This is my second time using JM Kitchen & Bath Design. My first project was a complete makeover of my master bathroom. The vanity and mirror they custom ordered for me was exactly what I had in mind. I was so thrilled with the design and installation that I had them replace all the cabinets in my kitchen in December. We went with Omega cabinets and it turned out much better than i expected. Our kitchen had a couple of odd angles in it and they were able to mask those with the cabinets by building them around the corner. I would have never thought about this on my own. We used JM Kitchen & Bath Design for a recent remodel of our kitchen/dining room area. Overall a good experience with their designer. She knew her stuff and definitely designed a well thought through kitchen blueprint. JM worked closely with our contractor to make sure the measurements were correct and our designer had a good idea of what designs/colors would work well with our desired outcome. I did feel however that there was a shortfall with getting our designer's attention/site visits on a regular basis. Even though the contractor that we hired that JM partnered with for the project was the main company to oversee the project, I had expected our designer from JM to follow-up with us more often. And at the end of the project, we had to ask the designer to come over to see if everything looked as it should be/any discrepancies we didn't see. I was disappointed in that. Also, we had to give JM the final percentage payment when we were still going through some final changes/questions with our cabinets. I didn't understand why we should have to pay that full last payment if we were not yet fully whole with our contract. Overall, though, our kitchen looks awesome and our designer had alot of experience and knowledge. read more

I have been in turmoil over the last several months of remodeling. Most every aspect of my construction has been done at least twice. Poor workmanship, lack of follow through, promises not kept, and the never ending ignored phone calls, texts and emails. There has been one bright light throughout this entire experience: JM Kitchen and Bath. (more specifically, Juli Dunlap) From our initial phone call followed very quickly by our meeting at my house, I was comforted by the woman I now call "Juli, full of grace". She spent hours at that first meeting asking questions about how each space was to be used, my lifestyle, my time-line, my budget. Questions I hadn't asked myself, but were critical for my complete satisfaction with design and function. As far as budget went, I was very vague. When, a very short time later, Juli presented her first proposals and beautiful drawings, I was surprised by the details in the plans that she captured based on our initial meeting. I was in love with everything. Except the cost. And I wanted to give up nothing, as every detail was so special. Nonetheless, Juli went back to the drawing board and came up with magic! I barely noticed the differences. My kitchen and bathrooms were installed last week. I am thrilled. Additional kudos for Juli's partners Joel and their installer,Kris. If you're still reading this tome, I would like to mention all of the support and wisdom that Juli shared with me throughout the demolition and reconstruction of my home...and not just my kitchen, baths and fireplaces. Her eye for design, her contacts, her hand-holding, her empathy...all treasured, and never to be forgotten. Words are difficult to find for this 64 year old woman who wishes to express my infinite love and gratitude to Juli and JM Kitchen and Bath. You would be wise to trust them fully with your home. I've thought about writing this review for quite awhile now, hoping to have a redeeming experience that would allow me to increase my opinion of this business. Unfortunately, that has not happened, at all. We used JM for our kitchen remodel a few years back... our designer Deanna Dunbar was AMAZING and we had a fantastic experience. When it came time to remodel our bathrooms, we didn't even shop around - just went with JM since we had such a great experience with Deanna. Unfortunately, this second time around, Deanna had gone on to greener pastures and we were assigned a different designer. Not a big deal, as I was sure the quality of our experience would be on the same level. Unfortunately, I could honestly write the better part of a novel about our negative experiences with these bathroom remodels, but I'll try to focus on the key points: - After going through 2 designers (first was fired, second was "too busy"), our third and final designer was overall just shy of terrible. He is a very poor communicator, lacks attention to detail, responds minimally to requests/questions (i.e. if my email included 3 questions, he only ever answered 1), and lacks follow through with subcontractor work (I had to hound him repeatedly in order to make any progress). - 3 months after starting the project, we were STILL waiting on finishing touches - shower glass door took over a month to be installed, cabinet trim around washer/dryer was first improperly measured/installed so the washer/dryer didn't actually fit under the counter (!), then shoddily "fixed" using trim that was a different color from our cabinets (!), and then finally actually fixed (thanks to a suggestion from MY OWN construction contractor on how to make it look like it was not amateurly done) after waiting for new trim to be ordered and installed. - Several parts of the cabinetry were ordered incorrectly - one was 24" deep instead of the 12" that it should have been, another didn't fit through our door and had to be disassembled and then reassembled, a medicine cabinet was 24" wide instead of 18", and other pieces did not match the stain chosen. In short, installation day for the cabinets was a MESS and not productive - and ended up being a huge headache. - Conversations with the owner about our negative experiences resulted in improved communication... for about a day. Then reverted back to being awful. - Getting all my credits applied for various pieces of the project look several weeks, and then it more than an additional month to finally get my last invoice (after I called JM no less than 10 times trying to get it all wrapped up). I honestly could go on and on, but the end of the story is clear - I absolutely do not recommend this company. The cabinets are nice, but you can get them elsewhere from other designers, I'm sure. JM - I simply cannot be more disappointed in my 2nd experience with you. I expect more from a local business. For your own sake, please hire designers that have strong customer service and project management skills. My tip to those looking for design work - go with a designer you feel comfortable with, and trust your gut. I should have trusted mine and changed design firms, and I still regret it. read more

