I don't shop at H&M often. The last time I bought something was roughly ten years ago. I got a…read moreshimmery green blouse that I have worn a number of times to special evening events. The quality back then was wonderful. I visited the flagship store in Stockholm five years ago. The quality has gone downhill. It's almost like the company likes creating disposable clothes where you are expected to buy article of clothing, wear it a few times, and then donate it. My friend and I were at Heartland Town Centre last weekend. We were at Old Navy and decided to pop into H&M next store. I did like some cute tops while I was there, such as a tank top with cute lemons, a shirt that pointed out that it was Saturday, and a lemon purse accessory. I didn't by anything. If I were dying to get something, it would have been the lemon purse accessory. It was something like $4 and was cute. Luckily, my willpower had kicked in. If you are looking for quality-made clothing, this store isn't for you. However, if you have disposable income and enjoy donating your clothes often, H&M is the place to be. (223)

They started out primarily with monochromatic themes like Club Monaco but created pieces with unbelievably gorgeous pastels. After popularity struck it's been paired with Versace, Madonna & very high paid models for runway shows. Contrary to popular belief , the quality isn't the best but when you have brand power, it really does not matter if the stitching is only going to last you 2 night of sit down dinners. I really prefer this location to the mall H&M stores. 4 reasons 1) you can find 2 seasons worth of stuff here. Excellent for those of you who enjoy dressing themselves to the beat of your drum rather than choosing out of what is 'in'. 2) most of the cute items that are in the current weeks shipment will be on sale here 3) very few sales people and big location = shopping at your own pace 4) loads of size availability Tip: if you make a visit in the afternoon (pick me up at lunch hour?) the line up is non existent, which is never the case for the mall H&M's. Happy shopping :) xoxo M.

Now this Canadian brand has really exploded, with many styles going viral on the web. The quality of the clothes has noticeably depreciated while the prices steadily increase. But it remains one of the few shops that carries pieces that are small enough to fit me, and embodies the simultaneous sexy and sophisticated look I aspire to. I popped into this Queens st location with a group of ladies, and we rationalized our purchases by telling ourselves it costs less to shop at this brand in Canada than in the US. While I am slowly working my way away from fast fashion, I definitely pick up pieces here and there that I wear for years.

While I am not traditional-sized, I am in the Aritzia size range and have never had an issue finding the Butter line in my size, which is 12-16 depending on the store. I wasn't shocked to see most of the items here at this location are medium, small, or X-small. All of that is fine, and I get it. What I don't get is the need for your staff to be so deeply unpleasant and unprofessional. I was with my partner, and we both made attempts to ask for help in finding a size. One staff member kept avoiding me, and even when I made eye contact and asked for help, she kept pretending like she didn't see me. Another one literally looked me up and down, like full read, and smiled and loudly said, "We don't have your size here." I said fair enough and went on my way. When I was leaving, some bleach-blond person almost hit me with a door and straight up just stood there giving me a dirty look. The security here is nicer than the staff. First visit and last visit to this location.

RW&Co is part of the Reitman's family and caters towards the moderately trendy young professionals…read more I think of it as being a cross between Gap casual with a slight spin towards office wear of Banana Republic. The store hasn't changed much over the year and neither have the style. It's mostly office casual with the occasional piece that says 'suitable for a lunch date'. Most days the store is clean with all pieces nicely displayed. There's no confusion on what you're looking at unless you're looking at the clearance section. That rack is usually a mess and a half with random sizing every where. That being said, you can easily find some good finds with items being at least 50% off. As for the quality, I would say it's decent... you wont find luxury materials or really nice tailoring. It has a super reasonable price point (sweaters start from $40 and can hit upwards to $55) and I wouldn't expect merino wool. Things do fit a little generously. I think most pieces benefit from layering. A tank here, a cardigan here, a belt, and a cute longer skirt to match. And there you have your basic office attire. As for service, I've found this more miss than hit... no rudeness but apathy may best describe most of the staff. They do acknowledge you as you walk in. For those people who are looking good basics, I feel RW&Co is a decent spot to establish your closets without burning through your first pay cheque. Especially if you're shopping during the sale time frame. Best to check at the end of the seasons and you may score some really good deals.

They also do a 25% off on your birthday offer so be sure to sign up before your bday! In August/September they also do a deal for teachers purchasing clothes. Again it's somewhere in the 20-25% off range. They've started selling silver brand jeans and Kenneth Cole items in the store, so it may be the start of including more name brand pieces in their collections. Talked with one salesperson and she told me that she would get back to me when they located the items but, they are extremely busy with consignments so it may take some time. I am still waiting. I'm sadden by all the nasty reviews about the ladies working there. I guess you get what you deserve. Treat people with respect and honesty, and for the most part they will treat you well. I have seen nasty consignors and customers there.. asking for discounts (it's already a discount store... ), arguing about the store consignment policy and pricing, etc - so I can see why this can lead to trouble. On a personal level, I dealt with a few of their staffers, and they went over and beyond to find my unsold items after expiry date. There's a review about "the Asian girl" (as one of the reviewers calls her)... super nice, actually. She called me on my cell to let me know she found them and had them aside for me to pick up. As a consignor.. the usual policy is like everywhere else. 55-60% to the store is standard for the mid-range. You only get 50% for super high end items, usually priced over $500 or so in places like VSP, etc. Sure they have to be picky when selective their merchandise; their objective is to sell the stuff they take, not to clean up your closet of everything you bring. The stuff is ok; yes, some are overpriced and I wish they went on sale more often, but this is not staff's fault. It's also about what you see as value. If you expect a Value Village, this isn't it (thank goodness). I had times when I left with tons of scores, and times when I left empty handed. Frankly, few of us need anything for the most part so it's impulse shopping like any other clothing store... I wish the store looked a little more creative, but at the end of the day, Winners isn't any better. Again, be open minded and kind and you can have a great time scouring.. :)
