This was our last stop of a weekend of wineries. This little gem is in a nicely redone cow barn. Their wines are delicious and the young lady taking care of us was very helpful and friendly. I hosted my mom's retirement brunch at Jilbert and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. David was so easy to work with and very accommodating. He recommended Blue Ribbon Catering, which I ended up using and was very happy with. The loft area was beautiful as is and fit our 50 guests wonderfully. OMG!!!! We had our bridal shower here and they were amazing!!! The way they handle their events is like no other. The wines are AMAZING and well priced (12.50-14.50 per bottle). The event barn was spacious and AGAIN one of the most well-priced spaces we found. It holds up to 72 I believe and we had 40 and sooo much room for all!!! My parents live down the road from Jilbert Winery. We have been there a few times for wine tasting and just to sit on the patio. The wine is ok, it's affordable and they have something for everyone. We were there about a month ago and it was quite crowded so we asked the waitress if she thought we should make a reservation when we come in next time for wine. She said absolutely and we took that advice to heart. Last Friday we had planned a girls night out and what better place to go than a winery that is close to home on a beautiful summer night. So, like our waitress told us, we called and made reservations. When I called, I told the gentleman that answered that we would be in around 8 and would have 6 people. That is all he asked and all I told him. When we arrived, a bit after 8, we were met by a woman with a clip board looking very official and bit snooty. This is a BARN, people...not a 5 star restaurant. That being said, we told her we were there and they were getting a table ready for us. (No need for a reservation since there was only one other party there and the whole patio was open). So our group went inside to try some wine. A few of us had been there before and liked it, so we offered some suggestions to the members of our group who hadn't been there and talked to the man pouring. He asked us if we were eating dinner and we said no, only wine. He said "Oh good, because we are running out of food. It was really busy earlier". Once we had all chosen a wine, we went back out into the hallway where the clip board lady was standing at her post. She took us outside, sat us at the table and told us our waitress would be out shortly. At that point we settled in for a fun evening. Coco, our very sweet waitress (and the only reason I give this review 2 stars instead of 1) asked for our order and we politely told her that we were not eating but would have a cheese plate to share. She smiled, took the order and left. Not three minutes later, the walking clip board came in with a look on her face like a headmistress who had caught her students smoking behind the school and said very bluntly and rudely, "You aren't eating?" All of us were a bit taken aback by her attitude, and looked at each other... "No, we already ate. Just wine tonight." Here is how the rest of the conversation went... "If you make a reservation, it is expected that you are going to eat. We have food that will now go to waster because you aren't eating. We only order food if we know people are going to eat it and now we bought that food for nothing" Now that we were getting scolded for not following this dictators rules, I got a bit perturbed. After all, I was the one who made the reservation. "I was not told that when I made the reservation. We were told to make a reservation, and we did. We were asked how many were coming, and I told him. We were asked at what time we would be there, I gave him a time. Never was I asked if we were eating." At that point my mother got into the conversation and she and the clip board dictator went back and forth for minute. Finally, the dictator backed down and left. (My mother is a formidable opponent) Coco came back, apologized for who I assume is her boss, and was extremely wonderful the rest of the evening. We finished up what we ordered and left, vowing to never return. The most ridiculous part of this is that we were scolded by the clip board dictator because they apparently had food ready for us yet they have several choices on the menu. What if all 6 of us wanted the same thing? Do they order 6 of everything just in case? Of course they don't. That would be insane, just like the clip board dictator. We were planning to have a baby shower at the winery, and now, will no longer be giving them our business. My suggestion Mr. Jilbert? Having the clip board dictator is a wonderful way to lose business. read more

My husband and I just got married at Jilbert Winery this past weekend. We had an outdoor ceremony in the back and our reception in the barn. Both settings were beautiful! We had received compliments on the barn where we held the reception. It was the perfect size for our small wedding (approximately 80 people). Dave was so accommodating, kind, and knowledgable about both his wine and beer products. We also received multiple comments on the taste of the craft beer and wine slushies (my favorite!) The food was AMAZING! And the caterer, Melissa from Blue Ribbon Catering out of Norwalk, was so accommodating to us as well and willing to work with us to make sure we had exactly what we wanted for our menu selections on the big day. Overall, the venue was beautiful. The ambiance in the barn was breathtaking and our guest thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We did wish that the dance floor was a little larger but we do understand that it is a restructured barn and that for the safety of all, the space was limited. We are so happy that we choose to celebrate with our friends and family at Jilbert Winery on our wedding day! read more

