Joe Squared Productions was in charge of the decor for our wedding on June 18, 2022 at our country club. Unfortunately, our experience with Joe and his team was not what we had hoped for. The draping looked like it was hung by a child and the lighting was insufficient. Despite our agreements, specific items were not delivered, and we had to pay for them in advance. On the day of the wedding, we found out that Joe had left the ballroom 45 minutes before the reception was scheduled to start, and the staff at the country club found boxes of lights on the floor. We had to leave the reception to call Joe to come fix the lighting because it looked like a doctor's office. We were disappointed that the room did not feel like a nightclub, as we had expected. We also had difficulty communicating with Joe leading up to the wedding, as he took days to return our calls. We received approximately 40% of the total bill as a reimbursement for non-deliverables, which took over 5 weeks to receive. In retrospect, we should have paid more attention to the negative reviews of Joe Squared Productions and ensured that we had a signed contract that included a clause for a full refund for non-deliverables. We hope that our experience can serve as a warning to other potential customers. read more

I rented white folding chairs from them = GREAT And I rented a white "dance floor". I knew there would be trouble putting a dance floor on a bumpy, uneven, draught sticker lawn. So I was not surprised it was not level. But my husband was disappointed and said it looked like the kitchen linoleum. But hey, it was the cheapest I could get! And it still worked as a dance floor. We had our wedding at the Gardens at Heather Farms and Joe Jr. was very easy to work with. The sweetheart table draping, uplighting, and chair rental (cheapest price we found) came out perfect. Uplighting was well worth the extra money for our wedding and it def set the mood. During the initial planning, we weren't sure what color lights we wanted, so he came to my house to show us. I originally went to Joe Squared because they were highly recommended by one of our potential venues and I wanted to support a small business. There were only positive reviews on Yelp, so I felt like I could trust them. Joe was initially very helpful in explaining the different draping and GOBO/mongram lighting choices. I had a great initial impression of them because of their responsiveness and booked them 6 months before my wedding. However, once I paid my 50% deposit, everything changed. They became unprofessional and unresponsive to the point of outright ignoring me. As a bride, when it is 6 weeks before your wedding, the last thing you want is a vendor who does not respond to questions, especially when you are getting draping, monogram lighting, and a photobooth with them. Joe takes weeks to respond to emails and has not once ever returned any of my multiple voicemails. 5 and a half weeks before the wedding, I contacted Joe to finalize details for the draping, monogram lighting, and photobooth backdrop and print-out design. After many emails and calls (I spaced them out and picked different times of days to give them the benefit of the doubt), I was finally able to catch Joe on his cell phone 2.5 weeks before my wedding. That is 3 weeks of not responding to emails and not returning voicemails. If I had known how unresponsive Joe was, I would have happily paid more money for a vendor who will actually respond to questions! 1 week before the wedding, I asked Joe to confirm the monogram lighting came out OK, but again, he did not respond until two days before the wedding. He waited until TWO DAYS before the wedding to confirm the lighting came out OK. Additionally, I had asked Joe to change the draping behind my sweetheart table from 15 feet to 10 feet before I paid the final bill. Joe confirmed and changed it in the contract. However, when I got to the venue the day of the wedding, the draping was STILL 15 feet long. I had only asked my florist to prepare enough flowers for 10 feet of draping. If I didn't happen to be at the venue when Joe's guys were still there to correct their mistake, my head-table back drop would have been ruined! They were able to fix it on request, but imagine if I wasn't there in time and I wasn't able to catch it myself!!! You do NOT want a vendor that cannot follow even their own instructions! But my biggest issue with Joe, and the one that has prompted me to write this review because it still has not been resolved, is the photobooth. Per the contract, it states the photobooth includes a flash drive of the digital images. It has been over 1 month since my wedding, and despite Joe stating he would send me a flash drive or upload the photos to drop box, I have not received anything. He also stopped responding to emails and picking up my calls. Not only that, look at the terrible print quality of the photobooth strips (I'm sure you can't tell but there's supposed to be a flower in the center). Furthermore, the dates were printed July, 15 2017. It's