I hiked Flat Top today and I was starving and I also had to pee really badly, so I stopped here because my husband said that Peaks Lodge buffet would be way too sketchy. They have both breakfast and lunch including sandwiches and hotdogs. We got sandwiches and two big bags of chips and I also bought ice cream and an apple pie (that actually looked like a mountain) and after that I blacked out but I know I spent around $50. They put jalapeño peppers on sandwiches if you ask for it and then a Hispanic man came in and they greeted him in Spanish so that's basically all you need to know to determine their character. I plan to go back and buy a bunch of canned goods for stocking stuffers because who doesn't want good local food for Christmas? No one. They also have fresh produce and a super creepy painting of a bunny.

This is a locals spot. I think they come for produce and some of the fresh made baked goods. I did buy some strawberry ice cream that was delicious. The shelves were stocked with jars that look like they have been there a long time. Some were covered in dust and some of the food looked faded. They have a small food preparation are for take away food. I think there may be a bit of seating outside. Whatever they were cooking when we came in was smoking up the store. So go get some ice cream and fruit!

This is where we stop on our way to Peaks of Otter, for our pre-hike, take-out breakfast sandwiches. I get bacon, egg & cheese with lettuce, tomato & mayo on white bread (not toasted). It's amazing - just like Grammy used to make! My husband gets the same but without the bacon & the kids enjoy the biscuit sandwiches. This is also a good opportunity to pick up any last minute drinks or trail snacks. While you're waiting for your sandwiches, check out their big assortment of sauces, jams, jellies & preserves. And (of course) they beautiful fresh fruit & produce. Right now the peaches look crazy good! Otw home, (post-hike), you can always stop for homemade peach ice cream - or try one of the other flavors like cantaloupe or mango! This is our 4th annual trip to SML. Every year we hike Peaks of Otter & every year we stop here at Mountain Fruit & Produce first. The people are ridiculously nice & accommodating. The restroom is clean & the food is delicious & affordable. For all of these reasons, it's become a "Bee" Family Tradition!

Good service and a charming, historic facility can't compensate for our disastrous meals during a…read morelunch visit. We both tried the chicken with cornbread stuffing lunch entrees. After waiting about 20 minutes our server brought us a roll baked inside of a small crock and served with a tiny serving of cherry butter. The roll was warm but not warm enough to melt the butter. The cherry butter was amazing and something I've never tried; it was the best part of our meal. Our meals finally arrived after another 15 or 20 minutes. The chicken had clearly been grilled to order and was cooked long past done. It was a dry, flavorless morass. The flavorless "stuffing" was unlike any other stuffing I've ever had, but it clearly had been cooked in the past and was just bad. The promised hot honey was MIA. My sweet potato casserole had likely been sitting in the cooler until scooped up, thrown in a serving tray and moved to the oven. If the casserole had been freshly prepared it would have been excellent, but as served it was lukewarm, unattractively presented and tasted like leftover sweet potato casserole that was past its prime. My dining companion tried the corn pudding and thought it wasn't bad but it also looked like it was dredged up from the cooler. Olde Liberty Station's kitchen is in need of an overhaul. We won't be back.

The vinaigrette dressing really saved it flavor wise. The veggies tasted fresh. My boyfriend said that the rice as a side was not worth it since they gave only a little. The smashed potatoes were not seasoned that well. Our server was kind. We luckily got a window seat so the view was very nice. Overall, a mid food experience but with a beautiful view.

I'm writing now because this place has completely turned around since our last visit. The food was delicious. It was elevated southern that matched the beautiful surroundings. Loved the bourbon apple pork chops, smoked pimento cheese, cornmeal trout, and blackberry margarita. The service was also amazing. We came in with a large group with small children at a busy time. The host worked hard to seat us as soon as possible, and the waitress was friendly, helpful, and worked well with our irregular ordering pattern to accommodate our kids. Thank you to ExplorUS for providing a service worthy of this amazing venue!
