It is easily a short drive from downtown Livermore with no crazy twists or turns. The cost is only $5 for parking paid at the entrance of the patch. So park first and then pay at a fold up table at the entrance. You can choose to purchase tickets for rides or a wristband for unlimited rides. Even if you only choose to just walk around, there's lots to see including goats, cows, pumpkins, and decorations. There are plenty of picture opportunities. The people working there were nice. 1-Star Review We had originally booked Joan's Farm for our children's birthday party in October, and the reservation was confirmed in writing. After asking if we could have one hour instead of 30 minutes for setup, which was simply a request, we were suddenly told, "we don't believe our venue is right for you." By that point, we had already sent out invitations to our guests. Two days later, after we questioned why our confirmed reservation was being cancelled, Kim told us that because we had already sent out the invitations, we "may come" on October 25. She referred to allowing us to come as a "courtesy" and said it would be only if we followed the rules. At no point had we been given any reason to believe that we would not follow the rules or policies explained to us. What was especially disappointing was the way our communication was characterized. We had asked many questions because we had never been to the venue or seen the party area, and we wanted to make sure everything was properly planned for our children's birthday. We were polite throughout and consistently thanked and appreciated Kim for taking the time to answer our questions in our emails. We also continued communicating by email because Kim had specifically told us that email was the better way to get our questions answered. Kim's handling of the situation was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, and we felt genuinely insulted and unwelcome. We ultimately decided not to have our children's birthday party there and made other arrangements. This was so much fun today. We got there fortunately before the rains came in later in the afternoon so we had a wonderful time before all the pasture land turns muddy. There's so many things that a person can do there whether you're just going to pick up pumpkins or you wanna take your kids through the gate so they can go play in a bounce house or you just wanna go see some from animals. there's something there for everyone young and old. It was so much fun watching the kids getting excited picking out their pumpkins for Halloween and watching the adults. Talk about their memories of their favorite Halloween. Very cool farm. We came here today for pumpkin patch school field trip and it was a lot of fun. Petting zoo and feeding goats and sheep, maize fun, bouncy house, little train ride and pumpkin bowling were some of the activities that we did. We missed the hayride as it is only available in the weekend. We spent over 3 hrs and kids had a blast! It was beautiful sunny day and windy too so we didn't feel too hot. Porta potties were available and in decent condition. Lots of shaded areas with picnic tables to rest and eat. A food stand sells hot dog, pumpkin pie, soda and bottles water else. Portable toilets are available. Hand washing stations are also available in multiple locations. The kids come in for field trip are having fun. Besides the inflatable slides, corn maze and train ride, there's a petting zoo. The small set up of museum by the entrance is very thoughtful too. Overrated. They do not grow anything at the "farm". Pumpkins are trucked in and rows of Gaylord's are visible. For those of you not in the know. A "Gaylord" is a large heavy duty cardboard shipping container about 5 x 5 feet. I have never seen a farm with an ATM machine. this place has 2. Kinda has that wanna be "Knox berry farm vibe' but falls very short. Plastic cast cowboys , horses, carriages are around the area nilly willy. Would be better if a few live people and animals were around. Parking lot has an abundance of star thistle thorns so watch where you walk if you have a dog especially. The whole place is not organized well and could use a good leveling of uneven surfaces and rocks that abound. They warn you about this with a sign stating they are not liable for pretty much anything that can go wrong. Smells of greed to me. get little for your money. read more

Our son's first school field trip was at Joan's Pumpkin Patch. It was definitely a chaotic but fun-filled day, since basically the whole school was invited here and not just one class. My impressions is that Joan's definitely has that county fair, rustic feel. They have many activities beyond pumpkins, though things are more spread out and its a bit dusty here. Things we enjoyed: 1. Animal feeding - take your pick between donkeys and goats. They eat right out of your hand and it feels like a wet hand massage, LOL. 2. The kids playground area - yeah its a bit modern but really nice to have all those gigantic kettlebell-like balloons everywhere. Older kids may like the giant inflatable bounce-house / giant slide. 3. I liked how they had lots of props and great background for photos scattered around. Dislikes 1. Limited food options - just hot dogs or chili and its cash only. They do offer an excellent pumpkin pie though - very creamy and sweet. No need for whip cream. 2. The dust! I know real farms are expected to be dusty but for a more dust-free experience, we like G&M farms, also in Livermore. 3. The pumpkin patch itself was arranged randomly - so you literally have to walk in between. At G&M Farms you had rows and rows of pumpkin patches so much easier to move around and find that perfect pumpkin to take home. Overall 3 stars - definitely recommend if you enjoy seeing farm animals and want to experience rustic farm life, with the associated smells and dust. We are suburban folk and prefer a modern, less dusty experience with more food options. Our preferred pumpkin patch is probably G&M. read more

