My best friend got married in Bend a week ago. She scheduled 5 shellac manicures with Jinsei Spa for the day before her wedding. She received 3 confirmations that our appointments were to start at 11:30 am and even called to verify a few days before. The hostess assured her they would begin at 11:30 am. On the day of the appointments we received a phone call from another bridesmaid who was early to the appointment and she informed us that the receptionist was telling her our appointments were scheduled for 11 am and we were all late. Instead of apologizing for confirming my friend's appointments for the WRONG time they blamed it on the bride and told her she was the one who was mistaken even though we showed them all of the text confirmations that the appointments began at 11:30 am. Secondly, the spa did not have the correct appointments. Although my friend made appointments for 5 SHELLAC manis they insisted they did not have time to do shellac and we would have to settle for a regular mani two days before my friend's wedding. These manicures do not last and this was a huge disappointment for my friend who was hoping for the quality of a shellac manicure for all of her bridesmaids. The manicures and pedicure my friend received was terrible. It immediately was flaking off and looked terrible. The hostess was extremely rude and did not accommodate anything we needed or wanted. I understand being busy, but to overbook yourself when you know a wedding party is coming in, get the times wrong, and also book the wrong appointments is just wrong. This was her ONE big day and they couldn't get it right. Very disappointing, embarrassing, and frustrating for my poor friend on the day before her wedding. On one positive note, Mai was AMAZING. We had 2 manicurists working with us that day and Mai went above and beyond to try to be nice to us and make us feel more comfortable. While my friend's manicure and pedicure were horrible mine held up well and looked good for the big day thanks to Mai. You rock, Mai. Thanks for your great service, but the rest of the experience was terrible. We won't be back. read more

Okay. Let me start off by saying, I'm a stay at home Dad. I'm always, cleaning, picking things up and playing round with the kiddos. My back and other muscles are usually in pain. I have had pedicures from Jinsei. They are the best and very relaxing. I'm not a big massage guy. I have been under some stress recently and couldn't cope with tight shoulders and neck anymore. I booked an appointment about a week out. Leading up to the appointment I received two reminder texts, which I very much appreciated. I almost cancelled because of past negative experiences at Massage Envy. Boy am I glad I didn't. I walked in and was treated in a professional, welcoming manor. I was given a clean warm robe and slippers. The locker/dressing rooms were very clean and private. I was greeted by Sara who gave one of the best most relaxing massages I have ever received. My only regret was not booking a 90 minute session. After the massage I was given water and invited into the steam room. What a way to end a very relaxing day. If you are feeling the tension in your neck and need some Mommy or Daddy time, look no further. I can't recommend Jinsei enough. I booked another appointment before I left... a 90 minute haha! I've tried a few places in Bend for pedicures and for massage, and have been somewhat disappointed. It was nice to leave Jinsei today after their signature pedicure feeling relaxed, refreshed, and happy. The two things I'm really interested in during a pedicure are a nice quiet place to sit and read or relax, and a great foot and calf massage. On both fronts, I felt Jinsei did a great job. Unlike other reviewers, the lady working with me didn't say a word until after the massage when I told her wonderful it was. I was definitely happy with how long the massage was, too. The other two places I've been to downtown had either a very chatty person or they rushed it as soon as a new client came in. Not to mention that the polish job was worse than I could have done myself. At Jinsei, I felt like the woman was very focused on providing me a top-quality experience. Given the quality and the length of the pedicure, I won't bicker about the price although it's definitely too much to do regularly. The only other small downside is the raised bench seats for the pedicure aren't contoured chairs that really support your back. But I was surprisingly comfortable throughout, so it didn't matter. read more

Jinsei spa is by far the best in Bend. The staff is always friendly and professional. The atmosphere is quiet, calm and relaxing. The knowledge and experience of the staff is amazing whether it be a facial or massage you don't have to worry if they know what they are doing, they do! Had a nightmare experience at this spa. I was in town for my wedding and called months ahead of time to make a spray tan reservation- I explained that my wedding was on a saturday and the girl who I spoke with booked my tan for Friday morning, the day before. When I arrived at my appointment they told me I was "brave" for doing it the day before.. uhh, why would they say that?- apparently it is "best" to tan 2-3 days before an event.. something you would think they would have told me about months prior when I called to inquire about my spray tan... Anyways, I wasn't concerned as I spray regularly, as I have over the past 4 years. I have been to several salons (booths and hand-spray salons) and have never had this type of experience. The spray tanning color base they used turned my skin BLACK! I am fair skinned and Caucasian and I walked out looking like I had rolled around in a cole mine. The girls working convinced me that this was normal and it would rinse to a perfect tan the next day. However they also informed me I couldn't shower for 6 hours (which meant no wearing my cream colored rehearsal dinner dress I bought or showering. I ended up driving home crying and panicked and jumped in the shower to scrub it all off. Unfortunately my arm pits and neck creases were already stained and looked dirty and dark grey on my wedding day :( The staff did not want to reimburse me but after a visit from my maid of honor they decided they probably should... worst $45 dollars (almost) spent. Never will I return to Jinsei Spa- too bad because it is very cute inside, nice location. read more

