Average burgers and chicken. They are known for the burgers but honestly nothing special. Chicken tenders are better. Soft pretzels with cheese are a must get. We've been going to the Portage, Mi Culver's since it opened. service was always good. The man who either owned the franchise or he was the manager was there all the time. Things ran smoothly. We noticed he hasn't been around for awhile. And the quality of serv has gone down. We have had our order wrong multiple times. both in the restaurant and in the drive thru. Things are rung up incorrectly. We have been over charged numerous times. Tonight I ordered a single with cheddar -- she rang up chili fries. we got that off but when our food came, I had a double with American cheese. That happened the last time I ordered a burger there. My favorite item from Culver's will always be the concrete mixers. I love their vanilla ice cream with Oreos added in. They are really make the meal worth it! Located in a parking lot of a Home Depot off of busy 12 mile and i75. The 12 Mile reverse weave makes entering the lot a little odd, especially at night. Inside is a large counter to order from a variety of food, from the signature greasy burgers and frozen custards, to comfort foods. The staff was polite and fast, the burgers and custard were good, the place was clean. Each day there is a new custom custard flavor in addition to the standards. I think I will always have room in my stomach, for this whole menu of food no matter how full I am. I ordered $61 worth of food and ate it all by the next day. My husband got a fish sandwich and cheese bites, and onion rings. But he gave me his onion rings. I have been in love with this place since I found them two years ago. Am I witnessing the decline of a once really good fast food restaurant? I hope not. Culver's was always great, with clean restaurants, good food and great service - we went in expecting just that and it just wasn't. We went in at about 3 pm on a Saturday. The store was dirty and the dining area had trash all over the floor. The soda machine had two out of order flavors that looked like they had been that way for a while. The condiment station was messy. And the guy taking our order...yeesh! What happened to Culver's employing people who are a cut above the average fast food worker? This blank-faced, dead-eyed guy could barely mumble loud enough for us to hear him. The food was good, although he wrote up my husband's order as no onion when he wanted no tomato...regardless of what he wanted and what was on the receipt, it ended up with only cheese somehow. I'm giving three stars rather than two because I feel like this isn't the norm for Culver's - maybe it was just a really bad day. We will give it another try at some point. read more

Culvers is an amazing place! Went there on trip back from relatives work, drive thru was not that long, staff were very wholesome. But when you eat inside you get everything the drive thru has, plus more! It feels like a classic diner but with a bit of a modern touch, which I love. The food is so amazing! My favorite item is the butterburger. And if your not sure if the drive thru also has the free ice cream for the kids meals too, it does, so you also get your kids happy too. read more

We went to this restaurant on Father's Day for Dinner. The dining room was closed. They don't have enough help and are working so hard. We are at the picnic tables outside and saw SO many cars pull in, walk to the restaurant only to be told the dining room was closed. Thought for the restaurant... pay higher wages. Offer bonuses. Wow! I have never heard of Culvers before coming here, and I am shocked this gem has been hidden from me. A coworker wanted to get lunch and suggested this fast food. She explained to me that their burgers axtually tasted real and delicious, not like a typical fast food restaurant. I was quite shocked with delight when I took my first bite of my food. I did not expect it to be so delicious, it made me want another burger! It was quite filling though, abd the meat was quite flavorful. The burger was fresh. The crinkle type fries were super hot and fresh. They were delicious - not super salty or oily. I love the cute ketchup packets they gave to me. I will definetely be back again for lunch sometime. My husband wanted to try Culver's, so we ventured out at 2pm on a Sunday and the drive-thru line was packed! We had the double butterburger, cod filet sandwich, and cheese curds. I am not a Midwest native, so this was my first Culver's experience and I appreciate the extensive menu. The cheese curds were definitely the highlight. This is the closest Culvers to me, but I had never been. A friend and I were craving it at the end of our Grand Haven/Fennville trip today, so we stopped in on the way back - it's conveniently off of 75, on 12 Mile near John R. The food is always tasty at Culvers and the facility and bathroom was clean here. It gets minus 1 star from me because I asked for my burger to be PLAIN except for tomatoes and pickles, and instead it had cheese on it (a. I hate cheese on burgers, mostly and b. I can't really eat cheese either). I would have assumed that "plain except for tomato and pickle" meant no cheese but next time I will tell them that. I LOVE Culver's! This Wisconsin based chain was a recent discovery for me, on a mini road trip through the States. The butter burger is amazing, very juicy and made fresh to order. I love the cheese bites option as a side, so delish! The freshly made dairy custard is a real treat for dessert as well! Very disappointed! I have been to multiple Culver's throughout Michigan and have been more than satisfied by not only the food but the customer service. Here at Madison Heights I had a poorly put together root beer float and even worse customer service. They forgot my onion rings so I went back with the receipt and told them, and they came back a second later to open the bag in my hands and threw them in. I was really looking forward to trying this place when one opened on Haggerty Rd nearby. I used the drive thru twice, once for a hamburger and fries and again for a fish and chips meal. I took them home to eat. The hamburger was overcooked and dry & the fries were limp and somewhat greasy. The fish meal was incomplete, as there was no coleslaw included. The fish texture was like it was cooked in old, overused oil. I wonder if the food is any better when eating in, but I'm not sure I'm going to try. read more
