Jerry, Jose, Hilario, and the rest of the crew did a great job. We have no complaints at all. Every little thing/concern we had was addressed by the crew. These guys are not happy, unless the customer is. We were a wee bit picky over a couple areas, but they happily catered to our requests. (Caused the project to go longer, as one of the changes was to have a couple cabinet doors changed). JLT is a fabricator, so everything is custom, unlike something you'd get from Home Depot. Ohhh..we even picked out our own Quartz slab from Marble Express. (Instead of just looking at samples) - I highly recommend doing this, although it's a bit overwhelming trying to decide. With any project, it is extremely important for the homeowner to stay involved with a remodel, as you will notice little details that the remodel guys may miss. Always good to have a second set of eyes! As such, we have no complaints at all. BTW- Our cabinets were a total pain in the ass, as the varnish on them was reacting with the paint. Martin fought through the debacle, overcoming the damn problem. Project Scope: New custom cabinet doors. (Easy Close) Refinished cabinets. New slide out drawers. (easy close). Farm house sink. Love the work Jerry and his team provided. I had custom, furniture-grade cabinets installed four years ago but picked too red of a stain. I decided it wanted to paint them white and contractors wouldn't touch the job. I wanted them done right and knew it would cost but didn't want a cheap paint job (I'm a great painter and have OCD so knew my limitations but also expectations). Doors were removed and taken away (this is the right way to do it), everything was taped off and sprayed with so many layers. I did have an issue with one area bleeding through (I called it "pink" as the red from the stain came through the paint) but this happened within a month and they came right back, reprinted & painted and it hasn't recurred. They also repainted my entertainment center/mantle as the carpenter I used painted with two different paints so the doors didn't match the background (told you I'm obsessive about details). It's perfect now! I absolutely recommend them. You can get a cheap job and get what you pay for but I don't plan to move and want the job done right. I would absolutely use them again! read more

We hired JLT Kitchen Refinishing to refinish our kitchen and dining room. They did a great job and we are very happy with the results. The kitchen cabinets were all original from 1968 with several coats of paint and a lot of wear and tear. Jerry's team repaired, refinished, and repainted all of the cabinets to look better than new. They removed all of the old cabinet doors and drawers, then they sanded and refinished all of the boxes and painted them inside and out with multiple coats of paint. After 15 years, our specially designed kitchen cabinets still had great structure but many of the door surfaces showed wear and needed refinishing. We tried several times to get the original cabinet maker to come out and estimate the cost to refinish the cabinets. They never followed up after several weeks of trying. We then went to several home care web sites to find vendors who refinished cabinets. After selecting 5 of the highly rated vendors, we contacted them to get quotes. Jerry at JLT Kitchen Refinishing was the first to call on the next day. He came to our house the next morning to evaluate our need. Quickly, we saw Jerry is a knowledgeable and experienced cabinet refinisher. He is straight forward and recommended multiple approaches. We told him we were not sure which approach was right for us. He said he would prepare 3 options on separate doors for us to see which we preferred. Two days after Jerry's visit, he provided 3 samples with different levels for us to make our decision. Also, we said if possible we would like the job done in 10 days the day before Thanksgiving. Jerry committed to 10 days. A second vendor returned our call 5 days later and the other 3 never responded. Jerry's staff was at our house the next morning to remove all the doors. I hired JLT Kitchen Refinishing to reface my kitchen and bathroom cabinets after receiving estimates from Reborn Cabinets, Home Depot, and Jerry of JLT. Jerry came out promtly and was very knowledgeable and friendly offering usefu suggestions. Not only was his bid lower than the other two, he used solid wood for the doors and drawer fronts as opposed to thermofoil. Also Home Depot stated they could not start the job for at least another 3 months. JLT completed my whole job in under 6 weeks. His crew was polite and punctual. I am so glad that I chose to work with Jerry on our kitchen refacing project. Jerry, Jose and his wife were absolutely fabulous. The project started on time and finished on time. The detail work and craftsmanship are top shelf. Our refacing job was not an easy one as we had to remove a lot of decorative trims, moldings and replace them with shaker style trims. Do not hire this man to handle anything you care about. He is long on promise and short on delivery. He is nothing but a middle-man and adds no value. In our case, his inaction and carelessness have caused us great delay, anxiety, and expense. Don't be led on by this man. He advertises heavily on the web using multiple websites to promote his solo business, claiming to handle everything from home design and remodeling to bathrooms and countertops to cabinet refinishing, We hired him to refinish our kitchen cabinets. When he arrived to provide an estimate, he seemed very knowledgeable and told us he would provide all the work we needed, including repainting of all our cabinets and replacement of some damaged drawer bottoms and drawer boxes. We agreed to what we now realize was a premium price for the work, but we were so impressed with his promises, we believed we were in competent hands. We were surprised when his crew arrived early one morning a few days later, without notice, to begin work dismantling and removing the cabinets for repair and repainting at their shop. We were not informed that they would be arriving, and Jerry was not with them. The workers said they had been instructed by Jerry to come to begin the work, but he had not informed us of this either by phone or text message. When I called his cell phone to find out why we had not been informed, there was no answer, and his voicemail box was full so I couldn't leave a message. I sent a text, but there was no immediate response. This should have been our first warning sign, but we accepted it as a minor communication error and looked forward to the excellent outcome we had been promised. The crew (of 2) that painted the cabinet frames in place in our kitchen were careful to cover our floors and appliances and seemed to do a good job, but the result was not the smooth lacquer surface we were promised, and we had to demand that they sand and finish the surfaces. Again, Jerry was nowhere to be found and never returned to the job site to supervise or consult with us on the delivered work. The process took much longer than we anticipated, mostly due to miscommunication between Jerry and his workers, We would tell Jerry something that the workers claim they were never told, or Jerry would give conflicting instructions to his crew without telling us. Throughout the process, we had agreed with Jerry that all work on the drawers and cabinet doors would be completed at their shop, and the only work on premises would be the installation of the completed refinished pieces. His workers returned on at least 2 separate occasions with materials that were not completed and had to be returned to the shop for corrections. Again, we never saw Jerry again after he sold us on the job, and his supervision of the work was effectively nil. Worse yet, when we could get him to answer his phone or respond to text messages, he would blame his workers rather than take responsibility for the problems. The final straw came when, after nearly 3 weeks of no follow-up about our installation, we demanded that Jerry get the cabinets installed. A new worker arrived the following day with the doors and drawers, but no repairs had been done. We called Jerry and demanded he come to the house to see the problem for himself. When he finally arrived, he said that the repairs would be done in-place, and not at the shop as we had agreed. Throughout the ordeal, Jerry had provided no supervision of the job, no consistent communication with us or his work crew, and nothing but empty promises. We fired Jerry and sacrificed our deposit rather than continuing with him, and had to arrange for a different company to do the work he could not complete. It was only after letting Jerry go that we discovered we were missing two cabinets that we had given to his crew for refinishing. These were two cabinets we had on the wall above our laundry that we had removed intact. When we reached out to him to have those cabinets returned, he informed us that his worker had disposed of them and that we had instructed him to do so! This is a blatant lie. Why would we give our cabinets to a refinishing professional with instructions to dispose of them? We can throw stuff away without professional assistance. Either Jerry is lying about the cabinets being trashed, or his mismanagement is even more unforgivable. So now we are missing two custom cabinets (I guess we can file a police report for theft?), we still have to pay someone else to refinish our cabinets (those that were returned), and Thanksgiving is passed and Christmas is coming, Thanks, Jerry! read more
