JNL went completely MIA on us. Left our remodel project stalled for weeks while we were down to one bathroom and our home was a construction site. We called them every day for three weeks with no response. We were about to threaten legal action because they had our stone and they just wouldn't answer or return our calls. We were getting desperate. When they finally returned our call and finished the installation, the quality was crap. No communication, no transparency when serious mistakes were made. DO NOT USE JNL MARBLE. JOEL HUERTA DOES NOT STAND BEHIND HIS WORK!!! The quartz countertop he installed in our kitchen CRACKED. We scheduled 2 appointments with Joel for him to come out and fix the problem and he BLEW US OFF both times without so much as a phone call or a text to say he wasn't coming. Joel is unresponsive to emails, text messages and phone calls. The supplier even spoke with him three times and each time he lied right to them saying he would call us right after he got off the phone. He never called. JNL Marble & Granite did a BEAUTIFUL job installing our kitchen and half bath quartzite countertops and tile backsplash. We were referred to JNL marble from All Natural Stone (in Dublin) where we purchased our countertops and backsplash. Every employee we worked with was friendly, nice and respectful. Morgan is organized and easy to communicate with. Joel came out to measure and make the templates and he was fabulous. I was given a date/time that worked well for us and the quote was within our ballpark idea of what it would cost us for installation. The team who installed the countertops worked so hard and efficiently, the tile installers did a perfect install. Our only hiccups were super minor- but they were handled in an efficient no-drama way! We had a couple late arrivals, but I simply called Morgan to find out what was going on, she got back to me right away and gave me their ETA. There was a minor miscommunication about where our tile was, the tile installers got to our house and asked where the tile was, but I thought they had it. Morgan quickly resolved the situation by bringing the tile to our house herself. I highly recommend JNL. read more

If you want professional service and product, do NOT use JNL. This company was recommended by our interior designer and all-natural stone where we bought our quartzite. I was stood up 3 times for appointments. And after they finally got the template for our second bathroom disappeared entirely. I called and emailed every single day asking for an install date so I could schedule our contractors. No response. We needed the tub deck quartz installed before we could do anything else so our bathroom ended up sitting stalled for 3 whole weeks! They had the rest of our slab so what could I do? Finally the secretary called me back and scheduled the install. I assumed they'd show up in the morning. After waiting all day they finally came around noon, and surprise surprise couldn't finish that day. The install guy was nice and just as surprised as I was to find this strange hideous scar in the beautiful slab I picked out. Right on the top of the tub deck. Definitely was not there before. It looks like they made a wrong cut and tried to cover it up. No explanation . Just sent it out like that. So so so disappointed. Also the grains on the top and sides are off by just 2 inches. read more

My situation is comparable to Tom R.'s. How do you write a review about a contractor like JNL's owner, Joel Huerta, when you have to juxtapose superlative initial results with an incomplete and inadequate termination of a project, followed by a total refusal to respond to calls, emails etc? I regret that I have to give Joel the lowest rating for that reason (explanation below), and it is such a shame that the unfinished project mars such an otherwise promising service-provider. First the positive: During the initial stages of the project, Joel was generally available. Although (even then) it could take a week (or more) to get calls returned, nevertheless when Joel did deal with you, he was 100% present, and he was genuinely concerned about making sure he fulfilled exactly what I asked. During the course of the project, he went to considerable lengths to implement modifications and requests made to address unique aspects of the job. He never complained, and always did his best to fulfill my requests. The quality of the work during initial stages of the project was excellent. Now for the bad parts: Towards the end of the project, it became increasingly difficult to schedule workmen to come onsite and finish the project, and when they did come, the work was rushed, and a bit questionable. For instance, the slate tile on the walls required a finishing varnish, but instead of using a brush, or roller or a rag, Joel's employee used toilet paper and paper towels to dab the varnish on the walls. this resulted in little pilled bits of paper embedded in the varnish all over the wall which we have had to rub out with a scrubby. This was very odd, because other earlier aspects of project implementation were exceptionally well done. At the end of the project, one critical reinstallation was needed: The placement of a handle near the door of the shower, to help users get in/out of the shower/tub. This seems fairly minor, but I have a bad back, and very much needed the handle in order to safely use the facility. Despite the fact the placement of the handle remained undone, Joel asked to be paid in full for the job. I trusted him, and gave him his final check, with his promise that he'd come back in "a couple of days" to install that handle. After not responding to my calls for over two weeks, he suddenly called one last time to report he could not find the screws needed for the installation. He came by one last time so I could give him the handle to facilitate his search for the screws. That was January. He then disappeared and has not responded to numerous calls. My last call to him a few weeks ago essentially asked him, if he has lost interest in finishing the job, to please return the handle, as it would be expensive for me to replace. My call never got returned (and neither has the handle), and I have had to order a new handle (not cheap). I continue to use the shower/bathtub with difficulty due to my bad back and the lack of a handle to help me in/out. It may seem minor, but it really affects the utility of the finished project. I don't know what to make of this situation. I hate giving a one-star review, but under the circumstances, without additional information, an unfinished job, and a failure to return any phone calls, is not excusable. read more

