I've been to Aspen dental twice since that filing and they never noticed that I had a bunch of decay. Long story short he did a very thorough and wonderful job. I was told that I would be charged a 50 dollar fee. I decided to stay up after working a twelve hour shift so that I could make the appointment. Upon arrival I was met with a condescending and down right rude attitude from Amy. There was a discrepancy with my insurance, therefore I had my company insurance rep call and he was met with the same level of attitude. After a few minutes of being subjected to her attitude, I decided to cancel my appointment and look for a dentist elsewhere. Based off of her actions alone I will not recommend this office.

Obviously, as a student, my regular dentist was not in Columbia so I had to make a quick decision on a local dentist. A friend of mine recommended Crystal Johnson after she had a cleaning there, so I decided to go for it. Long story short, the filling that had fallen out of my tooth was so large that the tooth could only be repaired by a crown. Dr. Johnson was very nice and informative, and, from what I could tell, was doing a great job with my dental work. I had a pleasant experience at this dental office, despite the fact that I had to pay almost $600 out of pocket for the crown. Fast forward to today, and I have just gone in for my first tooth cleaning since having the crown put on (I know -I was very overdue for a cleaning). The x-rays were the first red flag, as you can see a very visible crack/gap in between my real tooth and the crown. Upon closer examination, the dentist explained that there are several issues with the crown and none of these issues could have been something I caused myself. He explained that he does not usually get involved in cases like this, but this was clearly "faulty dental work." I now need to have the crown replaced, only 2 short years after it was put on. I have reached out to Crystal Smiles several times over the phone, and have sent a fax (they do not have an email address published online) with the x-rays demonstrating the issues with the crown. I have gotten no response. If you require any dental procedures other than a tooth cleaning, I would not recommend this office. I will be paying $600 out of pocket again to have their dental work corrected.

My health conditions include multiple sclerosis (MS), chronic back pain, and heart failure, all of which make everyday situations more challenging. Unfortunately, my appointment turned into a nightmare. Due to my health issues, I asked to remain seated in a chair until the dentist arrived. After receiving a numbing shot, I waited over an hour for him to see me. As my pain levels steadily increased, I noticed he seemed upset and even blamed me for his running behind schedule. Despite my confusion, I told him I was willing to wait as long as necessary. At some point, I asked a fair question: if he was so behind schedule, why spend so much time blaming me when I had already agreed to wait? That's when he revealed his real concern: I learned later he was going to be late picking up his daughter. I explained that I was already numb and preferred to proceed with the treatment, but this only seemed to frustrate him more. He abruptly stormed out of the room, declaring the appointment over and instructing me to leave. Feeling confused and hurt, I asked a nurse to help mediate. I said we weren't understanding each other, and surely, as adults, we could work it out. Still, the dentist refused to return. I remained calm, never raised my voice or acted disrespectfully; I only asked for clarification about why he had decided to stop the treatment when it had already begun. His response was to have the police escort me out. The stress of the situation, combined with my heart condition, ultimately landed me in the ER. I prayed for him to reconsider and find a compromise, but instead, he blamed me for making him late to pick up his daughter. I reminded him that this was his issue, not mine. He had the power to dismiss me as a patient, but his actions became an ethical dilemma. I noticed that he continued treating other, healthier patients without issue and only forced me to leave--an 81-year-old with significant health challenges. To me, his motives weren't pure. He used his authority to bully a vulnerable patient instead of treating the situation with compassion and professionalism. I was willing to compromise, but he insisted I couldn't make him treat me. He was right about that--I couldn't force him to do anything. But I left without understanding what I had done wrong. This was an ethical failure. A dentist who chooses to work with elderly patients or individuals with disabilities has a responsibility to treat them with dignity and care. My time and health were of no concern to him. His priority was elsewhere, and his dismissal of me felt less about scheduling and more about the power he held. While I could have simply walked away, I believe he must be held accountable for his actions. He got flustered when I continued to tell him I didn't understand and I would wait the extra time . What a terrible situation for all including his staff who had more compassion than he did.

I was reading great reviews, and it was great. An appointment was made for a few weeks from now. I had called and told them that I can only see one of the dentists who is in my insurance and network. I had an issue with one of my teeth and called to see if I could get in any earlier. I came to find that the doctor I was scheduled with was not on the website anymore. I asked the person on the phone, and they were very confused about who I was talking to. I come to find that they just started. I understand that they are new, but as a business, would it be good to let them know that there were three doctors there and have left recently? Also, really, you can not call your patients and let them know that their doctor has moved to another location. I would have gone out there and then realized that and had to leave, and it's a long drive for me. It was not right not to inform them participants of a huge change like that, and on top I even have in my file that I can only see one as of my assurances. So I have found the doctor that I wanted to see and can now get in even earlier, so that is a plus, but really, please inform your customers before the day of the appointment of a huge change like that.

Walking in Ms. Alyssa and Ms. Marie welcomed me and got me checked in. Then Ms. Lacey came and brought me back she had me take a seat and explained what was going to happen. That sat on there for a few minutes and then Doctor Yarborough she came in and said good morning and talked about what was gonna happen before it did but like in a way that I could understand. Then it was time to have the numbing shot, which unfortunately, for me is the worst part, thankfully this is a place with amazing people where they don't see it as that instead they see it as someone being a brave person that's just really nervous. And they find ways to help people get through that whether if it's with laughing gas, it's with iv sedation it's with medicine or in my case with turning on the TV and having somebody stay in the room and just talk and hold your hands. And that's exactly what happened for Me , Fuller house on the TV, and Ms. Gabby just talk to me while holding my hands, helped me while Ms. Lacey and Doctor Yarborough fixed my tooth, they all were telling me that I was doing a great job. She told me everything she was going to do, so there were no surprises, and before I knew it, I was done. Everybody was super supportive, kind, caring, even with some tears. They helped me with my tooth. Ms.Marie was able to check me out upfront and I was on my way with a half crooked smile on the account that my face was still numb from it being fixed! Don't worry it went back to normal. This isn't just a dentist's office. Also, their voicemail recording did not state who is on call or if there is an emergency phone number to ask emergency questions.
