Straightforward coffee shop on a very busy street. I stopped in here on a chilly day to get a coffee and warm up. The space was fairly minimalist and there was a table for two available. Unfortunately, it was close to the door and stayed a little cold, but it was better than outside! I got a vanilla latte and they got me a nice frothed vanilla latte that did the trick! The process of ordering and gathering our drinks was a little confusing. We put in our order, then got a number, but then had to go up to get our drinks. Not a big deal, but I got the impression that the staff was trying to just get our orders quick and that was just one of the byproducts. One thing to note is that the name of this cafe on the menu is different than what is on their menu. But I don't know them well enough to know which is correct. Overall, if you're looking to get a well-made coffee, this place is a great choice!

I was recently in Roanoke for a quick little weekend trip. We decided to check out the center in the square are for the day. It was absolutely FREEZING today. After walking around in the cold we decided to stop in for a nice hot drink. I decided I hadn't had a cappuccino in a while so that's what I ordered. A 16 ounce cappuccino freshly made for under $5 is a great deal. This is a small local business that's has a wide array of food items as well as delicious coffee options as well. The staff were super friendly and it was literally a matter of minutes until our drinks were delivered to us. Great little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Roanoke.

Stopped in while visiting the Roanoke City Market. The sticky bun was delicious, but the ham and cheddar scone needed more ham/cheddar/flavor. The 12oz oatmilk cappuccino and regular hot chocolate were not good. Service at the ordering counter was brusque, probably because it was during the lunch rush. Cafe seating is comfortable with plenty of tables.

My burnt tomato spinach and blue cheese pizza slice

He told me this was once his favorite pizza and wanted my opinion. It's located downtown so parking can be tricky. It's a tiny coffee shop type of establishment with wooden floors. No one said anything to us as we were in the front of the line. No greeting, nothing. We placed our order and was handed a placard. As we sat and waited, I looked around and saw many baked goods in the large fridge and on the back wall. Fresh breads, cakes, etc. I was a little disappointed that the baked goods were all out in the open and uncovered. He got the feta pizza and mine had blue cheese and spinach. Mine came with a slightly burnt crust. I don't mind it but for $5 a slice, I was hoping it wouldn't be burnt. It's a very thick and doughy crust. They clearly used fresh ingredients as toppings. The menu says you have to order an entire pizza a day in advance. We both agreed that the pizza was just OK. I would return because it's in a nice spot downtown and to try the baked goods. I would skip the pizza next time. I'm giving it a 4 because I like location and concept. The workers never even acknowledged me so I have to knock off a star for that and the burnt crust.

So I strolled in at 8:30 AM looking for a fresh pastry and bakery selection and was not disappointed. There was a line which always means a good thing, the coffee was piping hot and fresh and the selection is vast. I enjoyed a delicious asiago bagel with veggie cream cheese which was toasted to perfection and they had an enormous amount of pastry selections. They have a fabulous lunch menu as well and staff was super friendly and smiling. Quick to get your order done and even brought my order out to me and handed it to me which was a super personal touch! A great experience in Roanoke!

    Burnt Tuscan Veggie sandwich

I came here twice this week, but not because my first visit was so phenomenal I just had to go back for more: the Tuscan Veggies panini sandwich from my very first visit was burnt and was missing a side for my takeaway order, which really is bad for any customer to find out after finally sitting down for lunch. I called and the staff apologized, and I ended up going back the next day for a second time. Did they redeem themselves with the Italian sandwich? Yes and no. The baguette was dried out, and taking a bite off that rubbery baguette and chewing it hurt my jaw so much. The dressing was nice and understated. Tomato wheel really should be more substantial than what I got, which was a bit of a marvel given just how thin it was. Nice ham and salami, and the pepper had a major kick to it. At almost $10 though, I can think of several places in downtown where I'd get more value and enjoyment for my precious lunch time. Here's the thing: this place seems to have much potential, and I'd like to try their baked goodies, but I'm not sure if I'd ever get their sandwiches again.