JNL was recommended to me by Porcelanosa as an installer for the very thin, sheet porcelain that they sell called X-Light. It is a somewhat tricky product because it is so big (118" tall x 39" wide) and so thin (only 3mm thick) and they recommend only using companies trained on the installation. Joel gave me a very reasonable quote and completely delivered the results we needed. He had to come out and template 4 walls, working around faucets and other fixtures. He cut the sheets in his workshop and then installed them onsite, making adjustments as he went. Great work and Joel and his guys were a pleasure to work with. read more

DO NOT USE JNL MARBLE. Don't let Joel fool you... After he got the job he was dishonest and took our money unlawfully. Very poor craftsmanship, no shows, doesn't return calls/text/e-mails, doesn't answer questions, requested and took more money than California law allows and hasn't completed an amount of work that equals it. There has been no effort to refund. I wonder how many deposits he has without completing the work. The craftsmanship is awful. I had several qualified tile installers come by to see if they could finish the job. None of them will continue working with the conditions that were left behind. We need to remove everything and start over. Initially Joel told us that all of our tile was in when it wasn't. Seems like he was just looking for work for his guys. When I confronted him he said that the tile store told him a tiny piece was missing. That tiny piece was our entire shower. Since we didn't have the shower tile he had his worker install the floor tile. The floor tile should be done last to avoid damaging, but they didn't even finish the shower pan cement before installing the floor. They didn't even do a dry layout of the floor to confirm installation with me and I don't like it. They also forgot to frame and cut the niches, there is drywall without support behind it (the wall bends) and openings in the drywall where water can leak through, the waterproofing is faulty, and tons of debris including nails were left in the unfinished shower pan. This could easily puncture the seal. His worker no showed and left his belongings. He left his tile saw, tools, debris, open bags of cement before the rain, tarp on our floor, it was a mess. Then Joel himself no showed on a separate day. No communication, no response, no apology. When his worker finally came to pick up his belongings he left a bunch of debris. I mentioned this to Joel and he said he would have his worker pick up the debris. He no showed again and we still have their debris on out property. Joel would ignore my emails and texts. One time he said I saw your email. I asked if he read it and he said no. We also have 6 sheets of tile missing from a box of tile that wasn't installed. I asked Joel about it and there was no response. read more

Needed a counter top for built in cabinets in dining room. Fortunately, they had a remnant section of granite which would fit the area. Agreed to a fair price for job, met both appointments on time and did an excellent installation. Used tarps to protect carpets and cleaned up before they left. Definitely recommend them, especially since they have nice supply of leftover granite which allows them to provide very competitive pricing. read more

Joel Huerta, owner of JNL Marble and Granite, agreed to re-face a brick fireplace with marble tile. We signed a contract and set a date for work to begin. As the date approached, my attempts to reach Joel via email and phone were unsuccessful. He did not respond to any of my messages. On the start date he did not show up and would not answer my calls. I called his office and was told that my message would be relayed to Joel. I was also given the cell phone number that he was using that day but he did not answer my call. Two hours later when I again called Joel's office the same person told me he had spoken with Joel and that Joel had been at Home Depot at the time. He said he told Joel I was eager to speak with him about the job. I did not hear from Joel and additional calls and emails went unanswered. The following day I sent Joel another email telling him I found his behavior extremely unprofessional and would not need his services. An hour later Joel finally responded with an excuse that made no sense given the information I have received from his office the previous day. read more

Joel came thru with our kitchen granite fabrication about 5 months ago. No complaints great work and he was paid in full for the kitchen job upon installation. Joel offered to keep the extra granite for us at his shop (at the time we thought how nice), as we advised him we had two bath rooms we planned to use it for in the not so far future. Now we are at that point in time to have our fully PAID granite ( fabrication not paid yet) fabricated for the bath. The tiles and colors chosen all worked around this stored granite, which takes time and effort to put into place. We just hope we don't have to start from scratch on the granite.To this date and many efforts to contact Joel (even the building contractor who referred Joel to us is not getting any where either) we have not heard not one word from him or his company! We are truly concerned. I hope this will get resolved very soon so we can give him the 5 star rating that his past work deserves. If you don't want our job, give us our granite back so that we can all go forward. read more
