I love UniQLo for their comfy yet stylish clothing. I wish they had more stores in GTA. Their Heattech line of clothing is very popular and they have tights, leggings, socks, pants, shirts, tops, etc that keep you warm during cold season and also are good for layering up. This store tries to play up scale but fails miserably. At the core of Japanese excellence is customer service, yet it's tough to find staff for help. A strong comparison can be drawn with the MUJI store nearby. MUJI stores have cashier staff to serve you and Uniqlo wants you to use the self-serve kiosk to pay. Not only that, they want you to pay 99 cents for a paper bag yet there's only one size (leaning on the large side). There's a big disparity between what I expect from Uniqlo and what I see from my shopping experience. But at least the store is bright, clean and aisles are easy to navigate around I suppose. read more

"Welcome to Uniqlo!" Is what the 20 Uniqlo employees will tell you when you walk in. When I first visited Uniqlo, I really did not like what they had. Now after a dozen times of visiting, I think it's one of my favourite stores for basics that are good quality for a decent price, and it's an even better bargain when things go on sale. I enjoy the different dimensions within their clothing; i.e heattech, airism, etc. I love the functionality of their clothing and they often think of function over form. I say that as every skirt or pant I bought has POCKETS but sometimes things don't look as good or fit well. I'd be wary buying online without ever trying it on as sometimes even though I'm confident in my size, Uniqlo is either WAY too large or WAY too small. Some styles, although looks super duper amazing on the model/mannequin, fits weirdly and makes you unflattering, especially as I am someone with curves. Another negative is that once the product is gone, it's gone forever. Many times I've been hit with disappointment as they had no more sizes in that product, none online, and none that will ever be restocked. #sadlife Service has always been great here. It's hard to believe this Uniqlo isn't a flagship store with it's cool ticker board and 2 full stories of goodies. They seem to really be pushing their app as there were signs throughout the store advertising the extra savings that you can get through the app. The store is pretty well organized and I can tell why, there were so many employees bustling throughout! I liked that they left you to browse to your hearts content. I wouldn't say that I'm a die hard Uniqlo fan or anything but I love their super soft fleeces. They do feel a little different between the women's and men's. The women's seemed softer even though they were both labelled as fleece. One thing that I noticed is that they don't really have basic cotton leggings. They had the AIRism and heattech ones that were a lot thicker than your average pair of leggings. Better quality but they were more expensive as well. read more

This Uniqlo just opened a day ago & its very busy today. I bought some tops here, slippers, pants, and a fall coat. Prices were pretty good I think. Now the test will be if they wear well over time. They only have one fitting room for men, women & kids so be prepared for a line up. Also you're only allowed to try on 3 pieces of clothing at a time. If you have more than 3 items you put it in a basket & they give you a token for your basket so you can come back for the other stuff. But if the line up is long then once you exit your change room you may have to line up again. read more

Wow! I'm really impressed! I came to Uniqlo for the first time last weekend and was really impressed. They sell modern staples that every woman needs in her wardrobe at an excellent price point. Uniqlo also sells men, teen and children apparel. The apparel is modern and simple yet still unique. The fabrics used feel delightful and the craftsmanship is fantastic! Most of the apparel throughout the store was really soft and sewn really well. I bought a summer dress, an amazing spring sweater and a turtleneck, since I'm always cold. My dad told me my sweater was the nicest sweater he had ever seen me wear. I wear nice things all of the time so this may have been an exaggeration but I am really happy with my purchases and can't wait to go back. The only flaw with the store is the employees don't really provide much customer service and it was difficult to find the sweater that was on display but stacked on the shelf on another aisle. Luckily, my friend was able to spot it. I am definitely a fan of this store. I like the quality and style much more than H&M or Zara which have comparable price points. Uniqlo is a great place to buy work apparel and items for your down time. I am definitely a fan and wish I went there when they first opened. read more