I have been to Jilbert Winery multiple times and I absolutely love the wine! There is something for everyone (whites, reds, dry, sweet, etc.). After visiting the winery a few times, I decided to have my bridal shower in their gorgeous, rustic barn. So my family hosted my wedding shower for me and my wife in their upstairs room of their barn. I loved it. They were very accommodating, allowing my family to bring our own food in. All the wine was provided by the winery. Before the festivities started each table took turns doing some wine tastings at their tasting bar and picked out a couple bottles for their table. For the person who gave their wine bad reviews, I think they are probably just trying to be snooty or didn't try very many of their wines. While I didn't enjoy them all I did find a couple varieties I really enjoyed and took a bottle home with me. If I was hosting a similar party in the future I will definitely keep them in mind. We visited this today spur of the moment...we enjoy visiting wineries and had not visited this one. It is about an hour from our home. The man (maybe the owner) was friendly, even funny. Unfortunately, none of the wines were great. I like more body in my wines and that just was not there. My husband tried the 3 beers...again, nothing outstanding. I love checking out local wineries so when I was booked to officiate a wedding at Jilbert, I was thrilled! We had a lovely ceremony outdoors and the upstairs area which can be reached through a walkway as well (no worries for handicapped folks!) is absolutely gorgeous and has a lovely rustic feel. I think they had about 75 guests. I enjoyed a few glasses of wine while I was there and went home with 4 bottles, 3 of which were the Honey wine! Yum! The bottles and glasses were both reasonably priced too! I have recommended it a number of times already! read more

I love the honey wine there. They have great wines, but when you think of a winery you dont think of plastic chairs or plastic picnic tables. They need to take some time to upgrade their tables and chairs. I feel like they cheap out on that aspect. They need to visit some other wineries to get ideas of decorating. That place has so much potential of being a cute place. Maybe evern have servers come to the table instead of you going up to the bar. They also need more food on the menu . When we got our cheese plate, we got napkins. No plates,just napkins. I think we need to take more pride in our business. read more

