Earlier this month I had been out to dinner with friends, was leaving the restaurant and crabbed one of those hard candies at the reservation desk. I bit into it and I immediately felt pain in one of my rear teeth. The next morning I was still in pain so I called for an appointment. Not only was the staff at Uptown Endodontics really professional and nice, they got me in almost immediately. Dr. Peterson evaluated my tooth and thankfullly it appeared that it wasn't a fracture and that my tooth had just been traumatized by how I bit the hard candy. At any rate, no root canal needed either--whew! She suggested a course of NSAIDs and that we give the tooth some time to heal. After about 5 days, the pain had subsided and indeed it was better! The followup visit could not have been easier and now I can chew back on that side without a problem. Last year was not a very good time for my teeth, I had visited this other dentist and they did a crappy job on my root canal after paying a fortune, so needless to say I judged all dentist based upon that one bad experience. OMG!!! I had no idea going to the dentist would be so welcoming! I was referred by my primary dentist as I was having severe pain in my tooth. It turned out that I needed a root canal and the staff were more than prepared even though this was unexpected as I had just received the appointment less than 30 minutes prior to arriving. From the time when I opened the door and was greeted by Nicole at the front desk, throughout my time spent with a marvelous lady named Mara who assisted Dr. Peterson, I felt nothing but ease. Also, although I was being treated like a queen by Mara, several others working there came in to check on me and to offer a blanket in case I was cold. Wow! Who does that? I feel compelled to write a THANK YOU to Dr. Jill Peterson, since my experience was much easier than I had anticipated. In the past, my dentist did my root canal, it took much longer and I had to come back for multiple visits. My new dentist referred me to Dr. Peterson and thank goodness for that. I went for the consultation and she was able to fit me into the schedule that day. She made me feel very comfortable, explaining what she was going to do and why I had the infection that I did. She was very efficient with her time and it was over sooner than I thought. I walked out of that office and have not had a single issue with that tooth since then. Today I had my first root canal and to say I was a nervous wreck would be an understatement. But the staff did really well to keep me calm and talking and laughing which helped. The entire procedure was explained first by Rachael then again by Dr. Peterson. They wanted to make sure I was comfortable with what was going to happen. They numbed me topically then gave me the injections, which was very sweet of them. One thing to know: they do not have gas which kinda freaked me out at first. But I promise you they made for it with their caring and thoughtfulness and I really was put to ease by the time they started the root canal. While performing my root canal, both Dr. Peterson and her assistant assured my comfort by telling me step by step what they were doing and why. They worked well as a team. I had a root canal retreated by Dr. Jill Peterson of Arlington. I was extremely nervous because when I had it done the first time by a general dentist the pain afterward was excruciating. This experience at Uptown Endodontics, was so much better and with very little pain. She was very nice and spent time explaining everything to me during the consultation. She is also detail oriented and gives a personal touch to each patient--I even learned that she was a devout Christian and her and her staff are avid animal lovers, like me! I would recommend Dr. Jill to friends and family, especially if they have anxiety about getting dental work done. If I need work done in the future I won't go to anyone else. I have always feared getting anything done at a dentist outside of a routine cleaning. I had a root canal years ago and I must say it was not a great experience. When my dentist told me I needed one, I didn't make the appointment for months out of fear. Finally, I decided to go ahead as I knew eventually I would experience pain. When I made it to Dr. Petersen's office, everything was wonderful from beginning to end. The staff were great and Dr. Petersen made sure I did not experience unnecessary pain. My grandfather a badly decayed tooth and needed a root canal, my friend Janet who had been to Dr. Peterson office recommended we try her out. This is the best decision we EVER made. Dentist recommended a root canal. Dr Peterson tested his recommendation only to have inconsistencies. Rather than doing a root canal for the sake of doing it she put a validation plan together which will guarantee we are doing the right work.
