A friend mentioned that her son had been taking jiujitsu classes since he was 4 years old at a nearby studio that she highly recommended. I looked up WJJ was pleasantly surprised to learn of the affordable starter package for kids. Dr. Quynh made the enrollment process seamless and my son felt at home right away. He loved his first class and was very taken with how one of his classmates received a sticker in honor of how he respected his senseis and mentored his peers. For the second class, I brought my older son (8 years) with me for pick up and he immediately asked if he could also join (he did ). We love the principles of jiujitsu - respect, self control, hard work, and perhaps most importantly for children, delay of gratification - all foundational lessons that will shape my children's outlook and work ethic for years to come. We adore the instructors Dr. Quynh, Coaches Jalen and Charles, and Professor Nobou (5th in the world for his weight class!). They are knowledgable, skilled, patient, encouraging, and always make class fun for little ones. They do this while being firm, maintaining a safe environment, and employing consistent approaches for teaching children about self-discipline. I can honestly say that Professor Nobuo and his team of instructors have successfully created a balanced culture for the seasoned hobbyists and fierce competitors of this gentle art. I already feel like I'm getting the hang of it and better at it! Their boxing bags have sensors that measure your impacts which make it easy to track your progress throughout each class. To get started, simply book a class and show up! You can purchase boxing wraps from them and borrow gloves for your workout. I've taken classes with Instructor Gaviao twice now... I always feel so comfortable and accomplished... even though I do not practice as I should. My father was a Martial Artist, so to be around some good people who really enjoy the arts and take pride in themselves and the practice of Capoeira. I definitely plan to go again.

They have a small gym and weight room and could use a upgrade like Montbello and Hiawatha Davis got, would take this gym to another level. Eric has for year put his heart and soul into basketball and lacrosse and has made the difference in more then one kids lives that in itself makes this a top Rec in Denver. You can get wet in the pool, sweat on the racquetball or basketball court, and swell them muscles up in the weight room all for a little over 100 a year for a Denver resident!
