As an older adult, I'm not the typical orthodontic patient. As a preteen, many years ago I had teeth extracted & wore braces like many of my friends. My lower teeth in particular had long ago gone back to looking crowded again & I just accepted it. Fast forward to about a year ago. I had over time, developed a significant gap between my top & bottom teeth on the left side of my mouth forcing me to exclusively chew on just a couple of teeth on the right. I thought that I might be developing sleep apnea, although I wasn't snoring. I realized that what was happening was that my two top front teeth were pushing forward & causing my mouth to open at night! I also was suffering with TMJ type pain, but wasn't sure if that was related. I first brought this to the attention of my regular dentist who suggested to me that he could file down the teeth on the right side so that my bite would be evened out ( really....that's crazy!). I found, through Yelp, Dr Bruno & her team. I'm wrapping up my care plan after using Invisalign for about a year. I'm back to chewing normally, my mouth isn't opening up at night, the pain is gone & my smile looks better than it has in decades; I'm thrilled! Two of my children both had YEARS of orthodontia with not great results. In fact, looking at their smiles before and after treatment - their smiles were better beforehand. I brought my third child, and she recommended a treatment plan - which it turns out he did not need at all. I took him for consultation with 2 other orthodontists who said he did not need any orthodontia. I'm really disheartened that I put my older kids through treatment with her. I went to see Dr. Bruno after my sister went here to get her teeth fixed after bad experience with dentist that ruined her perfectly straight teeth. Dr. Bruno was able to help my sister and so I decided to do a consultation with Dr. Bruno -- this would have been my 3rd consultant with an orthodontist for my teeth. Dr. Bruno was the only one to suggested that I could get a healthier smile and straighten my teeth without teeth removal, pushing back my teeth or oral surgery (I had a very noticeable underbite). I am almost done with my treatment and it is the best money I have ever spent. My teeth and actual bite are 100% better than before and my underbite is barely noticeable now. I can't be happier with the results even though I am not to my final results yet. I actually live out of state and make the 1000+ mile trip to Dr. Bruno's office a few times a year to see her in office. Her treatment for me is worth every penny and all the miles. I do not recommend. Dr. Bruno recommended a very expensive treatment plan, which she guaranteed could continue until it worked and I was satisfied. It didn't work after some time, and Dr. Bruno insisted that we stop rather than continue. Many of my visits, including the important final visit, were led only by techs--Dr. Bruno wasn't there. Jill and her team are fantastic and I would highly recommend them to anyone. We have had 3 children as patients of Dr Bruno and all receive compliments on their "perfect smile". Dr Bruno are highly competent and have great manner with the kids, they make the process as comfortable as possible. The office staff is also great, and special shout out to Irene who assists with the insurance paperwork - she helped us and I was able to get the insurance to cover a portion of the expenses without any fighting with the insurance company - that alone is a miracle. I wasn't happy with my current orthodontic work and came here for a consult. It ran $95, but man, it's worth it when you've paid $$ for braces in the first place. After my visit I was sorry I didn't discover this place earlier. My teeth would have been straight, braces off a long time ago... office and staff: The office is bright, airy, clean and new. The rooms are the opposite of the typical confined and stuffy dental/orthodontic rooms I've encountered in the past...in fact, they seem a bit on the huge side, but I think that's partially the expansive windows and layout plan. Good vibes. My consult room actually had a view of the city. The staff were more than courteous--they were downright pleasant. The consult and Dr. Jill Bruno: Somebody mentioned thorough consult--this included an efficient picture taking session by a competent assistant and a thorough explanation by Dr. Bruno as to what brackets she uses, etc...I would, unfortunately, have to start over because she does self litigating brackets without bands (something I don't have). BUT with my high gloss 8X10 that included 8 pics of my bite and teeth from all angles, she explained exactly what my current orthodontist could do to straighten out the part she initially insisted on filing (to make it 'appear' straighter). Essentially, Dr. Bruno gave me the tools I needed to solve my problem. She never tried to sell me on anything but was upfront, honest and friendly. My 30-year old fiancée just finished a year's worth of braces with Dr. Bruno. He had a terrific experience and now has a beautiful smile! Here's what he has to say: Dr. Bruno and her staff are amazingly caring, and have the wonderful ability to make you feel like you're the most important patient to them. I couldn't be happier with my treatment, my experience, and my results. The same goes for her superb and always cheery staff -- in particular, Jamie, Monica, and Gisbelt. I was referred to Dr. Bruno by my periodontist after being diagnosed with some bite/jaw issues. When I first visited Dr. Bruno, she confirmed that those issues likely required braces and jaw surgery, and suggested I reach out to a maxillofacial surgeon for additional insight. Dr. Bruno was confident with her evaluation, but encouraged me to seek out additional opinions; she never pushed her diagnosis on me, and completely understood that this was not a decision to be made lightly, nor one to be made without research. Dr. Bruno provided me with contact information for several highly-regarded surgeons, one of whom I ultimately chose for orthognathic/double-jaw surgery. I then received braces from Dr. Bruno 6 months prior to surgery. In consultation with my surgeon and my periodontist, Dr. Bruno worked hard to ensure my teeth were in optimal position prior to the surgery. Dr. Bruno regularly coordinated with my medical team to make sure everything was perfect before surgery. She had to precisely time certain teeth movements and placement of wires with my surgical plan; this was no easy undertaking, and required intense coordination with my surgeon outside of Dr. Bruno's normal day-to-day duties. Furthermore, she always made sure I was completely comfortable with how treatment was proceeding, and - along with her wonderful staff - was fantastic throughout it all. I especially appreciated that she always erred on the side of caution to make sure nothing was amiss and that my surgeon and I were happy with how my treatment was progressing. My surgeon was very pleased with the results prior to surgery, which was flawless thanks in large part to Dr. Bruno's legwork. As I was recovering at home in the days after surgery, Dr. Bruno regularly called to check in on me, and - even though she had not performed the surgery - she made sure I knew that I could call or e-mail her directly with any concerns. I can't emphasize how much that meant to me, and how much it aided my recovery to relax and know she was in my corner. After surgery, the braces remained on for another 7 months to bring everything into perfect alignment. I was quite glad that Dr. Bruno did not give in to my grilling about when the braces would come off, but that she instead was realistic and gave me the tough love to stick with the gameplan of waiting until my teeth were perfect. As I was all too ready for braces to come off right after surgery, I'm thrilled I waited for Dr. Bruno to give me the thumbs-up. I now have an incredible smile, beyond what I (or my fiancée) ever could have expected. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't offer a couple thoughts in response to - in my strong opinion - a seriously unwarranted negative Yelp review of Dr. Bruno. First, Dr. Bruno and her staff were incredibly flexible in their office hours for me, and always strived to schedule appointments for me that worked around my work schedule. Sure, some days I needed to miss a few hours of work and take sick leave from my job in order to make an appointment, but that's life. And, to the credit of Dr. Bruno and her staff, they're in high-demand! Seriously though, they were great and always tried to bend over backwards to accommodate my schedule. As well, it would've been sorely unfair (to say the least) to expect them to base their entire work and personal schedules around my demands! More importantly, Dr. Bruno and her staff never hesitated to squeeze me in for an unscheduled appointment when I was having issues with my wires, or a loose bracket, or when I was worried something was wrong in the days after surgery (everything was fine, of course). They never made me feel guilty, or like I had screwed up, but always greeted me with a smile and found time for me in the middle of their busy day. Second, as an adult (and one of Dr. Bruno's many adult patients) who had to go through the glory of having braces a second time, I found one way to avoid any sort of "social embarrassment of braces" was simply to surround myself with good people. Sure, having braces as an adult was far from ideal, but 21st-century medicine is amazing and I'm thankful I was referred to Dr. Bruno and had her at the forefront of my medical team. And from an amazing fiancée, to a supportive family, to hilarious friends, to an understanding boss and colleagues, I avoided any stigma associated with braces by just being around quality people who cared about and were rooting for me. But that's just a thought. read more