I was not impressed by this place. For Regular coffee, you serve yourself from a pump canister that everyone touches. It felt dirty in there. Definitely overpriced. $6 for a small coffee. I expected better and I won't go back.

They had a nice cup of coffee and a large selection of cookies, brownies and pizzas. I got a salted caramel cheesecake brownie. It was a lot of flavor and a bit too sweet for my my taste. The spot would be a good place to meet up with friends.

Has to be served top down because it is so top heavy. And full of berries!!

I had just finished w cup of tea at another coffee house but I was craving some baked goods. When I saw this sign, I just knew that I had to come in, even if it meant that I had to drink another cup of tea. There were many items to chose from but my eyes fell on the blueberry muffins, and then it was all over. Too too heavy to stand upright on the plate, they put it top down. That should have been the first clue as to how good it was going to be. This was a real blueberry muffin, not one of those crappy posers who are all muffin and only a smattering of blueberries. This was the real thing with what seemed like almost as many blueberries as muffin. This by itself is enough for me to come back again...

My "hot" panini (French quarter) was not even warm. Tomato Cheddar soup is awesome as usual. I just wish my sandwich was grilled well.

I initially had called a few bakeries, including Bubblecake. From the first Phone Call, I was blown away at how accommodating & patient Hannah (I apologize if I mix and mismatched your names, ALTHOUGH I think I'm accurate) As the the hours FLEW by, I found myself with 70 minutes to get from Grandin, to Bubblecake (still unsure of my decision), to Best Buy (for final gift), back to Grandin, and to middle of Salem!!! As, I was on my way to Bubblecake (leaving the gas station in Grandin, because OF COURSE, my gas light) I called them and was inquiring about the cupcakes flavors, and sizes, but Kate was AMAZING! She was friendly and patient. She was explaining the size of the cupcakes with a comparison to her "fist", and because of my terrible hearing (thank you Marine Corps!), I thought she was saying fish, and finally understood "fist", so it made complete sense, and honestly helped me make my decision. When I walked into Bubblecake, I was greeted by Katie, and Hannah and up immediately. She answered all remaining questions, and helped me make my final decision. Hannah, Katie, and with the help of Ariana, BEAUTIFULLY prepared the 2 dozen of Strawberry Cupcakes with strawberry frosting in perfect packaging. Not only friendly, patient and BEYOND accommodating, but extremely proficient! The dream there is amazing, and to make it even better, everyone RACED about the cupcakes! When I mentioned where they were from, everyone agreed about how good "Bubblecake" is! Your reputation precedes you, but I want to thank Hannah, Katie, and Ariana for an absolutely stellar job from start to finish! I'll be back, and I know who my bakery is, celebration or not Thank you again ladies, and I'll see you in the future!

Surrounded by windows in almost all sides, it attracts the attention of those walking by as well as repeat customers who have already been through that initial experience. I am one of the second type. This is not my first time here, but the first time writing a review because I want the public to know about this fantastic place where sweet treasures can be discovered and enjoyed. The first impression when you walk in, is of how clean and organized the store is. Besides the great variety of sweet items neatly arranged, you can find the walls decorated with many artworks of many kinds and you can listen to relaxing music in the background. But this didn't just happen, a young lady and gentleman both are working arduesly bringing out the fresh cupcakes and arranging them neatly in their place. They warmly greet me and allow me to keep looking at all the items until I'm ready to make an order. While I continue looking, other customers with more experience and knowledge of the store and items come right in and order and take the items. They wrap everything so nicely that any of the items here can be bought and given as a gift to someone close. While the young man went to answer the phone, the young lady answers my question of if they still had the large cookie sandwiches that a good friend of mine and I bought last time I was here. She answers me in the affirmative and takes out a pan full of them with a transparent wrap covering them up. These things are not cheap but the taste is priceless. I ordered a couple of cookie sandwiches: one with dark chocolate and one with white chocolate. She nicely wrapped them and put them in a nice box bag with handles. I highly recommend this place when you're in the mood for something sweet or would like to buy something sweet as a gift for someone or bring something as a gift to a dinner invitation. All their dessert are amazingly delicious.

