This yarn store is amazing. My friends and I try to do the yarn crawl every year. The people working are so helpful and friendly. The store has so many options it can take hours to look through the store. The store has several rooms, a couch for resting, restrooms and even a sale room. My friend jokes the sale room is the escape room. Can you get out of there without buying anything? We haven't been successful yet. I placed an order for 8 skeins of yarn. One of the ones I received had been used - the tag was torn and taped back together. The weight of the skein should have been 100 grams - it was short at 92 grams. When I reached out to customer support. I received NO apology and was told that I 'was welcome' to pay to have it shipped back so they could could send me another. I paid full price and they sent me a used, not full skein! They should have refunded my money or sent me a new one. It would have cost me more to ship it back and how can I be sure it wouldn't be another defective skein? Shame on them. Buyer beware. DO NOT trust that they won't try to pawn off used goods on your online order like they did to me. read more

The yarn selection is great, but online fulfillment is terrible. I used to buy most of my yarn from Jimmy Beans, but the time to receive my orders has gotten slower and slower. I placed an order and received confirmation Dec 1, and now won't receive it until Dec 13. Online service is terrible, sent to PR rather than the states. Contacted them twice, and they canceled one of the contacts so they could use Zendesk. NO ANSWER, NO EXPLANATION. Their phone service only allows messages to be left. Lousy customer service. Still have not received an order placed back on October 16th. They got their new building and all their "new stuff," but they have become one of the worst online retailers. I first found JBW in 2019 and found their staff and selection to be top notch!! I got to hang out in the store for my 2nd time thanks to JBW hosting The Crochet Crowd and friends crochet retreat #crochetstthelake The staff handled 100 of us at once!! Was overwhelmed by the choices, but gosh it's wonderful to be able to get my hands on some of those fibers in person. I order online from them when something catches my eye. Having to pay an outrageous amount for their free shipping because the colors don't match and then having to pay the cost to return the item is not "free shipping ". The location was easy to find, parking was clear and easy, and the shop is massive with lots of different rooms and areas to browse through. WOW. WOW. WOW!!!! This place is amazing! We came here as one of our stops on the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl this weekend. I'd never been here before, but I will be back! It's in an industrial area right by the Reno airport. Lots of parking, easy to find. Since it was a special event, they even let us wander into the warehouse. SO amazing. I've never seen so much yarn in my life. It was wonderful to see and touch it all. About ten people asked to help me! Everyone was cheerful, smiling, and over the top helpful. I'm a newbie and that meant a lot to me. They were so patient with me. They have so many unique yarns and tons of accessories. I love how they have different rooms for different yarn manufacturers. They have every color and style of Namaste bags. That alone is worth the trip. You won't be disappointed. read more

WOW! Let me just start off with how amazed I was. I've ordered on their website multiple times but never knew they had a physical location. I was in Reno for a conference and was so surprised to see they had a physical store, and let me just tell you it's an absolutely magical place. Their selection was phenomenal! They had some of my favorite indie dyers like TealTorchKnits along with La Bien Aimee. It was unbelievable to see the gorgeous colors those dyers make in person! They also had an absolutely KILLER selection of Rowan, Blue Sky Fibers, Malabrigo, Berroco, MadTosh, and HedgeHog Fibers. I love this place! Not only is the selection good but I had the most wonderful time with the staff who shared their beautiful projects with me and we gushed about yarn. I don't knit so when my wife asked me to drop by on a recent business trip, I was not looking forward to the visit. Usually my wife does this sort of stuff on line or goes to a local store nearby. First of all the amount of yarn they have on display is impressive! All sorts yarn made of bamboo to wool to silk not to mention a seemingly unlimited color variety of colors. The best thing about this store are the people, everyone was friendly and welcoming; great customer service for sure!! I told them what I (actually my wife) wanted and not only did they know what I was talking about but got it together for quickly. Also, I was given a quick tour by a very helpful young man, whose name I didn't get but I appreciated very much. I took lots of pics which made my wife jealous but also gave her confidence that her orders are being fulfilled by a company that not only exists but is a huge operation full of people who are as passionate about tools and product for all sorts of knitting projects. If you're in the area visit but be mindful of your bank account because there is a lot of stuff you'll want to walk away with! And that's speaking as someone who doesn't knit!! One point of negativity, it's not easy to get to the front door. You have to enter via the truck docks then drive around to the front area where they have plenty of parking. If you're not a regular it can be disorienting. Especially when your GPS tells you you are there but can't find an entrance to the parking lot. read more

