I had no idea it would be so tough to get a roofing company to come out and give an estimate, let alone follow-up and actually schedule the work. These companies seem to be very busy with complete roof jobs and have no time or interest in repairs. The common responses include: they are too busy, they are out six months, they never call back, or if you do get an estimate they never return. After weeks of calling roofing companies and getting one estimate (company never came back or called) I found JL Roofing Company. I spoke to the owner, and he said someone would call me back to setup an estimate. I received a call from JESEPI who responded the next day. Jesepi indicated they, too, were busy but promised to fit me in. The job would include repairing the leaking area, replacing all broken tiles (I had extra from a previous solar panel installation), and sealing all of the roof exhaust pipes. The price was $1,575. I said heck yes, I am in. A few days went by, and Jesepi and his crew arrived one early morning and started working. The flashing that needed to be removed was stuccoed by the home builder, which resulted in the paint and some stucco coming off. Not sure what the crappy home builder was thinking, but who knew? Anyway, Jesepi took the time to take a piece of the stucco to a paint store and matched the paint. He returned and painted the area, which was perfect. Jesepi and his crew did a great job for us, and our roof survived the most recent storms. I will definitely call them again for all of my roofing needs. TIP: On a side note, I had several broken tiles that Jesepi replaced. The only people on my roof before JL Roofing was Solar City about five years ago. If you decide to get solar, make sure you inspect your roof after the job is completed. read more

Our next door neighbor was having their roof done. We wanted a roof over our patio. I asked JB for an estimate. John came over, took some measurements, and said he would give me an estimate next week. Next week rolls around, nothing. I called a couple weeks later he said he will have it done in a week. Still do not hear anything. I call back. John seems annoyed that I keep calling, says you just need a "number" right, and will ty to get me something before he goes on vacation. For sure, no problem.??? So after about a week of getting other quotes I text back and told him ok. He ghosted me again. So I sent him a bridge burning text and he finally decided to call me. He sounded like he was in a stupor. He must have been because nobody would have called in their right mind. Of course I let him have it for wasting a month of unanswered emails and text messages. These guys are great! I live in Temecula, CA, a distance from Chino. They gave me a bid because they were in the neighborhood. I contacted them to fix the leaks in my roof after I got their bid. There bid was lower than the other roofer I had contacted. Within a couple of days after contacting them, they came out to fix the roof. A friend referred JL. John came out on time. I explained I was looking for a whole roof tear-down which consisted of 3 layers of roof from past owner and patio repair. Which was replacing post, ship lap & dry rot. John gave me an estimate he explained the material that was going to be used, the cost and my options. The owner John is very rude and unprofessional. I made an appointment and waited for them at home, one hour pass, no one showed up nor called/texted me. I called the owner, he said the driver went to the wrong house and he will be there an hour later. No apology, and I checked my address that I sent through text message, it is correct! The guy showed up an hour later and did the roof exam. I specifically told the owner that I have a deadline to meet cause I need to return the deposit to the other party, the roof exams report will determine whether I need to demand fees for fixing the roof. He told me the report will be given to me the next day. I waited whole day, nothing. Texted him like 5 ish, he said no one works in the weekend, you will have to wait on Monday, which is the deadline. On Monday, I waited until afternoon, still nothing, so I called. This time, he is very rude over the phone, he basically claim the office already sent it to me, I must gave him the wrong email address, he was driving and it's not a good time to talk, but he will ask the office send it again. Then he hung up on me. I checked my email that I texted him, again, no mistake! I waited another half an hour, checked my junk/spam folder, nothing, so I called him again, basically begged him to help me cause I must have it before 5. He said and I quote "you don't believe me when I said the office sent it to you?" 20 mins later, the document finally was emailed to me, and the email time does not lie!! If they want to proof they sent it earlier, they could just forward the old email. It was sent after I called him twice. After I read the report, I have questions so I texted him for clarification, never replied!! Absolutely terrible service and experience. DO NOT USE THEM!!! read more

I called them on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning John and his mustache were already knocking at my door. Before I even told him where the leaks were, he had already identified most of them. He gave me what I thought was a reasonable quote so I hired them. He told me he would like to get the repairs done before the next rains came on Wednesday so he would schedule them for Tuesday. The crew actually showed up on Monday and took care of everything. They were very professional and cordial, took care of all my problems before the next rains came. John was called to give an estimate on what I thought was a leaking roof. John spent almost two hours water testing the roof to locate the leak. He finally found the leak was happening around a window and not the roof. He told me to forget the roof repair for now and have the window fixed first. If the leak was still there to call him back. He refused to charge for his time. It was refreshing that he was honest enough to let me know the real problem when he could have easily sold me on a job not needed. If I have any roofing problems in the future, John will be my call. read more

RED ALERT.. WARNING ...WARNING... The experience I had with this company WAS NOT a good one, the owner John came out to my property when on the roof, stated has been in business for 30 years has seen this problem before. John told me the repairs that was needed and other items needed for maintenance of the roof, I gave the OK for all repair and other items. The repairs were done I paid the bill in FULL a few days later, water dripping and water entering the property. John came out when on the roof said his work was good his work was dry, I told him I still have the same problem, he did a water test found out were the water was coming from, said it will be raining soon, John said he will tarp the area and come back later and make the repair. Days later after the rain had stopped I called John to see when will he coming out and make the repairs, he said he has other jobs to do. He never gave me a date when he will return, after a few phone calls and texts, John called told me he did not like the way I was treating him, that he is trying to help me and not sure how much to charge me. I said charge me, you have been paid but my issues has not been resolved. Well the call ended will John saying he will not be returning to the property and will not be making any repairs. Here's the kicker, he gave me a TWO YEAR WARRANTY. That's how this company does business, take the money and RUN. SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARN. read more

When he finally agreed to send his guys out to perform the minor repairs, they never showed up! Lucky for us...we got a second opinion and reliable roofer. I can't say enough good things about these guys! I learned about this company from my neighbor who hired them to fix a leak. She was happy with them since they found the leak that three other contractors failed to locate so I got the number and made an appointment for an estimate. When I met with John, the owner, he was on time for our appointment and very pleasant. It took him about 20 minutes to take the measurments for my roof as I needed to do a full roof replacement. When he wrote up the estimate, he was very good at explaining exactly what each component was and the cost associated with those items. In terms of cost, he wasn't the cheapest, nor the most expensive. His price was fair and competitive. Aside from a minor delay that was unforeseen and unavoidable, the job was completed in the time frame promised and exactly on budget. The JL Roofing crew was professional and respectful and left the work areas clean at the end of each day. In the end, I was completely satisfied with the work and experience. I have had some bad dealings with contractors in the past but not this time. I highly recommend them and would use them again...but with the quality of work, I don't expect I'll need to. One more thing...For the record, I did not know John prior to the job. My review is based strictly on this one experience. For as many crappy contractors as there are out there, I felt it was important to celebrate one that really gets it right. I hope this is helpful. read more
