The homemade ice cream is our favorite thing to buy, especially in the summer when they will sell a seasonal peach flavor! We also love the candies, local jams, and honey. The owner has always been incredibly kind to us, even going out of her way to provide us with advice for our hiking experience. Everyone should stop by this local, homey, perfect little store when given the chance!

The market is a short 5-6 minute drive from Lexington, and even closer to Buena Vista. First Catch recieves seafood in small quantities, 3x/week, so pre-ordering is definitely a good idea. That said, I walked in and had no problem getting 1lb of beautiful Texas pink shrimp. From market to grill, the time lapse was only 30 minutes- that's convenient! The shrimp had good texture and natural taste, and were no doubt as fresh as could be. I definitely reccomend First Catch Seafood Market to anybody who has a legitimate taste for fresh seafood. Having lived 3 months of every year for the past 5 years on the coast of North Carolina, I consider myself a well-versed seafoodie. You won't find any S.E. Asian farmed seafood here- and that's a good thing. Bypass Kroger, Food-Lion, or wherever you shop normally and definitely make the trek to First Catch for any seafood need- it won't let you down (just make sure to call ahead and verify if they have what you're looking for/pre-order if necessary)!
