A new Asian supermarket to replace the Walbaums that was here before. They are currently going through their soft opening before their grand opening later this month. I do have to say I love how well the company did with the construction of the supermarket and parking. The supermarket itself is airy and bright, pretty much how large Asian supermarkets all look. The parking lot with the entrances / tolls was smart to do. Sadly, you won't be able to use the parking lot as an intersection from one block or the other- you'll have to enter from either left or right side entrance and exit from only one side. What is a bit disappointing about J-mart is that their price are higher than the nearby Asian supermarkets, which is a negative in my book. However the more egregious offender is that I do not exactly find great variety in this Asian supermarket than other ones. Sure, they have more room for items, but not something I wouldn't find elsewhere. There are a few demo areas to try thins, but it is very few and far between, only about 3 demos of items usually limited to aloe drinks. For those who do not usually frequent Asian supermarkets, you'll find this J-mart to be nice, clean with a lot of items. For those who go into supermarkets more often, you'll find while their meat and veggies may be a little cheaper than other places, their other items are marked up. read more

Oh my god - this market is beautiful and clean. This is the market the neighborhood was waiting for. Not only is it huge, with a large parking lot, but it also offers a huge selection of pretty much everything. The make of a good market pretty much comes down to wide aisles, selection, and cleanliness. J Mart has all of the three in spades! There are like three aisles dedicated to Asian junk food, which drew me in right away. Then there's a whole side of the market for the butcher section that includes meat and fish. Half the market is dedicated to veggies and fruit. Guess I know where I'll be going for meats and produce from now on! read more

I find it so frustrating shopping at the J Mart in Bensonhurst, if you have a question & only speak English you're out of luck! The workers are rude when I ask a question, I get a "don't speak English" or a grunt or groan & some just walk away! The store should provide someone who speaks English, I may not be Asian but my money is just a green as everyone else's! read more

This supermarket is absolutely a delight to the neighborhood. I only wish my neighborhood had it. Wide assorted groceries from South Korea, Japanese, Chinese, Singaporean, Malaysian, they got it!!! Yea, chips, candy, raw ingredients, fresh fish and meat, fruits! read more

When I heard that JMart was to be opened here, I was pretty excited. Even though i live near multiple Asian supermarkets, I wanted to visit here. The place is spacious and clean but it gets super crowded on the weekends (Friday to Sunday) since the best deals take place on these days. Many items to choose from, which is great. Prices are reasonable but I can find some items at a slightly cheaper price than here. But I will definitely visit here again. read more

It has a good selection of fish, meat, and miscellaneous items. Although they have nice selection of treats and goodies, the stuff tends to be more expensive than the usual price at nearby grocery stores like Mong Kok supermarket or Green food supermarket. The conditions tend to be better than the ones opened before it, to be honest it smells and lots of flies fly around the produce. Speaking of the smell and unsanitary conditions, there is this place that you have to pass by that stinks. That place is HK Poultry. When I go for a quick trip to Jmart, the poultry place is almost like a gate or guardian that you have to pass by to reach Jmart. read more

I visited this store tonight the employees are rude. I am injured and wearing a cam boot. I asked 3 different employees for help. 2 sent me to someone else and finally the third super rude employee told me he was not going to help me find the item I needed. read more

- Current coconuts selling there are not good (red color label) the green labeled ones were better. - Always check your receipt. Found out quite a few times that they charge you extra but i was already home by then. another time when i confronted them after seeing they charged extra at the spot, they make up some excuse. -Forgot to add, their melons -- Skip !!! They either don't have any taste or they're pure SUGAR. Like OVERLY sweet. Every bite is diabetes. read more

Wow just came to this new supermarket and it's amazing. 2 full sections dedicated to dumplings and wontons. #iamafatass felt like a kid in a candy store. The ramen and soup omg has a huge selection a whole isle dedicated to it. Took me about an hour to look at most of it. Large fresh live seafood as well as fresh dead seafood. I don't really like food shopping but had a good time in here. read more