I'm really happy that Uniqlo finally expanded to Canada. I've always gone crazy over shopping at Uniqlo when down in the US or overseas in Hong Kong as well, and indeed when I returned to Toronto for the holidays I did the same thing. First of all, I was happy to see that prices were reasonable and of typical Uniqlo pricing. I know many of us were afraid that there'd be some markup, since many chains expanding to Canada are known to do that for some reason. The variety of clothing available is also comparable to American stores, with a stronger focus here on heattech clothing, given the colder climate here. One thing of note is that the sizes here are largely tailored to the Asian body (smaller physique), therefore you may have to up a size if you feel your usual size is too tight/small. I did find a staffing issue in this store. It definitely wasn't easy to find staff across the whole store, which is rather unfortunate. There are a lot of cashiers however, so checkout is very efficient here. If you've never been inside a Uniqlo store, I definitely recommend visiting at least once to see quality clothing at affordable prices. read more

I've been wanting to come to uniqlo for over a year now. Finally came to Toronto and I wasn't leaving without visiting it! It's huge! They have two floors. The first one is for men and women. The second one has a children section as well. They sell all the must-haves! To me, someone who buy cheap 5$ shirts, spending 40$ on a crew neck shirt seemed way too intense, but my boyfriend assured me that the material is worth it. The staff at the dressing rooms were incredible! They were friendly and took the time to greet me. They even apologized for running out of change rooms! They gave me a basket for my stuff and they were just a lot nicer than the usual busy fitting room staff. The staff can also get you a different size if you took the wrong one. There are dressing rooms and cash registers on both floors. The staff can quickly check if they have a certain size by scanning the article of clothing. Their sizes fit me well, but their clothes are not made for tall, large stereotypical Canadians. Their large sizes are long and thin. Not wide. They can also tailor your pants for free. Not shirts though. Some of the staff on the floor were a bit rude and dismissive, but I assume those are isolated cases. The other downside is that the store is very big, so hard to navigate from time to time All in all, uniqlo lived up to my expectations. I can't wait for my next trip! read more

I was excited to see that Uniqlo has opened up in Toronto. Yorkdale is a gongshow for parking but I'll go there just to shop at Uniqlo. Every time I go they are always neat and organized. Prices are ok, I mainly just buy the UTGP graphic t-shirts. They usually go for $14.90 or $19.90, sales on remaining stock usually a month or two after release. read more

I love this store and was so excited to see it in Yorkdale.  The store is bright and open and clean and very well stocked.  There are two floors, including clothes for men, women and kids.  I mainly only shopped in the women's section and was there for a long time.  The quality and the price of the clothes is what I love, as well as the fact that they have so many great staples for my wardrobe.  From the time I walked in to the time I left, I was greeted and smiled at several times but didn't feel overwhelmed with help either.  The dressing room was a bit crazy, as I had nine items to try on and was only able to take 3 with me at a time.  I did have to wait a bit but I didn't mind.  Checking out was very easy and pleasant and the woman at cash was very cheerful.  Will definitely come back. read more

Seems like a nice store but I always seem to to have some kind of problem. Otherwise great store great prices and great location. One of the time I was not able to return an item for which I was wrongly charged. The reason I was not able to return it is because supposedly it was a final sale item. Huge store!!! No Christmas holidays sales. I ended up buying a light down jacket. The following week, it went on sale. Sales should happen during holiday sales!! Also, their down jackets are not descriptive enough regarding the fill rate. I think they said "up to" down rating. Not sure if I would shop here again. read more

I LOVE this store and this is how you handle an expansion into Canada. Despite it being opening weekend, everything is well stocked and plenty of cash registers open; so no one is left waiting in line for anything for very long. The only longish line was for the change rooms,which they tried to keep moving as much as possible. For opening weekend there was a 3 item limit - which works out ok. Pricing is on par or very similar to the US pricing - which was a nice surprise. Alternations are more or less free, unless you want a different edge or stitching; which would be extra. I am not sure what the turnaround time is exactly, but staff told me it could be around 1 to 5 days. But you can always bring it back to the store for alternations with your receipt. The only lack of stock was mostly found in the baby area, but overall there was plenty of stuff to go around. Staff are very helpful and cheerful. Overall, I am so happy that they finally expanded into Canada and it certainly feels like they did it right. Well worth the wait! read more

