It's an open layout with table seating in center and booth/table/chair seating. You can see ramen bowls lining the window view of the kitchen & cooks. I ordered Lycheetini, Spicy Chicken Ramen and spicy creamy shrimp. Now my drink was definitely a unique crafted cocktail with lychee at the bottom. It was very refreshing and sweet. Their ramen bowls come with standard ingredients and anything else you want is à la carte to add including an egg. Now that surprised me. My ramen had spicy chicken, spinach, bean sprouts and green onion. Both the spicy creamy shrimp and our table shared crispy chicken had flavors that met expectations. This is the first time we tried this place. We've been planning on going with a group. We were a group of six people out of which two people wanted to have Raman and rest of them wanted to get other menu items. We reached the restaurant around 9:00 PM and the closing time was 10 o'clock. There were not a lot of people, but they gave us a spot in front of the restaurant where you would see all the DoorDash people stopping their cars, not turning off the lights which would completely flash on your eyes. And the DoorDash would wait in the car until the Dasher gets a confirmation if the food is ready. Now you recommend recommendation to the restaurant people is to let people standing outside with the lights on to know that it is inconvenient for the customers. The server who was helping us with the food, don't seem to have a smile on the face. He was not responding to us, said sometime not giving us clear answers for the questions we were asking and before the kitchen was closed and they wanted to do a last call I was hoping that the server would have come check with us if we wanted to order anything else like dessert or something, but we were directly given a bill. It was almost like telling us to leave the place, which was very rude and embarrassing. Coming back to the food, we loved the Ramen, but the rest of the items(fried chicken, a crispy shrimp) unfortunately they were out of garlic rice, which we wanted to try for sure. Came here on a cold day for lunch last Sunday as we love ramen. The restaurant was very empty (2 other tables occupied when we arrived and 2-3 by the time we left). Having only a very mediocre experience, I can understand why it was not more busy. The appetizers were ok, but the ramen itself unfortunately disappointed. The spicy miso was not very spicy and both that and the special dish, a tonkotsu broth based ramen, had little flavor. The corn was the best tasting part of the dish. I might be spoiled from living in CA for a few years, but even here in KC we have at least 2 restaurants that make a better tasting ramen. read more

You do get a good portion--I had leftovers for a snack, while my boyfriend finished all of his--but honestly the best part was the soft boiled egg. I got a level 4 spice Tonkotsu Red bowl and my mouth was on fire. My boyfriend got a spicy level Spicy Chicken ramen and it wasn't hot at all, even after adding hot chili. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was my favorite; I would absolutely order this again. The crispy chicken was good, but a little hard to eat. I had been wanting to try Jinya for forever but was just never in the area. We were finally going to be passing by so we stopped and picked up some takeout for when we got home. Online ordering was easy. The food was ready when it was promised and the order was accurate. The staff members were very friendly. I always like to get edamame. Theirs is exactly what you would expect. Just simple edamame. We also ordered the pork gyoza. These were so good. They were steamed and the filling was perfection. I could honestly just order those as a meal. We also tried the Aburi Oshi-Sushi Shrimp. I have no idea what it really consisted of other than shrimp and rice. But I can tell you that it was delicious. It was light and had a strong lemon flavor but in a refreshing way. I definitely recommend it. Finally, ramen. I went with the Premium Tonkotsu Red: pork broth, pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, seasoned egg, nori, red hot chili oil, spicy bean sprouts, served with thick noodles. You also choose your preference of spice level from 1-10. I opted for a 5. The broth was so good. It was thick and flavorful. I'm glad I didn't go spicier because a 5 was perfect for me. Ramen with corn, white rice, French fries, chicken and ice cream! It was a big hit! He raved about the chicken and "noodle soup". Of course the ice cream lasted 3 seconds. We also tried the spicy chicken ramen. It was good, it it lacked a little flavor. Not quite spicy, but also needed a little more something. The ramen noodles were the skinny so didn't seem to soak up much broth. Definitely a big portion though! I would order it again, but try hot. We had the Birra Ramen too. That was super good! This was our first time here, we came because of the restaurant week deal. Our reservation was at 6pm and we sat around 6:15. We then weren't assigned a server and sat for a half hour. I had to ask the host after being sat for service. Our