I have truly enjoyed dining in each and every one of them. But Bread Craft, located in the Star City of Roanoke, is in a class of its own. After being ranked 4th among Yelp's Top 50 Most Prolific Elites of 2025, a distinction recognizing my consistent community engagement and high-quality contributions, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and establishments, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to go back and write follow-up reviews on those places that impressed me the most during 2025, and Bread Craft Bakery, located in Downtown Roanoke, is the perfect example of one of them. Bread Craft is a premier, artisan European-style bakery established in 2006 by owner Alex Eliades, who besides having a passion for baking, has over 25 years of baking experience, and leads the bakery focusing on traditional slow-fermentation techniques. The bakery is known for its high-quality, scratch-made sourdough, pastries, and Croissants. It evolved from a wholesale operation into a popular 6,000 square foot café on Church Avenue, also supplying local restaurants. The bakery specializes in Franch and German-style baking, utilizing sourdough as a natural leavener. It servers breakfast and lunch items, including sandwiches, salads, and some creative breakfast egg entrées. They are open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8:00AM - 2:00PM and are well known for running out of items before the end of the day. For this review I visited the Bakery / Café for breakfast on two consecutive Wednesdays. The first Wednesday I arrived too late to be able to have their Chorizo & Eggs Cocotte from their Breakfast menu. Breakfast is only served until noon, and I found out about this on that day. So instead I had a Cheese Danish and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Both items were delicious. On the second Wednesday I arrived much earlier for breakfast. Luckily, right before a whole rush of customers arriving to place Take-out orders. As soon as I walked inside I immediately felt comfortable with its clean and contemporary architectural design and decor, and an exposed red brick wall that gave it a warm ambiance. One can see that the owner spent a substantial amount in renovating the place when they moved here, and that they took good care of it, because it looked as if it had just opened for the very first time yesterday. While I was looking over all the baked items they had, I received a friendly greeting and warm welcome from a lady behind the counter who seemed to be the manager and took my order. To start I ordered a Chorizo Quiche which happened to be the Quiche of the day, and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Then since I was planning to turn this into a Brunch, for my main entrée I ordered their Chorizo Cocotte from the Breakfast menu. And for dessert I had a Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant that was simply irresistible. Everything tasted amazingly delicious, especially since I love Chorizo. The Quiche had an amazing crust with the eggs inside cooked with the perfect amount of chorizo. The Chorizo Cocotte was served in an elongated bowl with two poached eggs over Spanish sausage, accompanied by three slices of freshly made Baguette. And if all this wasn't enough, the Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant was the perfect ending dessert to this fabulous put together Brunch. Oh and the coffee was the best of the best. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food. What an outstanding dining experience I just had at Bread Craft. Wonderful ambiance, amazing food, and extraordinary customer service. I highly recommend this Bakery/Café whenever you're in the area. Yet we have people with food allergies that can't afford this luxury. Corbin's Confections was born out of the motherly love of a mother for her son, Corbin, who is anaphylactic to peanuts and all tree-nuts. She wanted to create a bakery that her son and other's with similar allergies, can experience the joy of eating baked goods without having to worry that something would happen to them, because of some ingredient that the food contained. Her mission was "To provide a place where anyone with gluten, peanut, or tree-nut allergies can get tasty treats." Today, I had the opportunity to visit this bakery and meet with Shana, the owner of this women-owned business. She was so friendly and welcoming and realized the service she was providing the community was a very special one. She told me that all bakery items there were gluten free, peanut free, and tree-nut free. It is also mentioned on the store window, right under the name of the bakery. I thought to myself, how in the past some kids with food allergies might not want to attend birthday parties of their friends in order not to embarrassed by being the one one who didn't have a piece of the birthday cake. Well now, if the parents are aware that their sons and daughters have friends with food allergies, they can have the cake and other sweet treats made here, and that way, everyone can enjoy the party without any concern.
