I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky in not knowing about this spot when I lived in the Old Market…read more I stumbled upon a TikTok of a girl getting what looked to be the sandwich of my dreams, and I was surprised to find out it came from a little deli next to La Buvette, one of my favorite spots in the Old Market. My husband and I were downtown for lunch, and I knew I had to stop by. The menu is VERY limited; there are only two to three sandwiches everyday and a few soups. I decided to order the mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic sandwich and he tried the mortadella with dijon. My sandwich came cold and his was hot, but both were served on the most delicious focaccia bread with flaky sea salt. I was in heaven. There is very limited seating, but the shop as a whole was very cute. There are some specialty meats, cheeses, drinks, and other food goods available for purchase, too. Everyone working was very kind and helpful. This is a must visit if you are a sandwich lover!

THIS is where you come to buy the AMAZING sourdough bread that they serve there. I was at an art event once featured a prominent German photographer. During his gallery talk, he jubilantly exclaimed that he LOVES coming to Omaha, that the Buvette sourdough is THE BEST in the WORLD! I agree. And the really great thing is that they will make amazing sandwiches from it. There is a chalkboard menu listing their sandwiches each day. There are usually 3 different rotating choices. It is enough, I usually have trouble deciding which one to get even with that small menu. The flavors are amazing and the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. I'm going to say that these might be the best sandwiches in the world. Most of the sandwiches are made on this AMAZING house-made focaccia bread. Literally the only thing that makes me sad here is that sometimes they run out of focaccia and ask if they can make it using baguette instead. Their baguettes are amazing as well but personally I don't like them as sandwich bread. So in that event I usually get the soup instead. Their soups are delicious so it's not that big of a problem, Seating is very limited, with a tiny table inside and a couple outside, so you will probably have to find somewhere else to sit and enjoy your lunch, There are deli items, pickles and olives, desserts, and some specialty grocery items available, Staff there are lovely as well and I always feel happy when I visit. Oh, and this - you know how I said these are probably the best sandwiches in the world? One might expect these would be a premium price. I am delighted to tell you that $7.98 will get you one of these amazing things. They are large and satisfying. It is an incredibly good value. I come here often!

Main Street Market is one of those hidden gems Yelpers love to discover. I was in Milford for work…read moreand needed to grab lunch. There is less than a handful of food options and very little feedback on Yelp about any of them. I had heard from a friend that Main Street Market had cute Amish rugs so I figured it would be worth a stop and if there weren't food options, I'd move on. Not only did they have cute rugs, they had groceries, home decor, homemade foods (including frozen pie crusts, yummy bread, cookie dough), canned foods, furniture...lots of goodies. And they also had a deli! All the sandwiches had a railroad theme to them with some traditional and some unique combinations. I had the Lizard Scorcher which included roast beef and Swiss topped with a spread of hot pepper jelly. It was fantastic! And the bread is thick, fresh and homemade. I grabbed a drink from the cold case and chips from one of the aisles, and sat outside in one of the handmade rockers and took in the beautiful, breezy afternoon. This is a family owned business. It sounds like the family moved here from Missouri, saying on their website: "We had always shopped at bulk food stores back in Missouri. We missed the old-fashioned products we could find there, such as homemade noodles and Dutch cocoa powder. We especially missed the lower prices on everyday items such as spices, pastas, gelatins, and baking supplies. So back to our home area we went to do a little research on the bulk food stores there. If a store of that type was appreciated in Missouri, surely Milford, Nebraska would benefit from one, too, we thought. Thus, it became a family endeavor, and Main Street Market opened its doors May 1st, 2015." I would say this place is worth a visit if you're in town or even if you feel like a road trip. I'd love to return and pick up some homemade crusts for the holidays and maybe even some gifts. They have these beautiful, colorful baskets all around the store that I almost took home. Plus, when you shop here, you're supporting a family and community. Add it to your list. :)

I noticed as I kept going he would be increasingly irritated. One day he finally told me to call ahead for deli orders. I called ahead and he quoted 3 hours for 1.5 lbs of meat. I wandered around then after 2 hours I thought this is ridiculous and called to cancel my order. Not long after I got about 10 missed called from the store...it was scary to be honest. I didn't even want to listen to the messages. I avoided going there for months but my son loves the fresh bread and meat so I went back. I didn't call because I didn't want to wait 3 hours. I'm sure he recognized me because another customer came in to order deli meat and he loudly said "IT'LL BE AWHILE BECAUSE THAT CUSTOMER DIDN'T CALL IN EITHER". I don't understand why he makes paying customers feel uncomfortable for ordering deli when there's literally a deli counter there. If you don't like it make prepackaged items to go, or get more staff. But don't take it out on the customer for doing something every other deli will do normally. I'm bummed to say I won't be coming here again. There's another deli out west called Casanovas where the owner is much nicer and doesn't mind slicing deli meat to order. It's worth the trip.
