Stopped in here today with a couple of the guys from work on the way home from a funeral. Immediately got a "home town" warm feeling. Everyone was so pleasant (pun intended) and kind. It was filled with locals that welcomed us with open arms like we were locals too. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Delicious all around. Stellar corned beef hash, and my husband's Mexican omelette with the corn salsa was amazing. I wish I could tell you what my kid's French toast tasted like, but it was gone before I could get a bite. (I'm guessing it was delicious). JJ's Diner was a very pleasant surprise. We found it through Yelp on our way back north from Atlantic City. It is just a few minutes inland from the highway, and has great parking available. The diner is small, open until 3pm, I believe. We were all very happy with our meals from eggs, pancakes, soup, sandwiches, burgers, fruit, etc... It was our first time here and we all agreed to make it our place to eat breakfast or lunch now when we're in Atlantic City. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious and fresh. The menu has something for everyone. The manager was very friendly, and the waitress was very attentive. All around, nothing bad to say, except that it is a very small place, and you may have to wait, depending on what time you get there. We only waited a few minutes. read more

You're not going to this place for the atmosphere. It's clean and all, but it's nothing special. But that doesn't matter. You're going here because the food is excellent, and so is the service. This is right near my fiancee's dad's house so we stopped by after a visit on our way back home. Wow was I excited to find this place! I'm generally not a huge fan of eggs, pancakes or waffles (they are fine, but they're a bit boring), and at many breakfast places, that's about the limit of what's offered. But that's not the case here! We both had biscuits and gravy because it was on the daily menu and isn't generally offered, and I had a side of corned beef hash. It turned out to be too much food, but it was great! I was also very tempted to have the chipped beef on their regular menu, which I will definitely be trying next time! Also, the pictures waffles and chicken that someone else left looked delicious so I'm sure I'll give that a shot at some point too. I love that they have their standard dishes, and also have a nice sized daily menu that's constantly changing. We have been to the original location several time and once at the new location so we decided to go back for lunch on Saturday the 3rd - well it was very disappointing- I ordered the Mexican Salad with Chicken the chicken was tough and cold, it seemed like they opened a salad bag and dumped all in a bowl, also ordered a side of onion rings which were extreme oily and my husband's hamburger was average at best and served with a bag of chips, $10.00 for a less than average burger and a bag of chips!!! Excellent diner. Usually closes about 3pm. Service was great and the food is prepared with care. I had a homemade turkey cheese burger with bacon, cheddar, lettuce etc. Complete with fries and a cup of chicken orzo for about $9. It was very satisfying. Loved it. Boo had an apple and grilled chicken salad with homemade cranberry salad dressing. Served with grilled pita. She was very happy too. They do special chicken and biscuits special. Went today took my family, the server was very friendly, know what she was doing. My eggs were the worst I had eggs Benedict they should've been poached and soft and runny they came out like hard-boiled eggs of course the server was polite and had asked me to have them made out for which I don't like that my food made over but she did it's not her fault that they had new cooks this day and I had to wait for my food by the time I got my food my family was done eating and I was starving this was ridiculous and for the price I paid this was not good service on the diners part at all my mothers food was that I just average my daughters food was good but for the crabcake it was like paper thin not worth the price so the point is I start why my family ate and the service was poor and the cooks certainly didn't know what they were doing and a little bit of home fries I got with my meal was ridiculous I will not visit JJ Steiner again read more

Looking for someplace different I went to Yelp for help. Saw JJ's and read a few reviews. My daughter and I ordered breakfast . She is a cream chip beef expert, she loved it. Her only critique was it was a Bit"salty. I had the sausage gravy with biscuits and a side of corned beef hash. Both great choices. The service was prompt and friendly. We don't even open the menu. Everything we wanted was on the "special of the day" menu. Steak and eggs, chicken and waffle, biscuits and gravy, banana French toast, French onion soup, and corned beef hash. 1) steak and eggs - you can never go wrong with steak and eggs. It's a classic. 2) banana French toast - i forgot to try some so I can't say much. My friend said he liked it but liked the other stuff more 3) chicken and waffle - omg, I can write a whole post just on this but I'll keep it short. Waffles were good. But the chicken and the sauce was out of this world. The best chicken and waffles I've ever had was Roscco's chicken and waffles out in California... This blew it out of the water! 4) biscuits and gravy - ok... This was too awesome! Home made biscuits and gravy! This is the best I've ever had. We literally almost licked the plate! I usually get extremely thirsty from biscuits and gravy for being salty! No way! It was absolutely perfect. 5) corned beef hash - if you love corned beef hash you need to try the corned beef hash here! 6) French onion soup - refreshing after a night in AC. 7) grits- all I can say... The waitress noticed I wasn't eating them and asked why I told her they weren't warm they were replaced with fresh home fries . I needed an extra plate for my pancakes it was brought immediately. Came here in the morning on the way back from my bachelor party. Food was fantastic! Steak and egg breakfast and a side of "grandma's" sausage gravy. The sausage gravy is homemade with huge chunks of Italian sausage! Absolutely delicious. The owner JJ is super hospitable. It was a busy Sunday morning but he greeted us outside in the parking lot with coffee and fun jokes to put our name on the wait list. We just happened to come across this restaurant leaving Atlantic City. They had OUTSTANDING service and AMAZING food. Found this gem on my hunt for food with my friends after accidentally missing my exit for a different breakfast spot. First impression from the outside was that it looked really small and it was a bit in the middle of nowhere, but the second we stepped in we were greeted by friendly staff. Within 5 minutes of being there the owner stopped by our table and introduced himself and thanked us for choosing to dine here--super nice! As to the food, one word, yum! The portions were great for such a great price. We all got different things--omelettes, pancakes, breakfast burritos, etc. All of our plates were licked clean and we left happy.
