Don't visit Olympia without including a trip to Red Door Interiors!…read more This creative Mother & Daughter (Kathy & Lara) team behind Red Door Interiors represent true interior design talent. They refurbish old and make new again (gorgeous furniture refinished and upholstered), feature the work of Pacific NW artists (paintings, jewelry, handbags, wallets and more!); you'll find something for everyone here. What is truly unique about what is offered here is the line created and trademarked by this team - RD Shady. Custom lamp shade 'wraps' (imagine if your lampshade had it's own jacket that could be changed as easily as you change your coat each day - that's RD Shady). These unique creations come in different sizes and coordinate with handmade table runners, pillow cases, night lights and more. Don't miss what' new in store for the holiday season; beautiful ornaments, home decor and gifts for even the most particular. I LOVE vases & bowls from Material Good here; 10% of proceeds on "little Shirleys" style vase go toward cancer research. A go to hostess gift for me:-) Thank you to Lara and Cathy for demonstrating what good old fashioned talent and passion can do to inspire a great offering as you've brought to the Olympia Community!

In 2010, as I was approaching sixty years of age, I found an amazing old (and run-down) homestead…read moresite near the southern tip of Puget Sound, and began imagining a house and studio. I've been a designer and fabricator of furniture and sculpture for over forty-five years, so it wasn't difficult to start developing ideas. As I dreamed I began looking around for assistance with the process, and found Artisans Group. I didn't go to Artisans Group looking for an industry-leading eco-home. I came because I saw a couple of their projects and loved the clean modern style Tessa Smith and Randy Foster were putting together. They were realizing designs that seemed to me to be far beyond what other design/build groups were creating. Architecture has been a fascination most of my life, and what I saw in the lines and volumes Tessa was producing was a natural feel for proportions, for minimal and unique details, for the flow of life patterns in a home, and particularly for the play of light, natural and artificial, as it enhances and defines spaces and the experience of living. With Tessa and Artisans I got all of that plus a great experience of collaboration in design, and a house that always surprises me--because it is somehow more "me" than I would have designed by myself. It's a "world house," designed with details and technological solutions that are distinctly European and soundly ecological in a way that just makes sense. The house stays at comfortable temperatures with the air always fresh while using a tenth of the energy of my last house. The biggest surprise was when I moved in and found the experience to be more physically comfortable than I would have--or could have--imagined. The house seems to have its own body temperature, and wears like a glove. The Jewel Box (as we nick-named it during the design process) was designed to be a home and gallery. It has become a museum of my life's work and remains so comfortable and inspiring that I stay home wondering why I would want to be anywhere else. Artisans did it right, and I moved in a month before that sixtieth birthday. Over eight years later I'm still daily grateful that I get to live here. I love this place. -Don Freas (donfreas.com)

After a year of house hunting in the Olympia area to no avail, I reached out to Artisans Group to…read moredesign a home for my family. I ended up finding a not-so-perfect home in the perfect neighborhood and knew I wanted Artisans Group to help with the remodel. This proved to be the best decision I could have made. Throughout the process I always had my expectations met and exceeded, as the team at AG proved to be attentive, genuine, and innovative in their approach to the design of our home. I liked this company so much that after our home was completed, I went to work for them as a designer. Can't say enough good things about Artisans Group, as a client and designer, working with a team that is as passionate about their craft as Artisans Group makes all the difference.

I begin this review by saying I have reached the point where I have no alternative but to take this…read morebusiness to Small Claims Court. Here's why: Early last August we met with a sales rep to begin an order for blinds at our living room, dining room, and kitchen. It wasn't until mid-September that blinds were ready to install. During the install of the living room blinds, we discovered that they were not motorized, as we requested. Also, the dining room's large set of windows wasn't yet complete so they had to re-order those, too, because of lack of motorization. Finally, on Oct. 22, Mark installed our motorized blinds. One of 3 of the living room blinds didn't work, so he told us he would reorder the blind. Also, the blinds in the dining room operate the opposite direction we need. Mark said, "Oh well." Mean time they fired our sales rep. We have been pleading with owner, Gavin, ever since to correct this. He refuses to honor their 90-day warranty for a bad blind and then tells us in a google review that we should expect 100% satisfaction. Well Gavin, when will you make good on this.? You refuse to return our calls, emails, and even visits to your store! This is the worst company in Olympia for customer service. Steer clear and save yourself a lot of misery.

My experience with Olympic Blinds has been unacceptable and reflects serious failures in warranty…read moresupport, communication, and leadership accountability. Olympic Blinds took possession of my blinds for a warranty issue and kept them for approximately seven months. They still have them! Throughout that time, delays were repeatedly attributed to the manufacturer, yet no clear timeline or resolution was provided. Communication has been consistently poor. The vice president of the company, who is also the owner's son and was responsible for handling this issue, did not return phone calls, voicemails, or emails from either me or my husband. Communication, when it occurred at all, was limited to text messages. During this process, I was told things like "It's busy season" and that they would "get to it when they can." I was also told that pursuing small claims court would be "a waste of time and money." Twice I have been told my blinds were on there way back from the manufacturer. I still have no blinds. Despite these assurances, months have passed with no resolution. I was given inconsistent information and had to repeatedly follow up just to get basic updates. At one point, I contacted the manufacturer directly and was told they were waiting on authorization from Olympic Blinds to proceed. Even after requesting a refund, the owner never contacted me at any point during the seven months this issue has continued. After researching further, I noticed that many Yelp reviews describe similar issues, including poor communication, extended delays, and difficulty with warranties. My experience closely mirrored those complaints. The lack of responsiveness, follow-through, and accountability -- particularly at the management level -- resulted in a significant waste of my time and left me without my blinds or a resolution. Based on how this situation is being handled, I would not recommend Olympic Blinds to anyone who expects reliable warranty service, professional communication, or timely follow-through
