After visiting a few times, I am done because the food is just far too inconsistent. They are quick to get the food out, but my last sandwich was served on a roll that was a little dry, it didn't hold together as I was trying to eat it and instead would break into pieces. This is especially bizarre because I was there during lunch rush and it seems like the bread is baked fresh. I'm not sure what caused it, but it was not pleasant. read more

Oh Jimmy John's. I love you. You're always there when I need food in a pinch. Well, when I need good food in a pinch. And you all know Jimmy John's, so this will be a review of this location, not the food. This location is a place we discovered during DEMF some four years back. For a friend who cannot eat carb-loaded food, for my vegetarian friend, for my french bread loving ass, this was the easiest compromise. The lines were near non-existent for such a busy weekend, and the staff was pretty damn quick. Every time except for once, the food was perfect. We did have a bad sprouts incident last year, but it seems this year they were back on their game. Overall, a good location that has been pretty solid, save for one or two run ins where they obviously just needed to get some fresh veggies. I prefer this one to the Greektown one, even though this one wouldn't deliver to Cobo while the Greektown one would. read more

Called and spoke to the manager, Will and he said the sandwiches hadn't been made so I told him I would pickup the order to get the food faster. I arrived & the sandwiches hadn't been made. Wow, 5 stars for a chain sandwich shop in the CBD? Yes. You know why? They are open until 6pm. Most of the "lunch for business people" places downtown close at 3pm (or even earlier). I can't blame them since downtown can be a bit of a ghost town after 5pm. On more weeknights than I'd like to admit, JJ's has saved me from working late induced starvation. More than once there's been the 5:45pm "looks like I'm going to be here for a while and I'm going to need dinner" realization. Followed by the 5:55pm order of a #4 with avacado and no mayo. I am usually overly grateful for my sandwich, but not having to walk 2 blocks to the scary subway down Congress (open until 7pm) or live off stale cookies from my manager's cookie jar is worth being grateful for. read more

Ordered this location for delivery for lunch and they messed up my sandwich in every way. Ordered no onion and added hot peppers, they added pickles instead, and took off the tomatoes which I did want. I don't think the meat was even the correct meat it tasted way off. This is by far the worst for Jimmy Johns that I have ever been to. I have eaten at Jimmy Johns all over the country and this place just totally fails any expectation of having a good meal. Freaky fast no I don't think so how about Freaky slow, so slow i almost left. It's the fireworks downtown in Detroit tonight and they didn't even have the turkey necessary to make the sandwich I wanted. Not only that, I got the wrong sub when they handed me my sub to eat. The restaurant was a mess cups, napkins, and food littered the tables, cup lids were not stocked, the employees were not at the register, also the employee that made the customers sandwich was eating in the view of the customers and she did not washing her hands after eating and before making another persons sandwich. The cashier was on her cell instead of assisting customers. If I would have seen this before I have eaten my sandwich I would have asked for a return. read more

Wow! Ok, so I didn't realize there was a Jimmy John's downtown until this past week. I have been driving out to Royal Oak for no reason!! If you haven't been to a Jimmy John's, this is what you should expect. You walk in and immediately you see a huge wall menu of the sandwiches/subs they offer. Everything is typically cold-cut style, which is honestly the worst thing about Jimmy John's. Occasionally I would love to have a hot sandwich, but this is something that Jimmy's doesn't do. This location is awesome for those working in downtown Detroit and need a quick bite to eat. It's fairly new, and its super comfortable to come inside and get away from the bustle of the city. read more

Work gets hectic sometimes. So hectic that there are no sit down lunches or even time to order in. Just the other day, I only had 15 minutes for lunch and no time to go anywhere else. I ate up most of my time by taking the elevator to the lobby, the other elevator to the street and walking two blocks to JJs. Luckily, my sandwich was made in about a minute and I was able to eat on the way back and make it in time for my conference call. I can't think of another place that would get me in and out so quickly. Maybe there are other places that can do it, but not consistently. With JJs I can trust they will be fast, and I appreciate that. read more

I'll admit to being biased. I was the manager from June 2007 until July 2009. This location delivers to a VERY small area in downtown Detroit, with the rest of downtown being handled by the location on Monroe. There's nowhere to park on the street, though there is valet in front for $10 and a parking garage across the street. The lobby gets packed around 11:30 and stays that way until around 1:30p, empty seats are rare. Don't worry about long lines, they crank through them pretty quickly, and if you're really in a rush, just order delivery. They're supposed to have it to you in under twenty minutes. read more

I visited this shop on June 14 before a Detroit Tiger game. I ordered an Italian sandwich and it was ready in just a few seconds. I sat by the front door to eat it. The guy that made my sandwich walked by me with a bag of garbage he was taking outside. He was wearing latex gloves which looked well worn. He pushed on two doors with the gloved hand to get out of the store, went around the corner and disposed of the garbage bag and them again used the same gloved hand to re-enter the store. Just awful customer service. I had a gift card and when I went to use it the cashier made an error, she called her manager over to help and the manager basically made me feel like it was my fault for using the gift card then when we tried to use the gift card after clearing up the error, she told me there was no balance on the card and the cashier even had my back saying there was a balance but the error it voided my card out. No apology, no offer to make it right. Lost of money. I lose and Jimmy wins. Screw that. read more

I am a big fan of Subway and fast food joints in general. This place was one of the worst I ever stepped into. To start with the person who took the order was unfriendly with a frown on and less articulate than a zombie. No clear announcement of whose order was being called out. No tissues in sight and neither are any sauces and a request for the rightful pickle took 10 mins to be denied. Sandwich itself was not bad but nowhere near other sandwich joints here. More than the food it were the zombie employees and inconvenience that turned us off. First and last time here. read more

This store rocks, not only because their sandwiches are perfect every time (not true with every JJ's) but because the staff here is nothing short of delightful. Even when they're having a crazy busy day (which is alot of days) everyone is polite, gracious and freakishly fast. I have had my sandwich handed to me while I was still in line waiting to pay.
