I'm sad to report a bad experience at the Shawnee location today. My family of eight arrived to see a sign saying closing early at 1:00pm and it was about 12:40. We were told there would be about a 20 minute wait which we always expect for a family our size. We sat and waited. At one point one of the staff informed us that they were out of biscuits and the reason for closing early was short front of the house staff. Eventually, three other groups that came after us were seated and we were told a little after 1pm that they didn't have room for us because no one was leaving despite about five groups leaving while we were waiting. We offered to split into two smaller tables that we could see from where we were waiting but she then claimed they were out of food. That's just not true, but we could take a hint. The problem is I used to be a restaurant manger and I can recognize and give Grace for short staffed issues. What I can't tolerate is being lied to after being told to wait then shown the door when serving us is just too inconvenient. Granted, I'll always leave rather than force myself to get served because I value my health. This is terrible customer service and wasn't even handled by a manager, which it should have been. That poor girl was obviously over worked and just ready to be done but that is not the nature of how the business works. We came well before closing then were summarily dismissed as undesirables. I'm providing this feedback because I really enjoy Jimmy's food and service and I know we all have bad days but that does not excuse bad behavior. We ended up taking our business to iHop. read more

I like the food (basic greasy spoon, nothing special), though it is cheaper than Denny's, and a touch better in taste & appearance. Came in for a quick bite before church... They got us (wife & I) in & out in under 40 min for under $20. Awesome! If I could offer one tip to the management: encourage your wait staff to be friendly! I know that customer service is tough work, but you are ultimately there to serve your customers. Our server seemed grumpy & generally unhappy. Put on your game face! Tasty meal though! First time at Jimmy's Egg. Went with hubby and two kids. The server brought everyone their drink except our youngest, who is special needs. His drink came after meal was served. I got the build your own classic combo with scrambled eggs, ham, link sausage, and fried potatoes. The eggs were served cold and had the consistency of powdered eggs. YUCK! The potatoes were cubed and fried with their skins and were so crisp that I couldn't eat them. The side of cinnamon raisin bread was served burnt on the on the bottom and the cinnamon flavor was so strong that I got sick from it. I was unable to finish my meal due to getting sick (as in going to the restroom and throwing up) after trying to eat the meal provided. The service was mediocre at best. The server was defensive about the burnt bread and very proud of the fact that they bake it at the location. She claimed it is supposed to be that black on bottom and through the crust. As a bread baker, I have never seen a loaf that black, including pumpernickel breads. My husband tried tasting the bread and said it was indeed burnt. This was the only time I have ever been to a Jimmy's Egg and will be the last. Disgusting food experience. The only thing that I truly enjoyed was the cup of lipton tea served with my meal. read more

This morning 8/6/16 I decided to eat here. It was quite crowded but I didn't mind waiting on a table. I had been waiting about 15 min when the hostess came over and asked who was next, so I raised my hand to indicate I was, and the couple behind me said "there are two of us" and started to walk past me (standing right in front of the hostess), so I said yes maam I'm next and its only me. That hostess looked me squarely in the eye and said, and I quote "Well next time use your words", then left me stand there while she walked to my table 15 feet away. I was stunned as I had never had a grown woman talk to me the way adults do to toddlers and preschool children. I followed her to the table rather than walk out, but I did tell her that " You know, I'm not a preschooler" to which she replied, again, looking me squarely in the face "Then don't you raise your voice at me again". No. Just No. This is not how you talk to the people who support your business by eating there. I would not say she needs to be fired, because we all have days like this where we are mean and grouchy, however, I do think someone in management should declare a pow wow and remind all of the staff that the words they use make or break a business.