I am a medical doctor who does not do reviews of health-care professionals, but I am making an exception in this case, after reading a couple of negative reviews here, to describe my experience simply as the parent of a child with a number of complex dental problems. By the time my youngest daughter was 5 y.o. --shortly after panoramic x-rays showed a severe overcrowding of upper and lower teeth-- I noticed she had a non-trivial malocclusion. This is a combination of problems requiring not-too-delayed palate expansion and subsquent teeth realignment, processes that take years of treatment. Discussing with friends with kids and her dentist about local orthodontists, the name Jill Bruno kept coming up. We went to see her when my child was about to begin 1st grade. Dr Jill Bruno discussed the issues and answered all my questions. More importantly, she took the time to explain the problem to my daughter and why it had to be corrected, making sure that she clearly understood the steps of the process. I liked that Dr Bruno was discreetly evaluating in a broad manner the child's personality and potential treatment compliance -- that is a sign of an experienced health-care professional, and an utterly important attitude in dealing with children undergoing rather long treatments whose success is also contingent on the child's cooperation and intent. I was concerned that a palate-expansion process, which takes a long time, is inherently uncomfortable and likely painful, since this could impact quality of life and school performance. Dr. Bruno assured me it could be done without too much discomfort. But she was wrong. The process was totally painless, and with only very mild and occasional discomfort, thanks to her professional ability, the optimal care from her friendly and well-trained dental assistants, and my daughter's great positive attitude. As expected, the expansion had to be followed by a realignment of the teeth, and this became complicated by a very slow and late eruption of permanent teeth due to an over-retained primary dentition (!). After a conservative wait period of no improvement, we discussed the options with Dr Bruno and it was decided to request my child's dentist to remove some selected primary teeth, which she agreed to do. The removal of the teeth, a decision not to be taken lightly, was generally effective; it allowed months later to get ready for the re-alignment. After evaluating options on my own, without pressure or suggestions from Dr Bruno, I decided that clear aligners, instead of braces, would be the best method for a preteen who had undergone non-trivial dental interventions. She is now very happy and comfortable with the aligners, which are doing an good job so far. But for the ultra-obsessive appointments-reminder service that she uses (whose compulsive duplication of emails and repetitive texts of upcoming appointments ought to be added to the DSM-5), I couldn't be happier with the care that Dr Bruno and her assistants have provided in a well designed and child friendly, large office. She carefully managed to achieved solid results in a more complex than run-of-the-mill dental case. Jill Bruno, DMD, is a wonderful orthodontist. read more