This yarn shop is amazing! If you need it, they have it. And if it's not on the floor, they're likely to have it back in the warehouse. If you need anything for knitting, this is the place to go. One day, I went in looking for 4 hanks in order to have enough yarn for a sweater. I scoured the whole shop and could only find 3 hanks at most. When I asked for help, I laughed at myself because it turned out they had tons of hanks for my project, just not out on the floor. So my review of Jimmy Beans Wool is going to be a combination of their online website and customer service and their brick & mortar local yarn store location in Reno, NV. For most of my time being a Jimmy Beans customer, it has been online, since I live in Hawaii, and Reno is so, so far away. Prices have always been fair, shipping is really great at a set flat rate until you reach free shipping, and it it FAST. Kudos to Jimmy Beans for that, since so many online merchants tack on extra charges for shipping to Hawaii for no good reason that I can see! Jimmy Beans' customer service reps really get that not all of us have access to great yarn in our local areas, and when I've called with weird requests in the past such as "I need blue yarn for a project for my Dad, but he's very picky. Can you send me some samples?", they've been amazingly understanding and accommodating. I've been a loyal online shopper for years, so when I got a couple of days to spend in the Lake Tahoe area, my Mom & I were so excited when my brother offered to take us on a field trip to Reno to the store. As soon as we walked in the door, it was like being in yarn heaven! I could hear the angels singing and everything!! There was even a place to sit down and take photos, which of course, we did! I think this was a pretty new location for the store since their old location had flooded a few months before. Located in a slightly industrial business complex area, it was super empty and parking was abundant! Mom & I were practically the only one in the whole place (several rooms with beautifully displayed yarn--there were lots of choices, but not so stuffed full as to be overwhelming). The displays were so creative and fun, and there were places to sit down and hang out (for my brother, of course, since he had to wait patiently for us). There was even a room full of knitting needles, crochet hooks and other notions where I swear I could hear the choirs of crafting angels singing. I was so amazed and enthralled by the whole store that I had to stop and eat a snack (because we spent so much time there!). The staff couldn't have been kinder--when I told them I needed to step outside to have a snack, the told me that it wasn't a problem to eat in the store (what??!!). They have events in-store with food and drink, and were ok with my snacking while I shopped. I was very careful though, since food & yarn are not a good combination. When my Mom & I were finally ready to complete our shopping, I asked if they would be willing to ship our purchases back to Hawaii for us. We had bought over the minimum for free shipping, and since yarn is a bit bulky and we still have several more trip destinations, it was just easier to have it shipped. It was absolutely no problem for them to ship for us, and we left with just a few treasured purchases, knowing we'd see the rest of our loot when we got home from vacation. I'm not sure how often I'll get back to Reno for in-store shopping, but I'll remember the great experience, and also the consistently great, cheery customer service both online, by phone and in-store. This is THE place to buy quality yarn and knitting supplies in the Truckee Meadows. They have a VERY extensive selection (don't let the "small" size of the shop fool you!). Their prices are in reason but you can find some great deals. If you are online, check out their "Wool Watcher" for some awesome, limited time deals. So googling, checking yelp and phone books are how I find them, but this time we were driving around the area and saw a sign on a warehouse looking building and stopped for a look. It was late afternoon and it was deserted not to mention the warehouse/industrial feel, but I still walked in. Inside was a warm and vibrate space full of color and textures, my kind of place and had a very friendly lady behind the counter. I told her what I was looking for, she had some of the same brand but not the cotton I wanted, so I picked up a few skenes of choice wools and made my purchase. Bad customer service. Took over half a year to complete my order. Which I understand was due to the yarn manufacturers. What I don't understand is not sending me an email for charging me for my yarn months later. Seriously? The email they sent the first time around said they charged the full amount. But apparently they only partially charge. So then I requested they send me emails if they plan to charge my credit card so I know what it's for. It has been more than half a year. But apparently they cannot follow through with a request they accepted. I'm tired of going back and forth with their customer service. In the end they also charged me two extra dollars for my yarn compared to my original receipt. Last straw. Don't care anymore. Will never shop here again. read more
