Not only does Dr. Niak see you, but he also takes the time to really talk to you. I went in for a physical and he spent 45 minutes with me! There was nothing wrong with me; he was just chatting. I am pleased to see this kind of relationship has not fallen by the wayside. The only thing that disgruntled me about Dr. Niak was his slow turnaround time on lab results. I am sure he has had lab results sitting in his office, but he doesn't call back until a month later. Sometimes, I have to call him myself and bug him to give me the results. Of course, his practice is small (only three doctors working there, so they are on call every third night), but he could improve that. Also, I sent him a form once to fill out that I needed for school and he never sent it back to me. Overall though, great guy, just busy.

Imagine my stress when moving and looking for a new GYN after recently having a baby. I started with this practice in 2013. I've seen both Dr. Rogers and Dr. Scartiscini (and his daughter, the NP). Dr. Scartascini is gentle, humble, very smart, and probably approaching retirement. He is well liked and it's easy to see why. He has a lot of cultural competence and I appreciate that. Dr. Rogers...well, he seems a little prick-ish, but I like him. His demeanor can be somewhat like 'ewww...I don't wanna touch vaginas' but he takes you into his office and THOROUGHLY explains everything in detail with tons of options. I think he's better as a researcher or professor (not patient facing). The Greenbelt office is old, small, parking is horrific and it doesn't feel like somewhere you'd want to be. Bowie office is behind the Bowie health center near the shopping center where Macy's, etc is. Not a bad location, but the building is just odd. New construction appearance but a closed floor plan. Makes it feel secluded and not a lot of access to natural light. It's a little scary walking up the stairwell to the second floor. Eekk. The biggest problem with this practice is THE PRACTICE. The staff is horrible, the wait time on the phone is horrible, the wait time for appointments is horrible, the disposition of the staff is horrible......I do NOT see how people deal with this.

He is a pleasant person - NOT adversarial at all....he seems to want to work with the patient and find solutions, not just criticize them for not taking better care of themselves. He does spend a lot of time typing into a laptop, but he is multitasking - listening and talking while he does the typing. In emergencies, he will confer on the telephone during off-hours. The office staff are unusually helpful and courteous. Wait times used to be a little long, but since he has associated his practice with MDVIP, that is no longer a problem. I am not a fan of the MDVIP service but it isn't enough of a problem to detract from an otherwise excellent practice.

His imaging diagnosis convinced me of the importance to move forward with hip replacement surgery. Summit Orthopedics works closely with Sibley Hospital so I was able to schedule a Monday morning surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT. It has been about 8 months and I was doing great until 2 days ago. I started having pain in the back of my knee and calf. I started taking aspirin to help if it was a clot. The office will not give an appointment until mid October and today is September 10. I will utilize urgent care or go to the ER if it persists. I am concerned about infection. They transferring my telephone call to a different department. I said what seeing his PA but apparently you can't do that. I recommend the surgeon but not the follow up. Ps my primary doctor will fit me in tomorrow unlike my surgeon's office.

I was in the lobby, since I arrived early, and I heard him talking with an elderly lady about her treatment plan. His kind tone, patience, and warmth in his voice as he spoke to her about her situation was incredible. He was so respectful and was mapping out what she needed to do with her other doctors to make sure everyone was on the same page. It was heart warming. I first needed to go to Dr Raj for my right shoulder. Within a month of PT my shoulder was back to normal. Then I lifted something that was very light and tweaked it, so back to Dr. Raj. Withing 2 weeks it was fixed and I haven't had any issues since then. Then the right hip started acting up so started the process with Dr. Raj. It's been a few weeks and it is starting to feel better and the limp is almost gone. I still have work to do on my hip, but I know Dr. Raj will get me back to my normal hip health soon.

During the first visit Raj assessed the problem, explained in detail his findings and his recommendations (which he shared with my doctor too). After several visits, the pain was gone. He continued then with methods that helped me gain strength to prevent future injuries and helped me regain normal range of movement. He used tools and methods that helped me during sessions, but also taught me how to replicate them at home. I am very thankful for his professional help and his caring personality.

I apologized for the oversight and respectfully asked whether I could return with the disc at a later time and still be seen by the doctor. The office manager interrupted her telephone conversation and responded in an unnecessarily rude and dismissive tone, stating, "You just have to make another appointment. He can't see you without the disc." She declined to allow me to see Dr. Cohen and further stated that I did not have the right to see the doctor without the required materials and that "he is very much aware of how this office works." ( She boasted about being the office manager for over 14 years) She then concluded the interaction by saying, "If there is nothing else, you can leave now." I understand that there may be office policies or medical requirements regarding the MRI disc. However, I believe patients should be treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect, particularly when addressing an honest mistake. The manner in which this situation was handled was unnecessarily discourteous and left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. I am requesting that this matter be addressed with the appropriate office or company Foot and Ankle of MD leadership. While I understand and respect the need to follow medical protocols, I do not believe those policies justify speaking to a patient in a disrespectful or condescending manner. This is not an isolated situation so if you're wanting an office that is professional and courteous to you while you're going through your assessment and healing process, please choose another podiatrist.

He listens closely, has a wonderful sense of humor and always puts me at ease even when I am anxious. I trust him implicitly. He's been so helpful every time I've been sick or had some weird medical issue. His staff is wonderful, no one is hard to reach and it's never difficult to get an appointment. I found Dr. Saedi because a colleague (who is very picky about medical care) recommended him and I am now having my husband and family go to him as well. He's a walking encyclopedia who is kind and attentive!
