should've listened to my gut the first time I walked in and they pulled all the stereotypical used car salesman "tricks". read more

Purchased a new to me used vehicle from Joel's recently. Found the vehicle on Cars.com for what appeared to be a great price. Buyers beware!!! If my experience is any indication the great prices are too good to be true. After owning the car for 3 weeks I've been able to drive it for 5 days only. It's been to the shop twice for two separate unrelated issues. Total cost of repairs is in excess of $3,500.00! The first and most costly repair occurred 3 days after purchase. I called Joel's to ask for assistance numerous times and was told they would review my mechanic's quote. I'm still waiting for a return phone call... In addition, I still need new tires which I knew when I purchased the vehicle. When this is all said and done I will have spent more than I could have purchased a certified preowned unit (newer, lower miles) for from my local dealer. I'll update this rating as I go. Just putting it out there in hopes that they see it and realize the impact it has on their current and future business. How you respond to people, how you communicate and how you take care of them matter. I drove the car off the lot and like many other reviews I have several issues with the vehicle that were not disclosed to me. So far its been difficult to get a call back from the service team and I have had to get the sales team involved. They are responsive. I live 1.5 hours away and will be taking the vehicle to them for repairs. I am putting trust into the people at Joels Carz to make this right. They are saying "no promises until they look at it", but have offered a loaner car while they work on it if I get there early enough and one is available. If everything is taken care of properly I'll leave a raving review. We all make mistakes, but how we make them right defines us. read more

Thought we found the mustang we wanted, drove 1000 miles to get it because salesman said it had no rust. When we got there found the floor boards rusted though and paint bubbling from rust. They only took 100 dollars off the price for the rust after a bold face lie of saying it didn't have rust. It was a cash deal and it still took over 2 1/2 hours at dealership. So this is the first time hearing my part is actually backed ordered cause on the phone after I had to call I the customer had to call you guys and ask where my part is so after doing your guys jobs and asking for my part you now tell me it's back ordered well the service guy only said it takes a while (two months) to get there so excuse excuses lies on lies nothing like a bunch of ppl taking money from others and not giving a care in the world about after getting the money. So before the purchase of my truck I noticed the light covers were missing and asked about them and they didn't explain why they were but said they'll get that takin care of right away. Well two months never heard a word from them, so I called and asked and they still didn't have them TWO MONTHS but two more weeks and they had them went to get them put in took FOREVER 1.5 hr in which I sat there and they put only one in ONE so still didn't hear from them about the second one been another month so o called the other day of which I posted and my SALES PERSON didn't have a clue where it was so not very happy it should not take this long for a light cover that they said they would take care of. But it seems common my employee I work with his TRANSMISSION went out in his car after buying from them and they did nothing but give a run around and it's pathetic to do so. Joels Carz in Flushing, MI states in their business description that "All vehicles are safety inspected and ready for delivery." We bought a car from Joels Cars recently. We made a next-day appointment to view our potential new car. When we arrived, we were disappointed to see that the car had not been cleaned prior to our visit. We were also disturbed that in spite of our Governor's Executive order requiring masks in places of business due to COVID19, no one at this place of business was wearing a mask. We wore our masks. We were at the dealership for over 6 hours because on the test drive, the emergency brake was not working, and the car's cruise control was found to be non-functional. We thought the brake was something we might have to repair, but the cruise control was a deal breaker. They assured us they could fix it while we waited. We waited while they "worked on it," being informed every hour or so that the vehicle was almost ready to go and would we like to complete the paperwork while we waited. No, we wanted to drive the car to confirm that it was fixed before we signed a check or a contract. Well, closing time finally arrived, and we were promised a fully functioning car would be delivered to us upon the completion of the repair if we really wanted to buy the car. We bought the car. We drove home (2 hours). One weekend and 3 business days later, the car arrived at our home. The cruise control worked. On the day after delivery of the car, the tire warning light came on. A check of the tires showed all low by 10 pounds, so we topped them off. The light stayed on. Then the next day, the check engine light came on and the tire light started flashing. It took a week (we stopped driving the car during that time) to get an appointment at our local service shop. During that week, it rained. That's when we discovered that the seals on the T-Tops and doors were bad so when it rained outside, the electronics on the dash and the flooring on both sides got wet. When our mechanics inspected the car, they found that the tire sensors had all been removed, the entire emergency brake apparatus had been removed, the door and top seals needed replacement, and the engine thermostat needed to be replaced, making the total cost of repair almost $2000. In subsequent conversations with the service manager regarding the inadequacy of their "safety inspection" and road worthiness of their product, we were informed that all we had to do was bring the car back to their shop and they would make it all better for only $500. Well, she's expensive but we like her so we did not fall for that one. We would like to suggest that you bring your own mechanic when you shop at Joels Carz. read more

Buyer beware! we bought a truck from here on test drive everything seemed great. We live 2 hours away, half way home the truck wanted to stall everytime you stopped. this problem only got worse, No warning lights no codes and when running sounded great. Someone had to have shut the codes off, and did something to make it run good for short time.After we test drove we went to lunch to talk it over when we came back the truck was in the garage i guess that should have been a warning! Yes they fixed the truck but we had to pay half, and what really angered me is most of that was for Labor! I believe their mechanics are crooked and shut off those codes and did something to make it run good for short term, so it really steams me to have to pay them. had we known about this issue we would not have bought the truck, with the cost of truck plus repair we could have got ourselves a newer truck, not to mention the gas for 2 vehicles to take the truck back and to pick it up. So if you test drive a car here and everything seems great dont be so sure the crooks didnt just doctor it up so you will buy it. I know a few people that are looking to buy a used car but i wont be recommending this place to anyone. And i certainly will never buy from them again. Our salesman seemed like a decent guy maybe he should find a more honest dealership to work for, this place is as crooked as they come! I recently bought a car from JoelsCarz in Flushing, MI. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. They let us test drive the vehicle after the test drive I pointed out that the driver's side mirror was flopping around like a flag in the breeze and the salesman said they would take care of that. We negotiated a fair price and closed the deal. While we were talking they took the truck and I thought they were fixing the mirror. We finished and had our picture taken in front of the truck with the salesman and we were on our way. On the way home, we noticed the mirror was still in the same floppy condition. I email the salesman when I got home and he responded that because they had given me a price reduction on the truck they could not cover the repair (retail on the mirror is more than $300 + labor). I don't remember ever hearing that part of the conversation. Vehicles in the dealership are labeled "as is" but when a representative of the dealer said they would fix it I expect it would be done. I did purchase a service contract for the truck and felt that would have helped compensate for the discount. They did claim they were taking a loss on the vehicle, but I took that with a grain of salt. I got a good truck at a good price. It is unfortunate that the mirror situation plays into the legend of the "Used Car Salesman". read more