Our kitchen remodel is brilliant! Mike Thulson at the Castle Rock location is a true professional. He did everything right--he respected our budget, he assisted personally in selections, he offered ideas and suggestions but always honored our vision. He project managed our remodel and was even instrumental in connecting us with an exemplary contractor. The most challenging experience with a designer, and company, for us so far. We have worked with many designers and contractors for remodels. Our experience with JM: timeline promises unmet with many delays (affecting all working parties), defective materials on many levels, incorrect orders by the designer, poor accountability, absent service recovery, challenges in repair and responsibility for mistakes on installation, minimal oversight on projects and subcontractors, and over time cabinets now peeling (company model to charge high prices and work with the cheapest supplier). We have had seamless, wonderful kitchen remodels in the past. Materials sustained for years. You can find better. Beware of upfront glitz with Julie and promises before you submit a deposit. Take home - absolutely we wish we had not contracted with JM. read more

This is first-hand consumer experience, from a consumer who was robbed by JM. I contracted JM Kitchen and Bath to remodel my kitchen. I gave very specific instruction and detail design, with many custom components and details. The file of this contract they made was over two inches thick, and priced accordingly. I paid them in advance, as they requested, since they had a "A" rating from the BBB. What finally showed up was in fact, little more than could have been purchased at Home Depot right off the shelves. All the cabinetry had been resized to enable them to used prefabricated pieces. Where I'd specifically ordered built-in components, they substituted cheap drop-in pieces that wasted space and lacked the quality I had paid for. I asked for a detail to be routed into the cabinet doors, with specific measurements of 3/16"w by 1/4" deep cuts. what i ended up with was burned-in less than a 16th of an inch wide and less than a sheet of paper's depth, giving a tacky, cheap appearance done by someone with a wood burning tool. I pointed out that due to the limited space available, the sink base needed to be a free standing pedestal for the 350 pound granite sink I had already purchased. What I received was not only structurally incapable of supporting the weight of the sink, they were going to have to cut it up on-sight in order for it to even fit the sink. Further, had I let them install it they way they wanted, the sink would have been six inches off center of the window, which I had specifically entered into the detail as an important feature. All the cabinets had been reduced in size and the spaces would have been filled with six or more inches of gaps and filler. They did this to enable the use of cheaper components, rather than the expensive custom pieces I ordered and paid for. When I complained the owner came to my home, and we talked. As I explained each problem, initially he agreed that it was wrong and should be replaced, but as we went through each and every item, the designer left, and the amount of rework became clear to him, he to left, and never returned. The trash they left behind is still sitting in my living room, waiting for them to come and get it. JM Kitchen and Bath are nothing but lairs and thieves, trying to pawn off prefabricated garbage as 'custom made'. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY THERE. read more

They do not stand behind their designers nor their product. When the cabinet's come in three different colors and spanning across an existing window they offer nothing but a bill to correct the issue. read more

JM did our kitchen in 2011. We love the design and attention to detail provided by our designer, Paul Priester. There was one glitch by the designer, where the cabinet above the microwave was too short. He ordered a new one, incurring a delay, but we understand these things happen. He worked with us and provided advice on the sink, faucet and lighting selections. We are still very happy with the functionality and quality of materials. Glad we went with JM! read more

Working with JM was much more stressful for us compared to other companies we've worked with. While they met minimum contractual obligations, they did not seem to prioritize customer communication and supplier management, and they blamed vendors that they selected for some problems in these areas. From demo/initial product arrival to final product arrival took 5 weeks due to many supply problems, including 2 cabinet areas measured incorrectly by JM and several other received products being incorrect. It was a contentious process to get any compensation for these issues. We wish we had used a different company. read more

We chose JM Kitchen & Bath because my wife and I didn't know where to start. They said they would design our kitchen for us and have custom cabinets built. We told them our budget and immediately it was out of line, but we figured ok, we trust that this would be fantastic quality, design and service. The design phase was great. Our designer was on point with communication and accommodating with my families schedule. They came and took measurements and brought a contractor they work with regularly. The contractor gave us a bad feeling right off the bat so we hired our own contractor. Shouldn't be an issue, correct. The cabinets were ordered and held for us until we were ready. That's where it goes wrong. As more problems would arise, the communication became slower to respond. The owner came out to discuss the issues. The owner tried to say he would work with us (which meant us paying half of the cost), great customer service when your company screwed up. They were missing an entire 36" cabinet and sent only the cabinet face. They had mis-measured another cabinet face by 1/2" on the bottom. Another corner cabinet on the design was supposed to be flush with the corner of the wall, but when showed up it was 3 inches past the corner and so the adjacent cabinet door could not be fully opened. They agreed to order another cabinet, which took another 5 weeks to be made because it was custom. In the meantime, we could not have our counters completely installed because we didn't have all of the cabinets. It arrived, and again it was measured incorrectly by the designer. She blamed it on us, saying that we signed off on the design so it was our fault...that's why we are paying them to measure, design and build cabinets to their specifications. They took back the cabinet, instead of having another one built (because it would cost them more money) they have the back shaved down to the measurement. Again, delivered the cabinet and it was still not correct size and flush with the corner of the wall...I give up! Terrible customer service and would never recommend them to any of my friends or family. read more

Unfortunately, my first experience with this business was very poor. I drove 20 miles with the intention of having someone assist me with countertop choices and new appliances as your website indicated you offer design help. When the salesperson realized I was not doing a high end kitchen she handed me a peice of paper with the name of another store and said they could probably help me. I am extremely disappointed with your customer service and will be happy to take my business elsewhere! read more
