Went to Jim Ann's a couple weeks ago for the first time ever and I had a blast! Saw a lot of friends there, danced the night away. The service was great. The beer was cold. Went there with some of my girlfriends and I felt like it was a safe place to go and it's very well managed. They also had a really good band there. read more

Nice bar but the 2nd time I went in with my 13 pound 13 year old Esa dog and one of the bar maids told me that the owner wanted us out of there. My dog had here Esa harness on and was in my arms. She told me that people were scared of her. I told them that's definitely discrimination. The regulars were coming up to pet her and even showed me pics of they're dogs. I love small town country bars, and I was actually really surprised when I walked into this one because it's a lot nicer than I expected. They have pool tables, a decent sized dance floor, plenty of tables to sit at--although people do seem to gravitate towards the bar. I've been on a night that they had Karaoke, which was a lot of fun. Another thing that I really like is that you can not smoke inside the bar. Being a non-smoker myself I hate going out for a couple drinks and reeking of cigarettes when I leave. But they do have a designated smoking area outside on their big back patio with corn hole and life sized Jenga to play as well. All of the bartenders and staff are really welcoming and awesome. Love this local hang out! Everyone is always friendly, the beverages are always cold, and the music really sets the tone for a great evening with friends. Jim Ann is super friendly and makes a point to mingle with patrons. She even gets up and sings Karaoke with everyone! read more

After being harassed for not having a shirt with sleeves, only after two of my friends (also wearing sleeveless shirts) entered before me with no issue, I knew my experience was about to be a terrible one. The security/cop at the door even said to us "well, I guess I'll let y'all in but if they don't want to serve you, that's up to them." We were in town for a good friend's birthday and wanted to go out somewhere for a nightcap, and this is the only place we knew of to go to. I've dealt with far worse in my life, so we gave it a shot. We each had a couple drinks and danced for a bit, and then took a seat next to the stage when the band started playing. My friend, Kristian, and I were sitting across from another friend and his wife, just carrying on and socializing as normal people do at a bar. Apparently, it was too obvious we were gay because we were simply having a heart-to-heart and showing too much emotion for the toxic masculinity that Jim Ann's caters to. Let me reiterate this was my FRIEND, one of my best friends in the world. My boyfriend actually went to bed early last night, so he wasn't there (imagine if he had been). There was no PDA, no lewd gestures. Nothing of the sort. The "owner" was clearly waiting for this moment because we were quickly approached by him, and told that "fucking queers" are not welcome in his establishment. He was accompanied by security and we were all thrown out of the bar basically for taking up too much space, even though we were paying customers not causing any problems. I would also like to point out that my friend's wife was told by another employee, "oh it's not you, it's them!, just to make it more clear homophobia and likely racism are standard for them. Needless to say, I will never return here and look forward to more negative reviews of this place. It's 2018, and LGTBQ and POCs shouldn't have to deal with this anymore. read more

Went here last night for a nightcap and to catch up with some friends we hadn't seen in awhile. The owner approached our table after about 30 minutes of us being there, called our friends a homophobic slur mixed with some expletives (literally the first words out of his mouth) and had the security cops escort us out. It shouldn't need to be said, but to be clear, there was no reason for this provocation - we were chatting/catching up at a quiet table in the corner. The owner said he did not want "f ** q **" at his bar. I was told by one of the men who came over with the owner that "oh no, it's not you sweetie, you're fine, it's them" when I pressed him for why this was happening. Completely unacceptable. Shame on this business. read more

Jim Ann? Is that one person? I thought I was from the backwoods, but I am very intrigued by the name of this great bar. The people there are all really friendly, both the staff and the patrons. Mrs. B. easily made some friends while I caught up on old times with some folks I hadn't seen in a long while. Extra Bonus points for the washer-pitching station toward the back of the bar as well as the live band on Saturday night. Urban late-night yelpers beware: Jim Ann's closes at midnight during the week and 1:00 AM on Saturday night, so that might not be quite what you're used to in the big city. Don't dare complain, though, as these folks will wake up early to hunt, fish, golf, and party some more tomorrow! read more

As far as bars go in Lufkin, this is one of your only choices, since it's a semi-dry county. The trick is: Jim Ann's is actually a private club that you join when you first visit. Thus, you're not at a bar, per se, you're in a club. It's a nifty little trick they pull to get around otherwise ridiculous regulations. Great dance floor, and a bank of pool tables. Karaoke on Thursdays. The service was great when we went in, and they'll order Dominos pizza for you (they have no kitchen). read more

Great place! Fun energetic bartenders! Always a smile on their faces. Live bands every Saturday night and a nice size dance floor. It has a really big outdoor area if you like to be outdoors. Patrons are the best, people come and have a great time with friends. Never meet a stranger here, everyone is so very friendly. read more

Its a small lil bar in good ol lufkin but the staff and patrons make it a nice place to go to catch up with friends. Drinks are reasonably priced. Not a huge hopping club with blaring loud music but not too small that you cant blend in and have a few beverages. read more
