Mark, the owner, has created a clean and inviting atmosphere using re-purposed antique furniture for his salon. Romuls has had several haircuts there incuding a complete change from his former ponytail to a cut for a job interview! Then, we took a CD of Eric Clapton's as an example for the 'Clapton Cut'... Mark was game and Romuls looks great! Terre had not treated herself to a cut and style for years but Mark transformed that tangled splitends hairwreck into an over-the-shoulder soft wave of such style that 10 years vanished: voila! This was the former salon called Mountain Top Hair & Nail Shoppe but Mark bought it, gutted and restored it, and now it is sun-filled and gaining a great reputation! There are other services offered we will use in the future including manicures, hair color and hi-lighting (a second stylist was doing a detailed job for another customer while we were there recently) and more (so call him!) When he was done I looked like I came straight out of a V.E. Day parade! It was perfect, and they lasted from that morning until the next, after driving from the salon to camp Pendleton near San Diego and waiting for the busses to get there till 0100 in humidity. Then when we had our wedding and he did the most beautiful up-do and it lasted all night. I have to add that my hair is notoriously hard to work with and it is damn near impossible to get it to hold a curl, bottom line is this man is magic! Another time I needed a change and I drove from camp pendleton up here just to have him dye my hair and he took me from blonde to Merida from Brave red and I've never received so many compliments or looked back! People on the street tell me how seldom you see natural red heads anymore, and some don't believe me when I tell them it's not mine. When it comes to price he can't be beat, you would be hard pressed to find anyone that can match his quality of work for the price. Hair Queen: Upon meeting Christina, I KNEW she'd be great! From the our initial meeting, she made me feel welcomed and she has that type of personality you can relate to. She kept our conversation flowing throughout my visit and it honestly made the time go quickly. She listened to what I wanted to do with my hair and she openly gave feedback. I trusted her with my hair and she didn't let me down. I wanted a rich chocolate brown and longer bob and she made it happen. I love my cut and color! Being a new mom, she reassured me that my color would be cost efficient and the cut would be easy to maintain (and to keep out of my kid's grabby hands). You don't have to worry about people overhearing you gossip (because duh! It's what you do with your stylist! LOL). Her products are organized on her shelving units and she keeps a clean workstation. She did give me a tour of the salon and I was able to gather that the rest of the salon is also kept clean and organized. There is a common area where other stylists have their stations set up. The dryers and wash area are separate from the stylist's stations. Overall review: Christina is amazing and I'll be coming back to her for sure! Her prices are fair.