server was amazing he was very personable and apologetic. The drinks we got were very good, my bf got hot sake and I had a matcha lychee lemonade. The salad was fine not our favorite, I did like the crispy rice with spicy tuna. As for the ramen it lacked flavor in general. My bf said chicken noodle soup broth had more flavor... and then for the dessert we tried to order mochi and the tiramisu matcha which came with the restaurant week deal and since they ran out of both we got vanilla ice cream which while tasty not equivalent. We went to JINYA Ramen Bar during Restaurant Week and were disappointed to find that they were already out of several Restaurant Week menu items, which was frustrating since that was the main reason for our visit. We ordered the Crispy Chicken, Salmon Tacos, House Salad, Takoyaki, and the Blackened Tonkotsu Ramen. Unfortunately, the overall flavor and quality really missed the mark. The takoyaki wasn't crispy at all, the Crispy Chicken tasted like it had been frozen, and the Blackened Tonkotsu was especially underwhelming. The egg in the ramen was not a ramen style egg, it was just a regular boiled egg, and there was still eggshell on it, which completely ruined the dish for me. We didn't even finish more than half of what we ordered. On the positive side, the staff was very kind and attentive, and the atmosphere itself was nice. Came for the first time and it was busy. No host at the front. When we finally got the host's attention, I put my name in and it was an estimated 1 hour wait. We waited because we were recommended this place and it was busy so that was indicative of quality. We were excited for ramen! We waited for an hour and a half in the car waiting for a text that we never got. We went inside and asked about our wait time and place in line. The host says we're next in line. We waited another 5-10 while they cleaned the tables off. Once seated, one of servers and (possibly) a manager were arguing. That server took our order and immediately after doing so, got in another argument with the staff and stormed out. We saw other people waiting for the bill/dessert/entree, and we waited 20 minutes before we notified the (very sweet) bartender to please cancel our order because we've waited for too long. And because the server who took our order left as soon as he took it, we were sure our order was never made it to the kitchen. I understand the pressures of customer service, hospital and and the restaurant industry, there's definitely an expectation that there will be a level of professionalism. This was a really really poor first impression and it was a very frustrating experience. I would love to come back and try the food, but for now, the service has averted me from wanting to try again soon. We had the Takoyaki octopus balls, Spicy tuna tacos and a couple of Jinya pork buns. The Jinya buns are by far my favorite thing but a little on the expensive side at $5.5 each for a couple of bites. The tuna tacos and takoyaki were ok. They didn't taste very fresh and the octopus balls didn't have a lot of meat in them. The tuna tacos were also small but were cheaper than the bao buns. We had water and this all totaled about $35. We were better off ordering ramen bowls but my friend had not tried many of the offerings and appetizer items. Had a very disappointing KC Restaurant Week experience here. We joined the online waitlist ahead of time, and when we tried to check in, they were not honoring the online waitlist. We asked to be put on the waitlist to be seated, and they said "We're busy, there's no waitlist, just go stand over there and wait in line to be seated and it will probably be 30 minutes." We then were seated, and asked if the Restaurant Week menu was being honored. They said "Yes, it's being honored, but our system is not letting us put the restaurant week deals in, so you'll have to just order off of the regular menu." It took around 20 minutes after being sat to receive our drinks, and our server did not give us any refills of water. We ordered the spicy tuna rice and gyoza and the premium ramen. The appetizers were good, but the ramen was just ok. Although the restaurant was filled, there were at least four or five servers (probably five tables per section) and a manager working, so it was shocking that the service for drinks and orders were so slow. Additionally, the music was so loud that we could not hear each other or our server and the lighting was so dark with small print on the menu that it was hard to read the menu. read more