My family and I had a wonderful time introducing our baby to the pumpkin patch! Joan's was the perfect place for this! We loved that it's off the beaten path and not on the side of a highway. The animals were friendly and adorable and there were tons of great photo ops and Activities to enjoy with the family. Today is the last Friday before Joan's farm close for the year. They are only open during the month of October. We brought our dogs to visit today because they allow dogs on leash. We arrived at 10:30am and the place was packed! There were some school kids field trips. If you are a animal lover, you would love this places There are so many animals. Cows, horses, goats & donkeys. We didn't visit the area where you can feed the animals but there is one. The staff were super friendly and on our way out, I got a slice of pumpkin pie and roasted corn nuggets. Both were really good! We will for sure come back again next year. - Free parking on site - bring cash for food and rides - train ride, slide, petting zoo for kids The only thing I wish the farm can improve is remove the 2 signs that says "Beef a healthy choice , good for breakfast , lunch and dinner" right next to the cows area. This is such a cute farm and a must see during the Fall time! I'm so happy my friend found this place and I hadn't realized it was such a staple in East Bay. The animals were adorable and I was so surprised how friendly they were. The donkeys were very cute and trying to see if we were hiding food in our pockets. Haha! Very cute farm & pumpkin patch in the east bay. One thing that we liked right away was that this feels like a farm from the moment you drive on the property. Plenty of signs along the route to ensure it's easy to find. Prices for activities is comparable to most if not better, $25 for unlimited activities. Only dislike is the artificial turf used in the activity area does have tripping hazards in the kiddy play area with uneven surfaces & gaps in the blow up maze. Highly recommend if you have unstable walkers or toddlers to wear pants, will save you from ouchies. Great pumpkin patch. Love that parking and entry is free! Came on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Only reason I wanted to visit was because they allowed dogs. We walked around, my dog sniffed out all the farm animals and pumpkins of all sizes. We went through the corn maze (not sure if dogs were allowed but no one was at the front so we just strolled in). They have a snack shake with some food and shaved ice! They also had an inflatable playground, pumpkin bowling, and a very small train ride. I have been coming to Joan's Pumpkin Patch since I was a young child, so it holds alot of special memories for me. The last few years my husband and I have been making it a tradition for our family to go early in October. We arrive first thing in the morning and pick out our wagon for collecting pumpkins. Then we head over to the snack area and grab treats for ourselves and some snack cups to feed the animals. Our favorite treats are the corn nuts and sweet almonds! Then we head across the bridge to go feed the animals. They have sheeps and goats that you can give pellets too. On property they also have cows which are fun to see. Once we are done feeding the animals we head over to the pumpkin fields to pick out our big pumpkins. They also have a smaller pumpkin area where you can pick out smaller pumpkins, corn, wheat and gourds. They have a lot of kid friendly activities too! It's a place for all ages! Once we have finished picking out our goodies we go to check out and get some more snacks for the road. The staff is all very friendly and they have great pricing. Towards the end of the season they do get a low supply on pumpkins and snacks since they are made fresh for the season. I highly recommend going early! We LOVE Joan's Pumpkin Patch and can't wait to go again this year with our baby boy! read more

We were sad to find out local Pumpkin Patch at Ardenwood is closed for good because the farmer passed away. Joans was within a 30 minute drive and is one of the few places open this year for Pumpkins. Drive very slowly into the parking lot when entering and exiting, it is unpaved and 2 way traffic, you don't want to be kicking up rocks at other peoples car. On the left side of the parking lots will be a row of wheel barrows if you are buying a bunch of pumpkins and don't want to carry them around We arrived a couple minutes after opening and it was pretty crowded already so either come very early or close to closing if you want to avoid crowds. Everyone was wearing masks but there were so many people it's not always possible to socially distance. Free stuff for kids was animals like cows and donkeys you could see, a wood maze, and of course the pumpkin patch, there are also plenty of cool decorations for different picture opportunities. If you pay $10 near the back the kids can do a blow-up corn maze, tractor pull, and small pumpkin bowling. There is food/snacks onsite at the stall in the middle and a row of porta potties. We are rating it 4 stars since the actual pumpkin selection wasn't as large as some of the other places we've gone too and it was so busy it felt pretty chaotic at times. Great pumpkin patch for the children and parents and it's Free! Joan's is such a lovely patch hiding in Livermore alongside the long roads, and behind the grape fields hides Joan's Farm and Pumpkin Patch. It was such a beautiful ride with gorgeous scenery upon arrival. There were plenty of signs for parking. It was kind of tricky with the other farms leading to the same location. However, Joan's had plenty of signs posted letting you know that you are getting closer to their parking lot exactly. Once inside a long bumpy instructed road with signals pointing towards the parking led the way. There is no specific parking spot, just a big open field to park as you please. Also available was plenty of wheel barrels and wagons for families to lug their pumpkins after purchase to the cars. That was really convenient. As for the Patch it was beautiful. There was plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy like a maze, farm animals to feed, pumpkin games and harvesting, jumpers and other various activities. Plenty of cut-out pic paintings for family pictures and such were located everywhere. All varieties of pumpkins to choose from surrounded the pumpkin patch, and a snack shack bar with variety of eateries and snacks to buy. Joan's farm is cash only however they did have an ATM located inside. Very nice Activity for the family to do in the month of October. They mentioned that they will open all month the last day being October 31st. Their closing time daily is at 6pm. read more

