Anytime I drive through Macon or head to the Atlanta area, one of my main go to spots at JJ's. In my opinion they have some of the best fried chicken and fried fish. It's not the best looking place but for the most part, the customer service is really good and it's well kept. The food is good and it's always hot and fresh. The lemonades are really delicious and they also carry a variety of desserts like cakes and cheesecakes. JJs is a Friday staple in our house. On Friday's, we eat fish! They offer plates and combos. The $12.99 combos is our usual go to because it's customizable allowing you to choose up to 2 options. I opted for the 1 fish fillet (catfish) with 3 wings combo. It came with 2 sides - I switched it up and got 2 orders of corn nuggets. One got whole catfish and shrimp combo and another got perch and shrimp both with double okra. Each combo comes with 2 pieces of white bread and a canned soda. They had steady line while we were there. The young fellow at the register and the chefs in the back got us in and out. Not many people stayed to eat inside - so seemingly a to-go spot but business was booming regardless. It looked to be fairly clean. So why 4 stars? The chicken looked a little sickly - very small and slightly overcooked. Not what I'm used to from other locations but now I know. I'll be going back to my normal 2 piece catfish fillet plate next week. PS. This is one of those places some people might skip over on imagine alone, but that would be a mistake. The menu is pretty extensive with lots of good options including kids meals. Staff is nice and answered any questions we had. Large eating area with a few tables to sit if you decide to eat in. Our first time eating here I ordered the fried catfish dinner & my fiancé had the chicken wings and fried shrimp with lemonades. One of the best lemonades I've had in a long time, they also have flavors you can mix in if you want. We also ordered the strawberry and chocolate cakes for dessert. 10/10!! Sooo good ! Today I switched it up and had the catfish nuggets and he had the chicken breast & fried shrimp meal. I LOVE catfish, but unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the nuggets. They were fried & seasoned well, but a good bit were hollow on the inside. However the chicken breast and shrimp were AMAZING. So amazing Im not ashamed to say we shared his food instead of me eating my own. We also had the banana pudding, nothing spectacular but it was pretty tasty. read more

So many people recommend this place I had to try it. Let me start by saying I've nerve seen a restaurant offer, Catfish Nuggets, or fried Flounder. I ordered the flounder jumbo shrimp, chicken wings, and corn nuggets because, of course, I have to try the chicken and the fish! Chicken fried to perfection and seasoned well. This chicken I would eat cold! The shrimp was big and fried well. I wasn't a fan of the flounder, but everything else was great. Plus, the corn nuggets are my favorite. This was really good! I was surprised how good. My only criticism is, I wish the fish was a bit meatier. I had the fried flounder with fries. Everything was seasoned great. Fish was fried great. I also have to mention that even though I couldn't request extra condiments online (where I placed my order) they had plenty for me in the bag. I also ordered a piece of yellow cake with chocolate icing and OMG, I could give that cake 5 stars all by itself!!! It was a GIANT piece of cake that I will probably make myself miserable trying to finish. While the fish and fries were great, I know I'll be back for some cake. Everything was all right they get their own juices and a regular drinks. They have their own cakes and the fish and chicken pretty well.

I paid $19.80 for for 4 pieces of cake...... Now this cake was good but the price Crazy!! With that price I could have purchased a whole cake adding 20$ more. That don't make NO sense!! I will NOT be back!! read more

I recently purchased a fried shrimp dinner and was given one very small packet of cocktail sauce. I asked for additional cocktail sauce packets and would have gladly paid extra for them. I have spent a lot of money at this location as I work nearby. A new young male employee did not want to give me a second packet of cocktail sauce. These packets are very small. So I gave him the one packet back and went down to Kroger and purchased a bottle of cocktail sauce. His actions were very inconsiderate and because of this, I will never eat at this business again and I have suggested that my friends and family not eat here either. Greasy food clogs your arteries and can kill you. This rude young man probably saved my life by his hostile attitude to a loyal customer. read more

Every Friday, I call in and get my pickup number and eat for two solid days from one three-piece catfish meal. They fish is do fresh, you can store it in the fridge and warm it up In the air fryer and it will not lose it flavor. read more

Substandard food, low cost shrimp, chicken patties breaded, condiments in plastic pouches, drinks in a can, no ice, no cups, no salt and pepper shakers, window view of homeless village beyond parking lot, ate like I might have to escape, drug deals in front of the homeless village in the woods, watched several walking, biking, and driving to and away from homeless village. OMG! I saw all the reviews and I've lived in Macon for years and never been. Finally decided to door dash the catfish dinner. Holy Mother of God! That was the best Catfish we've ever had in our life! My dad is a chef and could not stop eating! We got it with extra seasoning. It was so good. I will definitely become a regular after just that one meal. High recommend this place after just one meal. First time eating here and the food was awful!! My husband ordered the perch dinner and I got the red snapper dinner. The fish and fries were so greasy. They didn't attempt to drain either. The 3 small pieces of perch and red snapper were laid on a bed of grease soaked bread. The fish wasn't seasoned at all. The meal comes with 2 sides, fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was served in a small sauce container that you would put tarter sauce or hot sauce in not a normal size side cup that you are familiar with. This is a rip off don't waste your time or money. We threw the food in the trash. read more