The place is a bit of a factory . They move you through largely with a bunch of techs doing the work and don't stick with the timelines originally discussed, not do they explain why they are changing treatment plans when they change them. My 15 year old kid finally got his braces off after a couple of cycles and several years...and they glued a couple of wires behind his teeth and said they should stay there until he is 30. What the fuck is that? One of the damn wires came off after a couple of weeks. Not impressed read more

I've been seeing Dr. Bruno for over three years and I have always been pleased with her care. I had a slight overbite and my teeth were pretty crooked, but after I had braces for approximately 14 months, all of the problems were corrected. While she may bill you more than other orthodontists would, I think it's definitely worth it because the level of attention and care you get from her and the other workers is amazing. When I had my braces, I would sometimes lose a bracket or have part of the wire poke me continuously in my mouth. All I had to do was call the office and they could usually fit me in in the next 24 hours. Two weeks after I had gotten my braces off and gotten my permanent bottom retainer out in, I bit into an apple and felt part of my retainer become detached. I quickly texted the number on the website and one of the orthodontists/workers walked me through what to do. read more

I am extremely disappointed. Dr Bruno is patronizing and completely disregarded my request for the specifications of my retainer. I was also informed of other options that I had to getting the retainer after I had ALREADY PAID 1000$ to get one fitted. She also told me I needed braces again, big shocker that it was another year of ridiculously expensive braces that were "totally necessary"! Naturally I passed up the scam and I will not be returning to Dr Bruno. read more