Here is an update. I emailed their Canadian customer service by email which is listed at the bottom of the receipt. The response I received was a joke. It did not give me an explanation, but instead it left me with more questions with regards to the lack of quality training their customer service people received. They email response which I have copy and pasted in here is a copy of their US exchange and refund policy. How does this help me? I'm from Canada and I bought my item at a Canadian Uniqlo. The moment it was announced (almost two years ago!) that Uniqlo will be opening in Toronto, I thought...FINALLY! It has been a long time coming. Uniqlo at Yorkdale is the second location to open in Canada, following the one at Eaton Centre. (I cannot compare the two as I have yet to visit the Eaton Centre location.) I have always loved Uniqlo for its quality, affordability, style, and most importantly for me, its fit. This location offers a wide selection of the same versatile, high-quality products, as expected, plus special collaborations with designers like Christophe Lemaire and Ines de la Fressange. Even with the large crowd, the store remained clean and tidy, and there were many sales assistants throughout the store who always greeted us with a smile (and "Welcome to Uniqlo!"). Being 5'3", most of the long sleeves I own are at least an inch too long for my arms. Despite the Canadian expansion, Uniqlo has not changed its fit as smaller sizing is available...and I hope it will remain this way! I don't recall the sizing of Uniqlo's denim jeans when I last tried on a pair. However, I discovered today that a Slim Boyfriend Fit in size 23 is way bigger than expected...and it was the smallest size available... One major complaint about Uniqlo at Yorkdale is regarding their fitting rooms. Only 3 items are allowed into your fitting room at any one time. You have to check in your basket (similar to a coat check) and pick up your basket from the same desk. The entrance to the fitting rooms on the ground level is quite small, so several people just gathered around the desk, which made it a bit confusing. Nonetheless, I love Uniqlo even more now that it is located so much closer to home. I can't wait to see what other collaborations will pop up in our stores! read more

I wanted to return an item. The first cashier I spoke to said I could only exchange since my return time-frame was past due. She confidentally explained I was able to exchange for any item as long as it equalled or exceeded the price of $29.99. I spent a good hour looking for an item I liked in order to do the exchange. When I finally found a sweater I liked they didn't have my size. The second cashier I spoke to helped me greatly by going through storage in order to find my size. I expressed my gratitude and excitedly went to go exchange my item, only to be told by the manager that I actually could NOT do the exchange because of the past due date. I explained the whole situation to him about what cashier #1 explained to me and how much help I received from cashier #2, but he insisted I couldn't exchange. I could only then give him a description of what cashier #1 looked like since there were no name tags. It's extremely frustrating as a customer to spend an hour in a store trying to figure out a solution to your problem only to have miscommunication and insconsistency with store policies ruin your experience. To top it all off, the manager allowed the customer ahead of me to return a jacket which was purchased the previous year. . . But I can't exchange a top purchased in July? So now I'm stuck with an item I'm not going to use and a frustrating experience. -_- P.s. There needs to be more than 1 cashier available to do returns/exchanges. Terrible return policy. No exchanges on any baby items, even if it's completely unopened sealed in its original package. it's UNOPENED, NEW, SEALED. Why a global business cannot accommodate for a simple gift exchange (when Amazon has 3 months exchange on all baby items, even free returns, when just about everything in retail stores can be exchanged)--I do not understand. Terrible customer service too. At store and online, simply said to go look at the policy. Your policy is ridiculous for such a large retail business. I discovered Uniqlo in Asia and US. Clearly Uniqlo Canada sucks. Please don't buy baby gifts from here since its not exchangable and baby needs always changes. read more

I used to pass UNIQLO straight until they announced a location near my home, then I decided to check it out. Now, I'm very excited they're bringing it to Markham! Great selection of clothing of all styles with great prices, especially their graphic tees, the Mickey Mouse is my favourite! The store usually has several employees running around working and everyone makes you feel welcome. Very bright and great atmosphere. I also noticed that they retain some traditional Japanese culture, after I paid for some clothes, the lady thanked me and bowed, which is a traditional Japanese gesture to greet someone or say goodbye. This is a first for me. Customer Service tells me that Uniqlo stores do not take calls from "the public". Ie. from customers. Yup. It's true. The phone numbers provided are meaningless as they will not answer the phone. So, if you have a question, you physically have to go to the store. How is that for customer service!?!?!? Btw....I had to call US Customer Service to get this information. This is bizarre and incredibly self-serving for Uniqlo. A new low in retail. read more
