    Gross' Orchard apple trees

My husband and I had our pictures taken at this beautiful orchard. The people working were so kind, and welcoming. The apples were wonderful and they have lots of other goodies in their little shop!

. The drive out is quite scenic too, especially if combined with a trip up to the Peaks of Otter.

Keep your camera handy! Pumpkins are large and $0.60/lb. Apples are $20 peck bag and $30 1/2 bushel bag. Picked pink ladies. Also had Arkansas black and gold rush. I suggest long clothes and bug spray...lots of flies, bees, ladybugs, other insects, and burs. Definitely full of nature. Our six year old complained of bug bites often. Adults were bit a few times but no marks or anything. The driveway was one lane leading to some stressful situations with speeders. There wasn't much information available about picking options, locations, etc., when we arrived. When we advised it was our first time and inquired about information, we got a basic 'these are the apple bag sizes and costs, pumpkins are down the road'. Other locations were very welcoming and informative. Who owned the farm. How long it had been there. How they grew their produce and stayed focused on quality and community, etc. But I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that under normal circumstances, i.e., not in a pandemic, there would be more information, more staff, and possibly other activities. There weren't any apple picking tools, so we couldn't reach many of the best looking apples. We sat on the tailgate and ate our warm donuts. There weren't any tables, chairs or other snacks or food. Not sure if it's picnic friendly. Didn't see an apple washing station. There is a portable sink next to the portable toilets. Other than apples, pumpkins, and the store, there were some bunnies, billy goats, and donkeys with a $0.25 feed dispenser. Our LO always loves feeding the animals. They did not sell bottled water, and the hike up the hill to the pink ladies left us panting, so be sure to bring some! We enjoyed the time we spent simply picking apples and pumpkins, but our six year old asked repeatedly about other things to do.. The other small family farms we visited with hay bales to climb on, corn to play in, apple toss games, pumpkin painting, etc might have spoiled him a little. But he was content for almost two hours with just picking apples and pumpkins and an apple cider slushy. He was so excited he found a big pumpkin that he said it was the best pumpkin patch ever! It's a beautiful location for PYO APPLES AND PUMPKINS, which was hard to find. They also aren't charging any entry fees. If simply PYO is what you seek, you've found it. This may not be the place for a half day/all day family fall outing and picnic (at least not in 2020) but you could add in Skyline Drive or Natural Bridge or other areas activities to make a day of it. IMHO, try everything once, twice if you like it! I can't wait to read your reviews.

I love this place. It's where I pick blueberries and blackberries in the summer, and where I pick…read moreup bushels of already-picked peaches and apples. If you've had any of the blueberry, blackberry, or peach jam, or apple butter or apple sauce or apple cider jelly from me, well, this is where I get the fruit. The folks at the orchard are super helpful, and they have a good memory with regard to their customers and their preferences. And it's a sweet little place, too -- the views while picking fruit are just gorgeous. And the store carries preserves and other items, including fresh-pressed cider which is delicious. I cannot recommend them highly enough. And after you've spent a morning picking berries or picking up bushels of apples, swing by Woodruff's for a piece of pie on the way home. I tend to think of these two places in tandem, they've become that much of a habit for me.