Jill and her staff are always friendly, professional, and eager to make your visit a pleasant one. We have a couple of patients in our family (child AND adult!) and recommend Jill highly. She gives a thorough consultation and offers several options. When problems arise like a broken bracket or loose wire, her staff is quick to get you in to fix it. My children especially enjoy the ongoing promotions that make visits fun -- the candy buy-back at Halloween, a water bottle giveaway in the summer, and the annual ice skating party is always a huge hit. Not only is Jill fun and wonderful to work with, she is very skilled at her practice; we have the beautiful smiles to prove it! I couldn't recommend her more highly! read more

What a FANTASTIC orthodontic practice! My daughters were very worried about the visit initially but once we arrived and were met by the delighful Gisbelt, the patient navigator, they didn't want to leave! The office is clean, efficient and exremely professional. You don't see this level of customer service in health care anymore. Dr. Bruno was very friendly and focused. Although we were there for my daughter's care, I will be returning to have Dr. Bruno work on my teeth! Every medical practice should learn from Dr. Bruno's operation. Dr. Bruno and her staff are nice. However, I have two major qualms with the practice. First, the office hours are ridiculously inflexible for her patients - who are all KIDS - and mainly teenagers. Um - they're in school during the day! While she has 7:30 am appointments a couple of days, and office hours until 5 a few others, that doesn't work for teenagers, who have classes (that they can't miss) starting at 8 and sports (that they also can't miss) afterwards. Also - they have seemingly random rules about what kinds of appointments can be scheduled on certain days. Finally, she has too many patients - so that the "prime" spots (early mornings and late afternoons) are all snapped up quickly. All of this wouldn't be a huge issue if she was, say, an orthopedic surgeon and you were only coming once. But patients have to come again and again for several years - and I am incredibly frustrated with how difficult it is to schedule appointments - and how much it takes out of me (leaving work during the day to schlep my child to the office) and my child (missing school, having to reschedule tests, making his coaches angry, etc.). She should have at least one day/week that she is open until 7 or 8 pm (and could start later on that day). Second, she has kids wear braces twice: once when their teeth are coming in to form the bite/palate correctly, and then again when all the permanent teeth are in. I went along with it - and now we have paid for braces TWICE (to the tune of more than $7,000) and my poor child has had braces for more than 5 years. That is just RIDICULOUS. If you choose to see Dr. Bruno (or any other orthodontist), don't fall for this. Have your child get braces ONCE - for perhaps 3 years total - and save yourself $3500 and you and your child two extra years of frustration with appointments and social embarrassment of braces. It worked when we all had braces in the 1980s and it works now - as evidenced by my friend's children who see other orthodontists. read more

Dr. Bruno and her assistants are THE BEST! I was an adult patient and a very difficult case because I had lost my bite. But Dr. Bruno worked hard until the job was done even though the time it took exceeded the time of the my contract. Dr. Bruno is EXTREMELY pleasant while being VERY professional. She very clearly knows what she is doing. Her office is the best I have ever been in---so inviting and fun-loving with ever-changing creative decorations. I loved it. I watched her work with children, and she is great with them as well. The office will readily accommodate emergency appointments. I VERY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Bruno for both children and adults. Dr. Bruno and her team are naturals at making the experience of having something not so pleasant feel ok. My son just wrapped up his 2 yr journey with braces, and is now in the follow-up phase with retainers. It has been such a seamless experience to date. He hasn't always been the easiest patient - nervous and tearful at times, but Dr. Bruno's Assistants are amazingly patient and kind, and have always tended to his physical and emotional needs - especially Estela:) Dr. Bruno was the most expensive of all the providers I considered for my son's care but I tell you, her practice is thorough, and like anything else, you get what you pay for! She always explains what she is about to do, and invites me in to see what she's looking at, and is responsive to my inquisitive style. There was some minor degree of coordination with other providers (dentist, speech therapist) which could be improved. The ambiance - lots of natural light, and bright colors also add cheer to the environment. Even if you have to wait to be seen, somehow you don't mind because of the pleasant surroundings. I consulted Dr. Bruno as an adult after I noticed that my teeth were shifting and my bite was changing. She listened to my concerns and proposed several approaches to address the problem; from conservative to more aggressive. I truly appreciated her suggestion that I try a mouth guard to hold the teeth in their current position before considering full braces as an adult. The entire experience was very positive. The office is beautiful, very state of the art. The staff is pleasant, considerate and attentive, very engaged in making sure the patients are comfortable and feel well cared for. Dr. Bruno is decisive and took the time to explain my different treatment options. She truly cares about her patients and it shows. The children loved the monthly contest and the Mom's loved the cook books that were in the waiting area. Overall great experience. I would highly recommend this office. read more