July 15, 2017. Notice the misplacement in the comma!! The lack of attention to detail was frankly embarrassing to us. Even with everything, I could chalk it up to some honest mistakes, but to this day, I still have not received the flash drive that I paid for in full and on time. I'm afraid that he lost the photos or something that he can't admit to, but I can't tell because I've gotten silence from him. If for some reason he lost the photos, he should take responsibility and tell me. Be responsible and 1) respond to emails, 2) pick up your calls, and 3) respond to voicemails. I warn everyone to think twice before using Joe Squared Productions. It may seem like the prices are "reasonable", but if you do your research, there are actually comparable or cheaper options for draping, lighting, and especially photobooths. Hiring him as a vendor is the only regret of the whole wedding. When I want to be able to look at all the memories my friends and family made in the photobooth, I can't. Because he won't give me a flash drive or even drop box me the photos. If all you're getting is chairs, he's probably cheap enough to be great, but for anything more complicated than that, save yourself the stress and do not use Joe Squared Productions. When there are a million things to do for the wedding, you do not need the stress, headache or heartache of having to deal with an unprofessional and unresponsive vendor for your wedding. read more

Joe Squared Productions provided street market lighting, draping, LED up-lights, linens, cocktail tables, and pinpoint light for the cake. I struggled with whether or not to post this review as I work for a venue but in the end, I think people should know to beware of this one. One of our clients hired this company for their wedding. He did a terrible job and had a very bad attitude. The set up process went bad from start to finish and our staff had to go behind and fix many issues which put us behind in our own set up. The bride rented two red carpets for the aisle. The colors didn't match and Joe just left them rolled by the door. When I asked him to set it up and tape it down, he rolled it out but said he didn't have any tape. The carpet blowed all over the place. The fabric on the arch looked so bad, the bride's family had to fix it although they were dressed and ready for the ceremony. He did pipe and drape for the head table but didn't cover the posts completely. The linens were the wrong sizes and although they were mis-marked by the linen company, he showed up two hours later than he said he would which was very stressful as we had to put two smaller linens carefully together to create the floor length linens the bride wanted before setting the tables with no time to spare. He also forgot some chairs and left them at the back door. I would definitely think twice before hiring this guy. I've worked with many rental companies but I've never experienced service this bad. read more

We worked with Joe Squared Productions for our April 2016 wedding at the Berkeley City Club in Berkeley, CA. Joe Squared provided a number of rentals for us, including chiavari chairs, draping, wedding arch, cake stand, and a pin spot light for our cake. We were extremely pleased with Joe Squared and highly recommend them! We were really impressed by Joe Squared's rental selection and flexibility. When we first started working with Joe, he sent us a PDF catalog with information and pricing for a lot of what they have to offer (though they have more than what's listed in the catalog, so don't hesitate to ask!). We then met in-person at a coffee shop to discuss our wedding vision and needs, talk about their offerings in more detail, and check out fabric swatches, which was enough for us to happily make our initial rental order. We kept thinking of changes and new things we needed after that, but Joe was able to accommodate all of our requests and changed our order as needed. And maybe most impressive, for the few things we needed that Joe didn't already have (arch, cake stand), he bought and rented them to us. Painless! The only real problem we ran into working with Joe Squared is that it was often tough to coordinate with Joe via email. Sometimes my emails wouldn't get responses, or the responses would only answer some of my questions. But stick with it! Joe was really helpful when we met in person, and the rental delivery/pickup experience was painless: everything was delivered the night before the wedding and picked up a day or so later. And the results! We were blown away by how great everything turned out. Everything was perfect, and the draping Joe Squared set up around our ceremony space was even more beautiful than we could have imagined. We got a bunch of compliments about how everything looked. And to top it off, Joe Squared's prices were great! Even our day-of coordinator was impressed by how affordable his rentals were -- especially the chiavari chairs. Words can't explain how impressed we were with Joe. I'm generally not one to even write reviews but his service deserves 