We used to go to Jimbo's once in a while while we lived in Burgaw area. Breakfast and we had some dinners. We decided to stop by while in Wilmington this past week. Omg how much it's changed. I ordered a chicken sandwich and my husband ordered an omelette with potatoes. Well my chicken had no taste served on old roll the fried were definitely not the fresh fries we always loved they were the bag kind and they seem to have been stored for a while. My husband omelette was just horrible. It's a shame to say when the father of this restaurant which sat at the counter was there, may he rest in peace it was the place to go. Unfortunately we will not return as the horrible food we can do that anymore. Yuck and the waitress was like terrible not attentive at all. I was a waitress for many years I would not serve that meal to anyone. Cooks must know that fresh always gets ppl to come back. Good luck with all the new places in Wilmington this will struggle unless they clean up their act. Don't waste your cash read more

This place has been here for many many years and you can understand why when you eat there. Great food for breakfast and lunch only because they close at 2pm. When we entered, we weren't greeted, so we just sat on our own in one of the booths. But shortly after we were seated, our waitress came over with the menus. The menu had some business card sheet protectors holding the specials of the day. I ordered the short stack (2 slices) French toast with country sausage and a pecan cinnamon roll. My partner ordered the egg (2 eggs) special with hashbrowns, French toast, and a side order of strawberries. Fruit options were either frozen strawberries with sugar added, canned blueberries or bananas. I appreciated the waitress asking if we wanted sugar and cinnamon on our French toast. For the next time, I will ask for that to be on the side since they went a little heavier on the cinnamon then I would've preferred. French toast was good, cooked well. It was about a half inch thick sliced bread. Country sausage was great, loved that it was crispy on the ends. The pecan cinnamon roll was very good, but not your typical cinnamon roll. It's like a crumbly biscuit that needs to be eaten with a fork or spoon. It had tons of pecans throughout and was very sugary. Mm mm! My partner enjoyed his breakfast, it was very filling for him, so he was unable to finish it. The potatoes were sliced thin, soft, and had crispy pieces. I liked that it was plain so you can add whatever seasonings you like. The staff was great in refilling our coffee mugs full with hot coffee. Coffee was good. After we were done eating, we took our notepad ticket they left on our table to the cashier at the front to pay our bill. All in all, great diner food. read more

Finally came in early enough for no line. Anytime I've driven passed there's always a line but the early bird gets the worm...waffle! It's a small, hometown ma and pa restaurant. Looked like a lot of regulars and now I know why there's a line. It's just good, simple diner food. And the staff were super friendly and filled my coffee nonstop. I got the gyro omelette and my husband got the biscuit and gravy special. Both had a lot of food. I'm not eating carbs right now but I definitely want to come back for their bacon waffles....bacon inside, whoa!! And all there lunch options to warm the soul... it's a southern menu! read more

Wonderful establishment. We arrived Sunday morning and it was very busy! There was a line outside the restaurant but once we were seated, it was clear why. Being a breakfast place, we didn't expect much- especially since the prices were reasonable. But this food wasn't your run of the mill, rinky-dink diner food. The portions were large! I got the breakfast special and the bacon was amazing! My French toast was delicious too! My husband ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken was so tender and juicy. The waffle was a hefty size and went so well with the chicken. We ordered a short stack after and it was delicious too. It's a busy place and the wait can seem like it's taking forever but it really delivers food worth waiting for. Not to mention the staff was really nice! My husband has been traveling through Wilmington for years now, but neither of us has stopped at Jimbo's before. After trying the food, and having a short conversation with the founder's son (who also works there), we'll definitely be coming back:) read more

Pass by here all of the time and it is always packed, so, need to check it out and, so I did this morning. Met an old navy buddy (Mike) and we had breakfast, I had Eggs over easy, hash browns, white toast (does not offer English Muffins) and Sausage patties. Mike had Pancakes (3), Ham Steak, Eggs Sunny side, potatoes and biscuit. The service was good, coffee was decent and food was hot and good, very nice and clean but... The only thing is they make you feel rushed to turn over tables, yes it is a diner and yes that's how they make money but.... So 4 Stars. I Will go back. read more

The staff is great and the breakfast was great. My son got a sandwhich that he enjoyed. I got the chicken and gravy which came with eggs and grits. Chicken was crispy and the gravy was a great compliment to it. My wife got the French toast and said it was great. We also got a cinnamon bun for the table and it was massive, fluffy and hot! I did not like the restaurant overall. I had the Greek chicken with Greek potatoes and both were very dry. The fruit salad was from a can with some fresh apple slices and banana slices thrown on top. The place was crowded and it is a good price for people on a budget. Because I didn't like it doesn't mean it's not good as it was crowded. It is just opnion. 1 star is generous. Was told to wait outside for a table and then was forgotten about while 6 people got sat in front of us. After we spoke up we were told there were two spots at a bar which was basically the kitchen counter while there were multiple tables open. Then our waitress was decent but didn't check on us at all. SUCH A GOOD BREAKFAST STOP! We came here after a night out in Wilmington and it was JUST WHAT WE NEEDED. Staff was super friendly - we were seated right away even though it was very busy! Our waitress, Shay, took our orders right away and our food got was here in 5 minutes! She was very attentive and checked on us frequently even with how busy she was! My husband got coffee, a farmers omelet, potatoes, and a half order of busicuts and gravy! I got the country fried steak and gravy, eggs, biscuit , and potatoes. We LOVED it - everything was hot and delicious! We would definitely order the same things again! The restaurant atmosphere gives local mom & pa diner - which are some of our favorites restaurants. Ehh. Servers are kind and attentive. Omelette was good. Don't get the sausage & gravy with your biscuit. They upcharge you 4.95 for the gravy and it honestly wasn't worth it. - especially on a cold biscuit. It's a step up from Waffle House, but nothing more than that. read more
