I spoke to Jonas on the phone regarding a repair for a small stucco damage caused by a delivery. He said that they had a $500 minimum and that he expected me to pay everything up front before having an estimate written to submit to the insurance company. This is ridiculous because any professional will write up an estimate before any services are done, but he said that, "it is not worth his time to write up an estimate for such a small repair." I hired JM plastering to change the stucco color of my house (single story house). They took about a week to complete work, and the job came out great for a fair price too. My consultation was over the phone with an unknown male. Im obviously NOT a pro and or have i ever needed this type of service before and so i have no idea on methods/procedures/equipment/material/measuring/pricing etc. He used my Sq footage to give me an estimate since they've "done many walk thrus" they have an idea on the estimates" When I asked about picking the colors for the stucco he mentioned 3 brands (which I've already forgotten) that are normally used and when I get "other bids" I'll see those colors. As to the stone veneer estimate... "that'll be very expensive. If you can give me a Sq footage of how much you want done I can estimate a price". Now I'm sure it's time consuming and costly visiting potential homes/customers but for me first impression and explanation of the job is important. I totally understand that this Co may have done" many walk thrus" and or has been in business for so many years BUT this is MY first time and in no way was any trust, confidence or assurance built through this phone consultation. read more