I am an adult patient of Dr. Bruno and I have to thank my husband for referring me to her and her wonderful team of health professionals! I am a health care professional myself, was a patient experience department liaison in a reputable hospital at one point, so I am totally familiar with supporting improvements in customer services and quality of care rendered to patients. One thing comes to my mind whenever I am at her office-- 'I am cared for!' I still have a year and a half to go before she removes my braces but I feel like I have been her patient for years and years because of the warmth she and her staff has shown me. They work with your schedule, squeeze you in when there are unexpected orthodontic problems that needs to be addressed. She and her staff explain the treatment plan clearly and she really communicates with my dentist and periodontist so that all of us are on the same page. I'm writing this review as both a former adult patient and the parent of two current teenaged patients of Dr. Bruno. I also grew up with a parent who is a dentist so I've spent an inordinate amount of time in a dental milieu. Dr. Bruno's practice is impressively run like a well-oiled machine, and yet she and her staff manage to personalize the experience for all of their patients in a warm, cheerful, reassuring manner. I could not be happier with the results of my own orthodontic treatment. (I had braces as a teen but neglected ever to wear my retainer afterwards - note to readers: If the ortho makes a retainer for you, WEAR IT! or you'll need braces again to correct your drifting bite.) My two teenagers' treatment is chugging along and they appreciate Dr. Bruno's sense of humor and talent for explaining the treatment to them in accessible language (rather than talking down to them or over their heads). She is a genuine "people person" as well as a skilled professional. As far as the office atmosphere - This is the only office I've ever frequented that consistently plays such good music in the background that my teens frequently use the Shazam app on their phones to get info on a song that they're enjoying. How cool is that? So overall, to wind up this review, I've given Dr. Bruno and her staff full marks for skill and style. read more

My son saw Dr. Bruno over a period of 18 months and got his braces off last month. He had only one set of braces. My son is what I would consider a somewhat difficult patient. He has special needs and, although he has a very loving personality, he has a great deal of anxiety with any type of procedure. We have these issues with his pediatric dentist and we also saw them with Dr. Bruno and her staff. They were wonderful with him. Dr. Bruno took as much time as necessary to calm his fears before taking any action. She also adjusted her plans to fit the situation and tried having different staff members work with him until she found the perfect fit. He got to know and love all of the staff members, who were extremely kind and patient with him. Monica was especially wonderful with him and ended up working with him over three appointments until we were able to find retainers that would work for his particular needs. With regard to scheduling, the staff went out of their way to find appointments that worked for our schedule. The bottom line is that my son ended up with beautiful teeth, Dr. Bruno and her staff were very responsive to all of my concerns during the process, the amount charged was comparable to the amount charged by the orthodontist that I saw for my adult braces, and my son had such a good time that he continues to ask when he can go back for a visit. read more

Dr. Bruno and her staff are unbelievably great. First of all, they are competent and caring and experts in their field. Instead of selling us the most expensive plan, Dr. Bruno explained our options and recommended the best plan for our daughter, which was also the most conservative and it has turned out great. I can say this because we went to 2 other "top" orthodontist groups before finding Jill! Also, the office is super clean and the staff know what they are doing which is so important in this type of practice. Finally, my daughter is a teenager and they took the time to treat her like a young adult and involve her in the care and the planning. This was also excellent and made her very invested in the outcome. Finally, when you call they are always to eager to answer your questions and to help you. It is clear that the entire team cares about their patients and that they love their work! read more
