At least for me, and I put mine off for a long time. Right up until the tooth broke, at the worst possible time, the beginning of the pandemic. So going to a dentist had me completely freaked out. I ended up canceling 2 appointments for fear of coming in contact with the virus, and the staff was super understanding. So I just returned home from what I thought would be a painful and very expensive experience, since I don't have insurance. Dr. Alsmadi was AMAZING... Truly puts you at ease, has an great technique to administer novicane And my treatment was done in no time at all. Getting a root canal is not high on anyone's list. However, I highly recommend Dr Alsmadi. From the office staff, who were extremely helpful, to the assistant who made me feel comfortable. And the doctor who was completely concerned about my comfort, and was very professional. I was expecting the worst but this was the least painful dental experience I ever had. There was no pain after I left which really surprised me. He took my trepidation about having my jaw opened for 40 min or so and somehow was able to do the work without me having to painfully open my jaw. I needed a root canal done for a tooth abscess but my dentist could see me for over a week. I decided I didn't want to wait that long and so I sought out a specialist in the area and that search lead me to this Mid-cities and Dr Tariq Alsmadi. After reading the good reviews, I decided I'd try to make an appointment with him for sooner. I called, and to my surprise they said they could see me that same day in a couple hours at 12:30 am. They sent me the link to the paperwork online and I filled it out and eagerly went to my appointment. The staff was really sweet and had good customer service and I wasn't waiting long before being lead to the back by the dental assistant. (I really wish I could remember her name because she was the best. Good natural conversation and she was very sweet.) She took the x-rays and then Dr Alsmadi saw me. Turns out I didn't just have the one abscess, I had two, and so he offered to do them both since they were right next to each other, and I agreed. I was a little nervous, I'd never had two done at once, but let me just tell you this was by far the best root canal experience I've ever had. They made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable..an MP3 player on Pandora with headphones, sunglasses, the chair was a massage chair! This is the first time I've ever nearly fallen asleep multiple times while getting a root canal. They make it so you can relax your jaw and don't have to worry constantly about whether or not your mouth is open wide enough. I was simply amazed, I had no idea they could be this comfortable. After the operation I had a little pain, the novacane wearing off, and once it wore off completely it was really terrible pain. Dr Alsmadi provided me with his cell number in case I needed anything, so I called and texted. He promptly called me back and explained that the only reason it would be hurting that bad is the antibiotics I was on from my other dentist weren't working as they should for this particular infection. He asked me for my info and pharmacy number and called me in a prescription for two new antibiotics and some Ibuprofen. I was skeptical, but I did as instructed and started taking them immediately while stopping the other. I woke up this morning and the very tender spot just above my root tip was indeed not hurting nearly as bad, even when I pressed on it. So it seems it's working! Dr Alsmadi does a great job and he and his staff truly care about their patient and their comfort. This was a refreshing experience for me and I'll certainly be going to him for any further endodontic services I might need. read more

The worst Doctor experience ever. I fully explained the problem with my father's molar. I was quested how I knew the information I was giving them? Answering there questions, there voice tone was unsettling. The office visit was not a good experience either. According to them Dad needed a root canal and a MUST have crown. Best part they Don't do crowns. Yes they have a referral for the crown work LOCATED Across Town (Arlington). Dad who has a no copay or out of pocket cost up to 1500 is billed $145. At time of visit for x-rays they know are not covered by his insurance. Yet when we discussed his insurance they Verified at time of appointment and talked about there 3D X-rays, offering much better imaging. There was no mention of Any cost to the patient or even possible cost. So for a office visit that included top state of the art X-rays not covered by the insurance AND procedures that the insurance considered of No Benefit and limited in evaluation, my 83 year old father walks out of the office with a CD copy of X-rays which no other Dentist (at least I couldn't find one) willing to use for crown work. FINAL Charge was $591.00 USD. office visit they couldn't/wouldn't?? Preform according to them BECAUSE they only do half the work in there office. Unless you go to There recommended dentist (couldn't find a in network) who would do a Crown based of the 3D x-ray they give out. $591(billed to insurance)+$145(billed to Dad) for a Grand a grand total of $736. LESSON learned, I had no trouble getting estimate cost from other Dentist. Who did complete all work needed in same office same day first visit. Yes Dad did have charges not covered by insurance BUT this time we knew Before the Appointment was even made. read more

I have horrible anxiety when i have to have dental work done! But now i have to say, "wow & amazing!" SO gentle, reassuring, minimal stress and pain while administering numbing injections. They gave me warm blankets, noise-cancelling headphones with soothing classical music... No, i didn't fall asleep, and NO i don't EVER want another root canal, but this was a GREAT experience! read more

I can not say enough great things about Dr. Alsmadi technique! I did not even tear up, I always cry, when I get the local anesthetic injection. His staff is very courteous, helpful and professional. I was in pain & they were able to get me right in and re-treat a root canal gone bad. I'm sure I'll need another root canal in the future, I know now, that with the way Dr. Alsmadi injects the local anesthetic I will not worry. read more

I had root canals done years ago and begin to have pain in my teeth. The pain was keeping me up at night. I was referred to Dr. Tariq Alsmadi for treatment and he informed me that the root canals needed to be re treated. This was the best experience ever. I am always afraid of the dentist. I actually went to sleep in the chair while he was repairing my teeth. This was approximately 6 months ago. I have no pain. My mouth feels great. I needed a root canal because my dentist did not do root canals which involved crowns. I searched for an endodontist near me and chose Dr.Tariq Alsmasdi because of the excellent reviews about him on his website. Boy am I glad I chose him! The root canal was done with no pain or discomfort. Smooth jazz in my ear, comforting words from Dr. Alsmadi and his assistant and an hour that passed very quickly. He told me I could take suggested pain relievers if necessary, but there was no need for anything at all beside my prescribed antibiotic and it has now been 3 days. I have been pain free! If you have a need for an endodontist I highly recommend Dr. Tariq Almasdi. He is an endodontist who instructs dentists. You cannot lose!! read more

If your dentist has told you that you need a root canal, I highly recommend Dr. Alsmadi with Mid Cities Endondontists in Arlington. I have never had one and let me tell you, though I have nothing to compare it to and though I have heard horror stories, this was truly the very best experience I have ever had in a dentist chair, bar none!! Dr. Alsmadi is very warm, friendly and welcoming, as well as his staff. He encouraged me during the procedure by letting me know I was doing great and he and his assistant kept checking with me to make sure I was alright. I never felt pain from the shots, never felt the drill, nothing! At the beginning of the procedure, he could tell I was getting tense and reached down and turned on the "massage", yes, the dentist chair even has massage which I could instantly feel myself relaxing! That helped SO much! His assistant put sunglasses on me and they even provided headphones and Spotify which was also a huge help!! He is definitely good at what he does and I found him to be very knowledgable. I wish he could be my regular dentist! I highly recommend Dr. Alsmadi for any densitry issues you need to have done by a specialist! He is excellent at what he does and even provides his cell phone number incase you experience any issues. I can't say enough about the good experience I just had with Dr. Alsmadi. I'm one who is usually quite scared to go to the dentist but my recent experience at having a root canal went so smoothly that it truly calms my fears for any future work I may need to have done.