My go-to place. JInsei is a jewel of a spa, and has the best pedis in town (so I'm really surprised at a couple of lukewarm reviews.) I swear by Eri and I've never had less than a top-notch experience. I'm a regular, so I base this on dozens and dozens of visits. They also always have a fabulous selection of candles, gifts and great PJs. read more

We did the couples massage and the masseuses were amazing. The space is very relaxing with a coed steam room, tea, infused water and trail mix for while you wait. Robes, sandals, lockers, etc., are provided as one might expect. Bathroom was stocked with plenty of supplies to freshen up post massage, including a hair straightener. Thank you! read more

4 of us decided to visit Jinsei for a relaxing girls day on our annual visit to Sunriver. We called on a Monday and they worked to accommodate all of us for massages. The receptionist was incredibly patient and friendly. The Spa its self was perfect; very private, relaxing and clean. Before going in we were able to kick back in the relaxation room or loosen up in the steam room (INTENSE). I had Jaques and he was great. Probably one of the best massages I have ever had. The best part was that after we were all finished not a single one of us girls was dissatisfied! When does that ever happen?! We were able to shower and get ready at the Spa for our evening out. We even sampled the make-up line they sell on site. Thank you Jinsei for taking care of us. We will certainly return next year! read more

Just experienced a great massage from Marion today at Jinsei. She was very professional and asked all the right questions before we started. She really knew how to work all my trouble spots and I can't believe how great I still feel after several hours. I wish I lived here so I could continue to get great massages but alas I am an out of towner. The spa was clean and had a very welcoming waiting area to relax in before I was called. Not what I wanted, not what I asked for. I gave two stars because the technician was friendly but the results were very disappointing. I had an eyebrow wax from Kelly and I was very specific in telling her what I wanted. I told her "full, thick eyebrows. Better to take off too little than too much." Well she gave me thin eyebrows. Pros: Nice atmosphere and mostly friendly. Cons: bad eyebrow job. read more

Over 2 weeks ago I took my sister and her daughter-in-law (my niece) to Jinsei for a mani/pedi to celebrate my sister's birthday. First, the only confirmation text I received indicated our appointments began at 11 a.m. I had booked for 10:30 a.m., but assumed they made an adjustment. When we arrived at 11 a.m. They said we were late so my niece could not get a manicure. They said since they only had my telephone number they could only confirm my appointment. My sis and niece are from San Francisco and I made ALL our appointments. The 3 of us were given our pedis altogether. The gal who did my pedicure cut my big toenails so short that I developed an ingrown toenail on my left foot. I am a faithful pedi person and have not had an ingrown toenail in 20 years. Today I spent my morning in Urgent Care having my infected toe taken care of. Given how short she cut the nail, it was evident she did not know what she was doing. All in all, it was disappointing for all 3 of us. I read more

I just got back from having a FANTASTIC massage!!!!! "Jaque" was amazing! His pressure very strong, which I love, and the scalp massage was incredible. I really don't enjoy "talkers", and he wasn't! Made me feel comfortable and loved every second. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is because the locker room and steam room were EXTREAMLY small......steam room is co-Ed and size of a walk in shower... Was in there when a couple came in, and it was a bit awkward to say the least I walked out after 30 seconds of us being squished together.... Same applys for the locker room.... Picture one small wall being lockers, one wall a single shower w curtain and another wall a small bench, then you add 4 people trying to maneuver around each other whispering "sorry", "excuse me" while half naked, doesn't necessarily put you in the "take your time getting ready" category. But more of a get me the heck out of here I'm clostrophobic!!!!!! But if I had to rate massage experience then 5 stars for sure!!!! Oh, and the relaxation room was nice too...... read more
