This is my first time going to JJs. We needed something quick on our way to SD. My husband is a JJs fan (but he also likes subway so...) but I thought it couldn't be bad. Meh. I was not impressed at all. The bread almost looks like toy bread, the meat and well all of the toppings were lacking. I asked for cucumber and on a giant sized sandwich there were 6 total slices, one thin layer that didn't totally cover the bread. Was the food edible? Yes. My first time since we do not have any locations nearby me in Oceanside. Parking seems a little hectic since it's downtown and it was a holiday weekend, I did find a spot pretty quickly. The employees were very kind and helpful. It seemed like the bread was a tiny but hard like maybe it was lightly toasted or something. There also seemed to be skimpy portions of everything. Not only does JJ have GF bread, they make delicious sandwiches (I got the classic club) AND, their customer service was excellent. We liked the bathrooms so much, decided to eat here for lunch. This was a great decision because it was nice and cool inside ( very hot outside ) and the sandwiches were affordable. We had two sandwiches Italian Night Club - Genoa salami, capicola, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo & vinaigrette. - This was a good sandwich especially with the added cherry peppers Hunter's Club - Double roast beef, provolone, lettuce, tomato & mayo - This was okay, it needed more flavor especially when compared to the similar sandwich found at Jersey Mikes. - Not sure why they don't cut the sandwiches in half. I've been coming to this Jimmy John since they opened and have never been disappointed. The sandwiches are always packed full of ingredients and taste great. Today now that was a different story I was very disappointed with the experience and food. The kid working there seemed very irritated to be there maybe it was because he was alone during a lunch rush. I had Jimmy Johns up in Oregon last summer, but they finally expanded to Southern California. This place is great all the way around. Quality ingredients and in their words "freaky fast" service, which proved to be true. There's limited seating at this location, but most people grabbed it to go it seemed during the peak lunch hour. I shared an Italian Night Club on French bread and a Hunters Club "unwich," which means it's a lettuce wrap. First of all both sandwiches were delicious and the ingredients you can tell are top notch. However, the "club" size is described as "giant," but that diction is really pushing it. As far as subs go, you can just barely call it large. And when you do the unwich it is no longer large. The Hunters Club is 1/4 pound of rare Roast beef and it's absolutely delicious, but I probably could've paid for extra meat, which is an option. It would've brought the cost of the sandwich over $10, but sometimes you just want your carbs for later. It would have done the Italian Night Club sandwich a complete disservice to have it as an unwich since it works so well with the French bread. I've learned to really like JJs. First thing I had to learn, they are ridiculously FAST. Which was disturbing the first few times I visited. It seemed pushy, almost rude, rushed. Once I figured out it's truly part of what they do here I came to appreciated it. They usually have the sandwich made before you finishing paying. Usually a gourmet sandwich is a waste for me. I'm ordering the same thing no matter where I go. A Veggie with everything. Gourmet sandwich places tend to focus on the meats. The Veggies here are really good, fresh and a nice combo if you get em all like I do. The hot pepper mix is really good too. They pull out some of the bread on the rolls which gives a really nice bread to ingredients ratio. No mustard, no mayo, doesn't need it here. Definitely better than that huge sandwich chain that's around every corner. Sadly that's usually my best option for a quick Veggie Sandwich. So I'm happy to see JJs popping up in my hood! Jimmy johns is so perfect if you need a quick lunch or dinner! They live up to the name freaky fast. Their menu is not overly large so you can choose quickly. My favorite is the beach club, hold the mayo. It is a perfect sandwich and the bread is what makes it. Since there are so many quick sandwich options, you have to find something different with each. The bread is amazing at Jimmy Johns and you can actually but just the bread! This location is very clean and friendly staff. Wow!! Here I was sitting at home working feverishly with nothing to eat for lunch and getting starving. Decided to place an online order for delivery since I couldn't get away from my desk. This place has amazing sandwiches; however, they screw up sandwiches all the time. For example, they add ingredients I don't want and don't add the ones I want. It shouldn't be my obligation to open my sandwich and check its contents before I leave, nor don't I want to micro manage them making my order. The employee I talked said the prescribed amount was 1 teaspoon. The staff was friendly and made me a new sandwich, but was the same as the first. Awful service, just beyond acceptable rude workers. I know it's covid and public safety is huge, but there was no reason for the main worker to be so rude and disrespectful to the customers. We found this new place on Yelp. You can order online, which is great when you're taking orders for the family and everyone is making their own customizations. They even let you say whom the sandwich is for when you're ordering, and they'll write the name on each sandwich. I ordered the Beach club, and changed the bread to the french bread and added sprouts. The sandwich came with Avocado spread, and it was spread between the cheese and turkey, which is exactly how I make sandwiches at home (so you don't lose the condiment in the bread) LOVED IT. The spouts added just the right amount of 'grainy' taste. I substituted for the French bread, which is soft and creamy. In short, it's a tasty sandwich, made well, and at a very competitive price. It seems like it's a relatively new chain restaurant (at least new to me) and I think they'll do well. I'll keep going back, that's for sure! read more