I usually come here to get my groceries and it's over crowded during the day but it's more peaceful later in the day. They have a good variety of produce, meats, fish, etc. I had no complaints about this place prior to today where cashier #1 had an extremely incompetent lady working today, when I visited around 6PM. I bought only one piece of salmon, priced at 11.18 and she charged me for 2 salmons (11.18 x 2). Luckily I checked the receipt prior to leaving the parking lot and my bf and I went back in within 3 minutes of exiting. There was a nice guy who was assisting with bagging the groceries and he was completely understanding. However this lady, I don't know what her issue was, she was adamant about the fact that I had TWO salmons. It doesn't even make sense because the salmons cost 7.99/pound and even if I did purchase two salmons, they wouldn't be the exact same price. Or if I really did purchase two salmons, they would have been given to me in one bag with just one ticketed price. So what ended up happening was the nicer guy had to come out and literally check our trunk to verify that we only had ONE salmon... and after he confirmed it, he went back in w/ my boyfriend to get a refund. At that point I was so frustrated that I couldn't bring myself to walk back in to deal with her and I stayed outside. As per my boyfriend she appeared pissed off and gave a lot of attitude even when she found out she was wrong. No apologies no nothing. She even cursed in Mandarin. This is a good place, however the staff can either make or break your store. read more

I always trust my gut instincts when shopping at supermarkets owned by unscupulous owners whose only concern is making a quick buck at the expense of unknowing consumers and this market is no exception. The fish counter and most notably the selection of cut salmon. They are not fanned out so you can see the flesh of the fish instead all you see is the cut top of the skin. Oh and they frown on you touching it to see what it is that you are buying and most importantly ingesting. Do they expect you to buy a piece of fish without knowing what it is that you are paying good money for. What are you hiding?? I can understand if it was on sale and on this day it was not. This is a common practice in these type of markets. Buyers beware and go purchase your seafood at a more reputable store. Your gut will thank you for it later. read more

I went to a few small Chinese supermarket and I couldn't find what I wanted. They have lots of varieties of snacks. They might be a little more expensive than other store, but they have sale on different stuff weekly. I always find something to buy. read more

I was there only once and liked it alot. I do have a question -- is parking free? I drove in past a "toll booth" and no one stopped me but when leaving, the guy (who seemed not to speak English) held out his hand to ...apparently...take a ticket from me. I asked him if I needed to pay and he didn't know what I was talking about and he just waved me on.... read more

Very nice supermarket with nice fresh vegetables, meat and groceries. The size was similar to the markets like Fei Long market in 8 ave. There are many things available like snacks, frozen pizzas, mini burgers and so on. What's suprising is that there is popin cookin available, which is hard to find in most markets here(except online). read more

Sorry for the three stars. My opinion is like not all the product written english. The food fruit, beverage and dairy product are expensive. I can understand why because there is too much competitor nearby. The guy standing there forcing people to get ticket just dumb. Sorry for the language. Why does bike need to pay for parking. It doesn't have a license plate. I whether park outside or nearby. read more

I went here when they first opened and the items were fresh and price were normal compared to other chinese supermarkets in the area. But later the price were higher and the produces were not as fresh as other supermarkets. Today was raining so I decided to go here again because of the ease of the parking and got some stuff for hot pot. I was unhappy that the beef were packaged nicely on the outside but the inside were all fats. The too layer were the nice thin slices but after the top layer all others were mostly fat. I had to cut all the fat out! Very disappointed on how they cheat their customer on these fatty beef. I will not be coming here to get rip off. read more

Big gigantic asian supermarket with parking! I usually come here on weekends but found that weekday nights are so much better. Less people meaning more room and space to look around. I love their big selection of veggies and meats! read more

Was looking for a Japanese grocery store. This isn't one. It's a fine Asian supermarket, much like the other Chinese-run ones in western Brooklyn, especially Sunset Park, with a wide range of products. But, no self-respecting Japanese grocer would fail to carry natto, and there's none here. But, we stocked up on some other necessities, Kim chi, tofu, Shanghai Choi, brown eggs, crab sticks, etc. We went on a Sunday, and it was packed, business booming, the parking lot congested, and foot traffic in the store busy. Lots of registers open, so check-out was easy. We had our parking receipt validated, but the exit booth wasn't checking, or even manned. Maybe they don't check on Sundays. read more

Location is convenient for parking. There are many categories of products in the supermarket, and there are foods from many countries. It's just that the attitude of the service staff who sell meat and vegetables is sometimes not good. read more

This store targets the Asian community. Anyone else won't find much that would be of interest here. The produce selection is strictly conventional and prices are similar to anywhere else in the neighborhood. If there were organic produce options, I didn't see them. Organic milk brands were $4.99 for half gallon cartons, which is acceptable. Organic eggs were expensive. Overwhelming smell of live fish and other sea creatures covers the entire store. read more

