This cafe was known to all locals as the bus station cafe but it's actual name was the Parthenon café, it was a scruffy smoky dive with as it was built next to the old bus station, since then the old bus station as been demolished and in it's place a new market built right next door, the indoor market rules state no hot food to be served so this is in the ideal spot to stop for a breakfast, lunch, evening meal while waiting for a bus or while shopping.
Having gone in there at least three times a week since the new owners took over a few month ago, I have found out they had a very limited budget to transform the place cosmetically, however with small steps they are indeed doing this and I can categorically vouch for the Tuna steak in tomato and garlic sauce and the chicken basciola which Luigi cooks there and then in front of you, the taste is amazing, the breakfast I believe to be over priced by far but again they cook everything fresh.
I would give this cafe the full five stars for everything however some of the pries don't compete with local cafes.
The owners though give their customers 100% attention and carry all purchases to the tables. look after children brilliantly and make you feel warm and wanted like a member of the family, the faces I see in there tend to be there allot and seem to share the same opinion as I do that once you find home cooking like this and friendly warm atmosphere why not keep returning. read more