100 stars! We hired Joe for tenting, lighting, tables, chairs and DJ service. Let's just say we had everyone coming up to us saying it was the best wedding they had ever been too. My biggest fear for my wedding was that no one would be dancing. We had about 200 people there. The dance floor stayed packed all night long. When I say PACKED I mean it. Hiring Joe as a one stop shop was the best thing I could have done for the wedding. I'm not just saying it for the sake of saying it either he totally came in as a vendor and it felt like he left as family. I had 11 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen and ALL of them raved about Joe the day after the wedding. If you are truly debating on using him for an event as important as your wedding then just do yourself a favor and book him without hesitation. There wasn't one aspect of his services that we were disappointed in. The lighting was so amazing and worth every penny! The tent was a much needed and beautiful touch. The chivari chairs looked amazing and clean and elegant. The DJ service was Phenomenal! I think the best part of his service was his amazingly reasonable prices. We hired Joe Squared Productions for lighting (personalized gobo light, chandelier, wash lights for cake & sweetheart table) and chiavari chairs at our wedding at the Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park. Joe was great to work with throughout the process. He met with us multiple times at the venue (First time to review the colors of the chairs and what lighting would work well in the space. He brought samples of the chairs and lights so that we could see them in the space. Second time to meet with the hotel engineering team to ensure that that chandelier would be structurally approved for the outdoor space). He is very knowledgeable and offered honest, useful insights about what would work in the space. Joe has great attention to detail and commitment to service. Our detailed requests were all completed to perfection. Joe's team arrived on time, set up the lights and chairs perfectly, and were efficient with the breakdown at the end of the night. They offer a large variety of rentals and excellent pricing (I had done a lot of research and his pricing was the best!). I also appreciate that the prices on the pricing sheet already include delivery, setup, and breakdown. No hidden costs! The upgrade to a leatherette seat cushion for the chiavari chairs were an excellent addition! They were far more comfortable than other chiavari chairs I have seen at other weddings. I have a long thread of emails back and forth with Joe and if you see the amount of time they took to respond to me, it was like we were texting back and forth. They are so quick to respond to my concerns and I really respect that.. They also gave a reasonable price for the amount of work that they provided. I've looked at other lighting companies around the bay and they were the most affordable, especially for brides on a budget like me. I was able to book them in advance and they visited the venue to help me decide what kind of design I would like. The day of the wedding they came in a few hours before to set everything up. When I walked into the venue, I was AMAZED. It looked incredible!! It's really hard to write this review because Joe seemed like such a nice guy. We went over times of setting up 2 days before my wedding. I was specific about needing everything to be done by 4:00 pm on 9/20/18 he said that would not be a problem and that he could even provided a dimmer just in case we needed to dim the lights. I rented heaters, string lights, and a generator. Friday rolls around and his team arrives everything seemed fine until his team said everything was done and Joe should by later to finish setting up the heaters and lights. I asked them about the generator and when it will be arriving, they mention Joe will be bringing it when he comes latter. I was concerned because it was about 2:45 pm at this point and like I mentioned I needed everything done by 4:00 pm because we were having rehearsal at that time and the. 4:00 pm rolls and Joe is no where to be found, I gave him a call he tells me that he is in San Francisco and doesn't know when he can make it. While I am talking to him on the phone a company hauling a generator pulls in saying there are here to drop it off. I was so confused this thing was huge like it was made for a construction site. It took over 45 min to get the generator where it needed to go. Joe never once mentioned that the generator was from a third party company or that it would be that big. This took time away from my rehearsal and wasted my time and my coordinators time that I was paying for. Not to mention the string lights were not set up correctly there was a big tripping hazard that he tried to cover up with burlap. 