Love coming here with our friends who also have kids! So much fun for our toddlers!! Plenty of parking - it gets really dusty to prepare for a car wash afterwards. My 3yo son loves climbing and coming down the inflatable slide, the real corn maze, and riding the tractor train around. He also loved picking up pumpkins and running around all the displays. So many places to take pictures. Unlimited rides is $25 for a wristband and $20 for four rides. I bought four rides and that was sufficient for my 3yo toddler boy, but next time, I'll probably get unlimited because it's only $5 more. Also, the people at the rides let the kids go three times for one ticket. My only complaint are the mannequins on display. A lot of the faces are gone or hands missing, or baby mannequins looking like Sid's broken up toys from "Toy Story." The creepy mannequins on display definitely gave me lots of Jeffrey Dahmer vibes, but it makes sense that they're all pretty run down after using the same ones all these years. Other than that, there's so much to do - the rides, the little area to get on fake animals, the patch, the fake town, feed the donkeys, view the cows and calf, the places to take pictures (the height board is fun to see your kids grow each year, the petting zoo, etc. My toddler boy did not like the inflatable corn maze because it didn't have an exit, so he found that frustrating. He really loved the corn maze and the maze next to the donkeys. It'll be dusty like any farm, so be sure to wear your cowboy boots or kids rain boots to protect their little feet from all the mud, dirt, and rocks (no crocs or sandals!!). read more

This is a bit of a drive for me, but my family and I had fun the last time we went. My takeaways: -Should be larger signage indicating where to turn and park as you pull up. There are signs but they are not very big and it is easy to miss them. -I didn't see any signs indicating where you can buy food to feed the animals. Maybe I missed it. I know the class trips that were there were furnished w/feed when they arrived (as you're asked at the front if you're with one of the schools), but if you're not--not sure where you get the food. -The snack bar was not serving any hot food (nachos, hot dogs, etc, as advertised on their website) when I went last Tuesday. Only serving pumpkin pie and chips. I was planning to eat lunch there; not sure if their website or social media (or signage at the entrance) advertised no hot food. Would have been nice to know that in advance. -The train they have at the top of the field is only for kids. The little train cars are too small for adults, so make sure your kid is ready to ride alone. I saw a mom ride in the front of the tractor with her child, but if your child is in one of the cars--definitely make sure they're ready to be alone, as my son wasn't and I had to pull him off. -Definitely go during the week, as I can imagine weekends are super packed. Came here wanting to find a closer place to my boyfriend's house in Pleasanton. Was planning on going to the famous Uesugi Farms in Morgan Hill, but too far of a drive. The road up to the actual pumpkin patch was definitely a bit bumpy and parking was just a huge dirt lot. Don't bring your nice cars here or wear your white shoes!! We went around 4:30pm on a Sunday and there was no fee (not sure why because I read on the other reviews there was a fee). Porta potties are available but the water for the hand washing station was weak HAHA. Lots of fun picture taking spots and activities for kids! I would say this was a lot more eventful than just a typical pumpkin patch! Not too crowded so good for pictures!!!!! Prices depending on size and are reasonable! Love this little farm!!! We drive 20 minutes to go to this pumpkin patch because there's so much to do here! On the weekends I guess they charge $2 to get in per person. On the weekday we didn't pay anything to enter the patch. There's lots to do. We walked around and looked at all of the historical pieces, checked out the pumpkin patches and played in the dirt. We did end up buying the kids wrist bands but could have gotten away with just buying individual tickets. The bands include the 2 bouncy mazes, a bouncy slide, a bouncy obstacle thing, a train ride and a hay ride which wasn't going when we went. Oh and panning for gems. My kids are 8 and 3 and did each thing once. The snack shack has great snow cones for a very reasonable price. Lots of people having their food and snacks.