Very chill vibe and cool aesthetic I like that you can see the cooks in the kitchen and it appears to be a full bar. It's a tight space but wasn't very busy when I went around 7ish on a Tuesday. I don't think I'd like being there if it was packed. I first had Jinya in Canada so I'm definitely excited to have them close. I really like the ramen I had the spicy chicken ramen and added egg. The got the fish powder on the side with chili sauce and spicy sauce, the fish powder was a no for me so I didn't add it but maybe good if you want the more fishy taste it'll be good to add. Their ramen isn't like traditional I had spinach in my ramen it was actually good. They don't have fish cake, corn or other traditional add On's. The meal originally comes with thin noodles I got mines with thick noodles. I really enjoyed the cone it was really good and the panna cotta had a great flavor but I wasn't a fan of the texture. It's definitely more breading than octopus and if you're not careful you might miss the octopus cause it's not a big piece. Definitely something to try if you're wanting to get out of your comfort zone. Wings: The wings had a sweet & savory taste to them that I really enjoyed. Entree: I had the spicy chicken ramen bowl. You get a choice on the level of spice and I chose mild. It was the perfect amount of spice for me. My only negative is that I wished there wasn't so much spinach. Other than that, great! I had received an email about special pricing for their birthday so we went for lunch. We received a friendly greeting, but none of the menu or signage mentioned the birthday special. I was able to confirm the pricing, yet no one really went over what the items were so we kind of stumbled through it. We both ordered a Jinya bun and a watermelon drink that looked yummy. I was going to order the Jinya Ramen but was told it wasn't available for the special, so had to order the Jinya Black. I ordered it with no nori. We also ordered a small order of the chicken. The buns came out quickly and were quite tasty. We also really enjoyed the watermelon drinks. The ramen arrived and had nori floating in it. I pointed out that I had specified no nori and he said "he put it on the order" and just left me there with it, so I fished it out and put it on a side plate, but I still feel like it tainted my ramen with a flavor I'm not fond of (which is why I ordered it with no nori). The chicken came out later and was unevenly fried. I didn't care for it at all, but we ended up taking it home with us. So... if you're looking for an amazing brothed ramen only... skip this place. The menu is expansive though, so it's a fun place to try some appetizers, drink some cocktails and have a bowl. Went for the spicy chicken ramen with gluten free noodles (YES THEY FREAKING HAVE GF!), opted for the spiciest level. The ramen itself was a 3/5. The broth was very salted, and quite thick. Large chunks of chicken. Gf noodles were pretty decent. But the flavor profile... it just didn't do it for me. Very busy for a Tuesday evening, seating is interesting if you're sitting on the borders, because the tables are very very close together. Would I come back if I was looking for ramen? (To be fair, it's a low bar.) Jinya just opened so they're still working out the kinks, but service was as good as could be expected. It looked like it really started getting busy at 6 pm. Note their happy hour times were different online and on the menu. Their menu says it ends at 5 pm, their online website says it ends at 6 pm, a server told me it ends at 5 pm, a restaurant response to a Google review says it ends at 6 pm. Either way, we didn't get happy hour pricing at 5:30. Tonkotsu original 2010 ($16.80) - I'm glad they had thin noodles. A little salty, but flavor was there. Egg was overcooked. Tonkotsu black ($16.80) - Not intensely different in flavor than the original, despite all the extra additions of garlic. Egg was overcooked. Curry rice croquettes ($9.80) - I like Japanese curry and croquettes and this delivered on both fronts. read more

If your able to stop in during their happy hour i recommend it, for their great deals. I ordered the original and the flavor was exceptional. They have different types of add ins on the table to increase the spiciness or flavor. The original is not spicy at all, and it's great to have the option to adjust. This location has just opened and has been packed. Our service was prompt, if you don't call in ahead for seating or make a reservation, plan on a wait. The inside is on the smaller side and every table was filled. The decor and atmosphere is stunning. The main complaint would be the lack of light. I'd been to Jinya in Utah visiting a friend, so I knew we were in for a treat but wouldn't have known this was a chain otherwise.  There are multiple vegan options - we ordered the Flying Vegan Harvest and Spicy Creamy Vegan.  The verdict was that the Flying Vegan Harvest was actually spicier than the Spicy Creamy Vegan but both tasty.  For me, the portion sizes are huge, almost sharable, but not really a dish that's easy to share and not something I'd want to take home as "leftovers".  Since it's delicious I usually just gorge myself but wish the portions were a little bit smaller. read more

Cute place! The inside decor is nice, mural is cool. We sat outside since it was nice. I'm glad they had that option! Got the seaweed salad, which they skimped out on. They put normal green salad underneath instead of just filling the whole plate with seaweed salad which made it feel like they were skimping out on just giving more seaweed salad . That was disappointing. Got the Tonkatsu black since it had all the fixings . It tasted pretty good.