Jilberty winnery is an awesome place from dinners, receptions, weddings u name it they can do it if you ask. Nice thing is you can sample the wine before making a deccision to have for dinner. My personal favorite is the Honey mead wine to be able to sample and try this wine you must be 18 or legal drinking age and parent supervisor but don't worry kids they also sell can soda for a dollar to drink with dinner or your meal. We had our daughter and now son-in-law's wedding this past weekend at Jilbert and I'm giving Jilbert 5 stars! The ceremony was outside in front of the beautiful rustic barn and the venue couldn't have been more beautiful for the 'garden-style' small wedding that they envisioned! Dave, the owner, was very helpful from the first day we visited and started planning. Barb, the Chef, took over closer to the wedding day, and continued with excellent relationship and conversation re: our menu and details for the day. They are very accessible and flexible and strive to bring a family and relaxed atmosphere. The food was plentiful and delicious, served by the Chef !! Even packed up the left overs for us to take home! We had an hors d'oeuvre hour immediately following the ceremony with 500 pieces of tasty treats at a very reasonable cost and free wine tasting for our guests to choose their favorite wine. There are a range of wines for everyone from sweet to dry and the best part is, they are made with love and care from Jilbert's lovingly tendered vineyard. The heart of Jilbert Winery comes through their wine. Wine is a very subjective taste. Jilbert makes a delicious light and fruity wine and does not put on any airs or apologies for their brand. They are delicious for this palate ! We then went up to the beautifully restored barn for our buffet, sit down dinner. The tables were beautifully set with white linens and black napkins,( which happen to match our color theme), silver, glassware... all the trimmings that make an elegant setting. We were encouraged to freely add any of our own decorations to the room. We did and it was perfect. The cost per person for salad, 2 entrees, 2 sides, dessert,, rolls and beverages was impressive... complete with table-side service, we could not have come close to the price renting and catering al a carte... I can't stop thinking about the wedding day ; perfect, simple and yet elegant. Our guests raved about every part. The venue, the food and the wine. If you are looking for a rustic, relaxed family - style, with touches of elegance venue for your wedding, I highly recommend Jilbert. They truly work hard to make the day flow without stress. Communication and attitude are gracious and helpful. New to the wedding 'game', they know who they are and bring their heart to the event. Thank you Jilbert for a beautiful day! A great atmosphere, outstanding food, and very unique wine make this an excellent choice for a night out. We have always been treated well by the staff, and felt more than welcome by the Owners. I think it is important to understand where you are, though. They specialize in Ohio-based Honey Wine, so if you are used to $100 bottles of Sonoma County grapes, then you will be disappointed, and leave laughable reviews like some I read below. On Sat I had my wedding reception at the winery. We met with the owner in February and started planning and everything seemed wonderful. He explained to us that we be served wine and that he was getting his license and would also have craft beer available for the wedding. Me, not being a wine drinker went ahead and booked our venue due to the promise of beer and wine. Now we arrive to The 24th of October. We arrive from the ceremony and everything looks great. The barn is beautiful and everything was decorated perfect. As I get in and get settled and talk to our guests I ask how the cocktail hour was and the cheese and cracker tray and other appetizers me and the Mrs. decided on. I got various replies that the crackers on the cheese tray was stale. For $90.00, I expect everything to be fresh and not stale. I was very embarrassed by this but everybody was having a blast and we kept the night going. Slightly later, I was approached by some of my family and they asked if there was beer available. I said yes you should be able to get it at the bar. They said that the guy at the bar said wine only and was rude about it. I began hearing this from others as well and decided to go talk to him. When I approached him about this he was very smug and said that his license was 120 days out and had some setbacks so it was wine only. Well this made me not happy, first off because there wasn't any communication about this. Secondly, if I knew it was wine only I would have chosen a different location for the reception. We argued and ultimately there was nothing to be done about it. After the reception, I talked to the owner about the bill and brought up the promise of beer that he never provided on. At first he told me he never said there would be beer and I called him out on it. I was smart enough to get him to send a text that did state that we did discuss him having beer and apologized for not producing. Okay but still, I would have chose a location with beer and there was no communication about his license getting put back. On top of all of this, majority of those in our families that are wine drinkers, later told me that the wine wasn't good at all and wasn't pleasurable to drink. So I got screwed on the promise of beer and then my guests get bad wine on top of it. Overall, I gave two stars because the barn was beautiful and my guests said the food was good minus the stale crackers. The beer lie really did upset me and my wife and if we could choose again would have chosen a different location. I hope this may help some of you that may be thinking of having a reception there. read more

We have been going to Jilbert's for a number of years. We started when they had the tasting room and the outdoor patio. Then they opened up their room upstairs. BEAUTIFUL! Rustic, lovely and plenty of room. My husband had a surprise retirement party for me up there and everyone loved it!!! The atmosphere, the wines, the food and the staff. We enjoy all the wines. Everyone has different tastes, but you should be able to find something to appeal to your pallet. The food is excellent. Whether a casual meal or a dinner, always delicious. Food is prepared by Barb, who is so inventive and creative, and her great staff. Dave, Lisa, Barb, Hannah...everyone there is always so pleasant and takes good care of you. The owners...Dave and Lisa...will come around to the tables and say Hello to you, if they have a free moment, as they are hard workers and busy. We have gone there with many friends and family and it is liked by all!! A great place to go by yourselves or joined by friends, for a great glass of wine or a delicious meal. I've been here a few times for wine. Nice, laid back atmosphere. We decided to have an event here for 50 people. You pay to get the room, tables and linens. Everything else you provide yourself. Seeing as how pretty much the only thing the venue had to do was put table cloths out for us I was disappointed that the linens were all wrinkled. They looked like they had been stored all balled up then placed on the tables. When we told the owner he replied "well, they're cotton they get wrinkly" ummm, what?!! On top of that several had stains and water marks. I literally had my husband bring up our own steamer so I could atleast try to fix the wrinkles but unfortunately we did not have time before the event to do so. The room was cold because it was winter so we asked to have the fire places turned on. The owner sort of argued that once our guests arrived it would get so hot and advised not to turn them on. Finally it was so cold we demanded they be turned on. The room did not get overly hot as he had advised. I would return just to have some wine outside but I would have reservations about hosting an event here again. read more
