Love this little market. I asked for a quick tutorial since I had never been here and they were…read moresuppose to close in 20 minutes. The very nice man assured me that they would stay as long as I needed them to. He then explained ed that everything in the store was North Carolina made. They have a good variety that includes soaps and lotions, snacks, sodas, etc. They cut their own meats, and they have some of the best fudge you have ever eaten. They give samples too. Peanut butter fudge won me over and I had to have walnut too. The salted carmel cookies at the checkout were a last minute add on and they are totally worth the price. Salty, sweet, crunchy and chewy pieces too. So delicious. The Pimento cheese was a must have and we ate most of it with crackers as soon as I got home.i should have bought the biggest container they had. I'm looking forward to the ground sausage and link sausage and country ham on some biscuits. They have pasta made by The Past Wench. I'm excited to try that also. I bought the Spinach tomato and the cracked black pepper. I'll go back for the wild mushroom pasta. Just too many fantastic options to choose from. They were so welcoming and it's just a little market like my Mom use to take us to growing up so I felt right at home. I'll be stopping in every chance I get.

It had been almost two years since we'd been to Southern Roots, and I remembered it being good, but…read morethis visit was even better. We had the burger and gluten-free risotto, and both were very good. The wine list is a strength, with plenty to choose from. Prices are a bit high for Jamestown, but the food and variety justify it. The thing that really stood out for us was the gluten-free options, which goes well beyond the usual salad and grilled chicken: cauliflower crust pizza, quesadillas on a gluten-free tortilla, risotto, and shrimp and grits, plus the meats, salads, and sides that are gluten-free anyway. You don't see that many real options on one menu very often. If you eat gluten-free, put it on your list; if you don't, the food and wine are reason enough to go.

We had a great experience at Southern Roots. Between the table, we tried the Gouda Pimento Dip,…read moreshort ribs, the Granny Smith salad with shrimp, and the crab-stuffed trout. Everything was delicious, although my partner wasn't a huge fan of the short ribs. The trout and salad were both excellent. The cheese dip was delicious. The sides were a standout, especially the Parmesan spaghetti squash, which I highly recommend. We had to put some extra salt on the sides, but that's purely personal preference. They also had several reasonably priced drink specials, which was a nice surprise. The service was amazing--friendly, attentive, and a big part of what made the meal so enjoyable. Overall, a really solid dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

This restaurant was founded in Jacksonville Fl in 1994 by two brothers, former fire fighters. RBI, the parental company of Burger King and Popeye's, purchased the chain in 2021 for 1 billion dollars! This particular location was opened about 5 years ago. My favorite sub is an Italian, and that's what I ordered. Their Italian is made up of Genoa Salami, pepperoni, Virginia honey ham, provolone, and "Italian dressing and seasonings". Also included is lettuce, tomato, onion, and deli mustard. This sub was ok, but did not challenge the best in the area, whether chain ( Jersey Mike's, Jason's Deli, or Publix) or local ( Francesco's, Venezia's, Giacomo's, or Damn Yankee's). The roll was ok, and the filling was reasonable, but the overall quality of the meat was not the best. The Virginia Honey Ham was entirely too sweet, it very much mask other flavors. And the deli mustard is not an item I'd include in a classic Italian Sub. I'm might try another sub at some point, but definitely not the Italian!

My sandwich was on stale bread and had too much ranch dressing that didn't taste right. We paid over 27.00 for just two sandwiches with a coupon. It would have been 34.00 without it. If you are charging a fortune for your food it at least ought to be edible. I ate half of mine and my boyfriend had a plate fl of burned pieces of bread he had to cut off we were hungry and we ate what we could. We tried to contact the store by phone and the company both by phone and online and corporate by phone but got unavailable busy and could not send messages. We will never eat there again.