Wow, rarely have I seen a market market as big and as clean as this one in Brooklyn (let alone an Asian market) When you walk in you see the many rows of stuff this place sells. I quickly dubbed it the "Asian Whole Foods" even though it the two markets don't sell anything really identical. You can basically find almost anything you need in this. They sell your usual fish and seafood on one side of the place and it has the distinguishable smell associated with it. There's an impressive array of fried noodles, enough to satisfy any fire noodle challenge you may want to do. It also sells some of the variety of Kit Kats that you would find in Japan, unlike other places where they may just sell the Matcha version. They also have a huge assortment of Asian drinks and snacks. This place is a must visit if you like shopping at Asian markets. read more

This supermarket used to be waldbaums, which is where I frequented as a kid when I lived in the neighborhood. This jmart is huge and they make good use of every space available. The parking lot is always jam packed and market is super busy. The prices are decent, not any less expensive than nearby competitors. Only thing they do different is the raffle they are promoting if you spend at least $50. It's just a scheme for people to buy more things but it works. read more

Majority of the food here u can find in any Chinese supermarket. They have some items that are cheaper than H-Mart which is always good because H-Mart is so pricey when you can get the same food for a cheaper price. read more

Short drive away from home, so it already made a great impression on me. I've been dying to go to the one in Queens, but that's a far trek for me, so I was pleased to hear about this one. The store isn't huge but has a huge parking lot. I feel like they should either expand the store or make it into two stories for the amount of space they have for cars. They had a ton of options for Asian groceries. My parents ended up buying some bowls for our kitchen and I stocked up on snacks, ramen, calpico, ramune, and an assortment of dumplings. Will definitely be back soon to restock! read more

Always operating in very poor conditions. Fruits are never fresh and I even see roaches crawling around. The cashiers speak broken English and are very rude. I will never risk buying edible items from there. Besides, their prices are usually higher than those of the nearby groceries as well. read more

Great selection of Asian food and fresh produce, with many authentic seasonings and spices at great price. Many grains (eg long and short grain rice) are available for your next temaki Sushi feast, or a mound of fried rice for your next get-together. Hygiene might be an issue for some product categories... 11/12/2017 update: I hope this was an isolated incident. I shopped at this place at around 7:30pm on 11/11/2017. Two Latino (or of Caucasus origins?) males quietly appeared from behind, and kicked a ball towards my feet. Too dark to see the ball, I stepped on it and ended up hitting my right knee hard on the concrete pavement. I was paralyzed for half a minute due to excessive pain, but the males stood there uttering "are you okay? I didn't see you there..." while laughing. It was too dark to see the small soccer ball, but could easily see pedestrians a few feet away. The reason why they had to kick the ball towards me quietly - from behind - is unknown. Be careful when you walk on New Utrecht to the 18 Ave station. I did not break my leg, only a pain on the tibia near the knee joint (which still lingers almost two months after). It could have been worse. Seeing such potentially ill-intentioned behavior - in 2017 and in seemingly peaceful Bath Beach - Bensonhurst area - is rather sad. I thought diversity was a treasure. read more

I bought a two pound bag of mussels and half a pound of clams. The smell in the store was so bad that I didn't realize the shellfish were horrible. I can't believe how often i come here for all my food supplies, probably too much but I love it. Everything is nicely laid out, organized, easy to find and mostly CLEAN! No wet floors to tip toe around, and spacious isles. Groceries are fresh and have all kind of variety so no shop hopping around. It's all conveniently in one store! Love the fruit isle!! Bring a jacket with you because the freezer are so cooled I find myself shivering sometimes. There is a bathroom upstairs for emergency and quite dirty hence the 1 star off. read more

I had been wanting to go here for ages and I finally did. Now I got at least once a week when I can. I go later in the day so its not as crowded. I grab a little plastic red rolling cart out front. You can slide the black handle down to it turns into a basket. No funny smells unless you get close to certain fish sections. There are always guys restocking so you have to move around them. They have lots of candy, chips and noodles. Lots of neat snacks to try and they tend to be real cheap. They have some american food too....American chip brands and some american canned foods etc. They also have the largest selection of Japanese sodas...the kinda with the marble inside the bottle. The lines are never too long. About ten lines are always open. There is a computer screen that shows your total in case you only speak english. The other customers are nice. I've never run into anyone that was rude. I love this place! read more

Probably the best asian supermarket in Brooklyn due to their variety and freshness. They have harder to find items such as fresh kelp.

There is something about supermarkets that I adore and this one is no exception. Everything is clean and there is a great variety.