7:00 pm rolls around and he has still not arrived and says to me he doesn't think he can make it unless I'm ok with waiting for him until 8:30 or he could come the following morning. By this point I was beyond irritated not only have I been setting up my wedding for 2 days I missed my own wedding rehearsal because of his lack of communication and now I have to wait on him. I of coarse waited because I didn't trust that he would show up the next day. When he finally shows up he was not apologetic at all and he didn't even bring the dimmer. I mentioned the we indeed want the dimmers if the lights were as bright as he said they were because at this point I didn't even know how bright they were since I haven't seem them on yet. He said it was not going to be possible to bring the dimmers because he had a wedding in Napa the following morning. So in my mind I am thinking if I would have not waited for you tonight that means you had no intention of showing up the following morning. One of my husband groomsmen works for Hertz equipment rentals in Oregon and said there was no necessity for generator that big. Joe my best advice if you intend to keep your customers happy, stop over booking yourself or get a bigger team that can 100% set up what you rent. read more

We used him for everything and he 100% went above and beyond to m make our day remarkable. The lighting and DJ services were amazing. Joe knows what he's doing! He picked all the right music at all the right times, the dance floor stayed packed the entire night, people commented over and over about his DJ skills and his knowledge on wedding flow and keeping things moving was more than we could have asked for. I met Joe at a wedding expo were I won a free gobo. I wasn't going to have any lighting at my wedding but we decided to later. Joe wanted to do a walk through of the venue which he was over 30 minutes late to which I understood at the time, I commute too. On the wedding day, I walked into the reception and my DJ said he unplugged the gobo because he need an outlet for his equipment and when he plugged it back in the light no longer shined. So I had no gobo for my reception. When I saw Joe at the end he informed me that I got the gobo for free so it was no big deal. Although I did not pay for the gobo, I feel as though there could have been some kind of communication to not unplug the device. Tape the plug so that it cannot be unplugged, tape the remote so that if it does become unplugged we have the remote to turn it back on, tell someone at the venue (including the bride and groom) the dos and don'ts of your equipment, or have a sign. Anything. But none of this was done. Joe showed me a picture on his phone of what it looked like when he set up and before he left. It was beautiful and well done. But he was the only person who got to enjoy his job well done. So unfortunately I have to give Joe 3 stars for his lack of communication, enthusiasm, and professionalism. I decided to go with them because I was able to see their work first hand at the wedding fair and my friends wedding. We booked Joe 9 months before the wedding. We walked through the venue together and we were impressed with his professionalism and felt I could trust him to execute the vision I had in my head. When we saw our reception space, we were so happy!! One of the walls of our reception was a window that looked out to a swimming pool, which we didn't want to see. So we had draping with these string lights behind it. It was exactly how I imagined it, I think that was my favorite part. It reminded me of stars/winter night. Perfect for the theme. During our meetings, I gave him specific song requests to play during dinner (my husband and I prefer alternative rock music), and Joe made sure to have every song available. After dinner, he played great dancing music. Our guests had a blast and many made several comments about how great of a job the DJ was doing. The lighting that he provided was AMAZING! We had 30+ lights surrounding the inside of the room, and lights outside highlighting the building. The lights made such a huge difference in the appearance of the room. He was even able to adjust each of the light colors to match the colors of the wedding, and every so often the room would fade into a different color. Joe-squared was absolutely amazing. We found them at a wedding fair while looking for a DJ. My husband works as an engineer and deals with a lot of AV things so he was very picky when it came to the DJ/lighting. We were thrilled to find out they offered chairs to rent for our beach ceremony as well. The chairs were great and they set up the entire beach for us, it was excellent! Joe traveled all the way to our reception location (an hour or two away) so that we could walk around and he could determine what all would be needed and how the set up would look (much more personal then looking at a diagram and trying to estimate everything!). He was in constant communication with us and the price was actually less than we were expecting. We used uplighting in the reception hall and the look it created was absolutely AMAZING. They played all of our requests and were calm and accommodating throughout everything. They did an amazing job and I would absolutely recommend them to others. read more
