That raises a bigger issue: if that's the case, why were these recommended in the first place without clearly explaining the expected lifespan? As a customer, I rely on the shop to recommend products that balance performance, safety, and durability, not something that needs replacement in under a year of normal driving. Being told "that's just how OEM tires are" after the fact feels like a sales-first approach rather than customer-first. I've always considered America's Tire my go-to, but this experience has changed that. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

I decided to just replace my two front tires for now and come back in a couple weeks to do the rear ones.
