Both spaces desperately needed upgrades, and after researching local contractors and gathering several bids, A2Z Builders stood out with a reasonable estimate that fit my budget. I chose them because I wanted Architectural Digest-level design and craftsmanship -- and they delivered. The basement stairs were in rough shape: worn carpet, damaged treads, scratched baseboards, cracked drywall, and poor lighting. I asked for something artistic to replace the eyesore, and they created a beautiful, striking transformation. For the master bathroom, I wanted heated tile floors instead of carpet, a refinished vanity, wallpaper removal, and repairs to water damaged drywall. The results are stunning. Every visitor who sees the remodeled bathroom and stairs responds with an enthusiastic WOW. The entire team was courteous, professional, and genuinely invested in bringing my vision to life. Understanding the circumstance, but also willing to wait for the right team, I responded and asked the business to let me know if that changed in the future, as we have several projects in our home and are hoping to bring the same team aboard for all of them. I then received the attached response offering a completely different explanation than before. Rather than acting with integrity, the business elected to tell a lie, as the project was likely not lucrative enough for them. I made no reference to my budget, but the business assumed I would not be interested in paying their prices. I would like to offer a two-star rating, though, as the communication was quite prompt.

I texted on May 23rd saying I had not heard from the technician. I never did hear from the technician, and no one came on the 25th. No follow-up from the company. On June 3rd I texted them again saying I had not heard from them, but we still wanted to do it. Rescheduled for Monday June 9th. On the preceding Friday they asked if we could move it to Tuesday the 10th. I said fine. On Tuesday morning they told me it would not work for them that day, and that they would knock $100 off the price in consideration of the repeated inconvenience and come on Wednesday, today, the 11th. Today, no show and no call. It is now 27 days after my original contact and this work has still not been done. I'm going to have to find someone else.

I had a unique issue that required a structural engineer evaluation, which was included in the bid. Lalo and Daner arrived as scheduled to do the crawl space and had to alter the original plan a bit. They completed the project in two days (original estimate was three) and everything was left clean. They were friendly, polite and seemed to genuinely care about making sure I was satisfied. After accepting the bid, I did have to reach out to Chase a couple of times when there delays in communication. He was able to get things moving quickly. If you choose to work with her, do not let her refer you to Hummingbird HRD (Crystal and Brian Mansanares), as that is where everything unraveled. Jaime first helped me after a Christmas morning plumbing disaster, and at the outset, she was fantastic--quick to respond, knowledgeable, and actively engaged in creating thoughtful layouts. Because things seemed to be going well, we also hired her for additional design work in our kitchen and living room. But when she referred us to Hummingbird as the general contractor, she stepped away entirely, leaving us in the hands of an inexperienced team that led to an overpriced, incomplete, and poorly executed renovation. Where Things Went Wrong Jaime and Crystal turned out to be personal friends rather than longtime collaborators, and our home was essentially a "guinea pig project"--a fact Jaime admitted only after things had gone terribly wrong. The staggering lack of professionalism from Hummingbird resulted in months of stress, wasted money, and a home that remains unfinished to this day. After Crystal declared the project "done" (despite glaringly poor workmanship), I asked Jaime to see the state of things herself. She agreed with me that the quality was unacceptable and even apologized for how badly things had turned out. She admitted that Crystal lacked the necessary experience and recognized that we had been unintentionally used as a test project. To make matters worse, she also told me, "Wow, I didn't realize you were so detail-oriented--I would feel exactly the same." As if they thought they could get away with subpar work and I wouldn't notice--truly insulting. Jaime's Final Disappointing Choice To her credit, Jaime convinced Crystal and Brian to attempt to fix their mess, but she ultimately abandoned the project. Despite personally acknowledging all the flaws, she later sent me a completely contradictory statement: "I have every faith in Hummingbird completing the project as promised, and overall, I believe they have done an exceptional job." This project was supposed to take 4-6 weeks starting in March--it was still dragging on in November, at which point I cut ties entirely because it was no longer worth the emotional toll. To this day, our home remains unfinished and cheap-looking, a painful reminder of the stress and financial loss we endured. What We Actually Got for Jaime's Fees After paying her design fees for both the bathroom and kitchen/living room, all we truly received was: * Layout options * A recommendation for Hummingbird (which proved disastrous) * Help selecting a kitchen table and rug Had we gone with a different general contractor, I might be writing a glowing five-star review. Unfortunately, given how this played out, I cannot recommend Jaime Langer at all.

There was brown liquid spilled on the cabinets and floors, paint spilled on the floors, stairs & countertops, outlet covers missing (still not found), painter's tape still stuck to the walls & baseboards, and sunflower seeds littered across EVERY single floor in the house (including the in the carpet and the bathtub). I am shocked at the way the house was left and how sloppy this was. This was not the condition that it was supposed to be left in. I had a showing the next morning so had to spend over 3 hours cleaning it. I contacted the manager about it and received a $275 discount. They did offer to come back over and "take care of these items" but I had no time to let them come back so I had to take care of it myself. For how much I paid to for this to be done I expected way more from this company. I will not be using this company again.
